As a family having experienced mum's last few weeks with end of life care, then we really could not of wished for any more care and dignity for mum. The last few weeks were so tough seeing our mum decline rapidly. However, we were kept constantly in touch with the staff as to what was happening, etc.
We
are genuinely touched by the emotions also shown towards us regarding Mum. Our heartfelt thank you goes to all the team.
Reply from Jackie Brook, Head of Marketing & PR at Hesslewood House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your experience and for your kind words.

We know how difficult and emotional it is to see a loved one decline, and we are honoured that you entrusted us with your mum's care during her final weeks. Supporting both residents and their families through end-of-life care is a privilege we never take for granted.

Your comments about the dignity, compassion and communication shown by our team mean a great deal to us. We will ensure your heartfelt thanks are shared with everyone at Hesslewood House.
On behalf of the whole team, thank you once again, and please accept our sincere condolences. We are grateful to have been able to support your mum and your family during such an important time.

Sheila (mother in law) went into Thornhill for respite, she was depressed, wanted to die, was using a wheelchair and unable to walk any distance unaided. She came out two weeks later having put weight on, not requiring her wheel chair. She had made some lovely friends including the staff. She loved
the whole experience and actually looking forward to her next visit.

My mother was a resident in the care home for nearly four and a half years before she recently passed away. She was always well looked after and respected by all the staff there. She was also kept occupied with a wide range of activities and trips out which she really enjoyed. They also looked after
her very well in the final few months of her life when she had lost her mobility. Staff were also welcoming and friendly towards any visitors.

Hesslewood Care Home is excellent on all levels. It is well managed, and the culture of care is outstanding. We know our father was safe and treated with dignity at all times. The food is very good with choices for each meal.
We were involved in social events, sent a newsletter and could call anytime
to see how dad was. There are socials and activities 7 days a week, which keep the residents entertained.
Also, good attention to medical needs.

Following a series of accidents at home last September and hospital treatment, Dad was admitted to Earls Lodge for a period of assessment. This was a difficult time, made more comfortable by an expert team. Dad was treated with utmost respect and kindness by people who understood that this was a time
of great change for him. The level of care and kindness is overwhelming and was extended to us also. At first, we found his room to be stark, but since his permanent residence was confirmed, we have been encouraged to bring in some of his own furniture, and this has improved his surroundings.

Tenlands is now my mams home. When she asks, 'is this where I stay now?', I ask, 'are you happy here?' She always replies 'yes it is very nice'. Christmas 2025 was the 1st year that I could not spend Christmas Day with mam in her own home and make lunch there. I was asked if I would like to join the
Tenlands family and have lunch with mam in the conservatory. A delightful surprise to which I agreed. We both had a wonderful time, mam opened gifts, we enjoyed a gorgeous meal (mam kept saying, and I echoed 'compliments to the chef!') and pulled crackers (mam won both rounds!) She had a marvellous, if exhausting day and did a little video to say thank you from her bed as she was worn out. Thank you to all of the Tenlands team for making the day so special.
Reply from Sarah Hall Hall, Home Manager at Tenlands Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely review. It means a lot to the whole team to hear that your mam is happy at Tenlands.
