It is a really welcoming care home where the staff always go the extra mile
The residents are happy and there is always some kind of entertainment going on
The home recently was awarded the Veterans Home award I went along to the event where veterans and there families where given afternoon tea the mayor as well as family members attended
I have nothing but admiration for this award winning care home I have been actively involved for the last ten years both as the local councillor and X mayor of Barnsley
I have seen this care home involved over the last ten years

I have now retired but visit the care home on a regular basis

Sheila (mother in law) went into Thornhill for respite, she was depressed, wanted to die, was using a wheelchair and unable to walk any distance unaided. She came out two weeks later having put weight on, not requiring her wheel chair. She had made some lovely friends including the staff. She loved the whole experience and actually looking forward to her next visit.

This isn't a care setting. It's a home. All residents are cared for in an exceptional way. The home is spotlessly clean. Warm and welcoming. The staff are outstanding. Nothing is too much trouble. I would recommend this place yo anyone
Entertainment and activities, in-house snf outside the setting are fantastic. Everyone is catered for. The good looks and smells beautiful too.

The management are always accessable and happy to help with any queries.

Thornhill really cares for its residents throughout , from senior management to carers.
Residents have a say and treated with the utmost respect and dignity.
Cleanliness and facilities excellent .
Always something for the residents to do .
The rooms are decorated as the residents like.
Staff are best I have ever come across and I worked in Social Care where we had 65 care homes in the South of England for several years.
Lots of innovation to continually enhance resident care .

Several family members also benefited from care here in the twilight of their lives.

My mum has been a resident for just short of 3years, at Thornhill House. At the end of, October the manager and staff were worried about her health. The whole team played their own part in getting the correct treatment and hospitalisation. Mum had, Pneumonia and, Heart failure. After her release from, Hospital. They realised she still was not getting any better. So with swift action on the teams part, mum was readmitted to, Hospital for a further 5 days. If it wasn't for the team at, Thornhill my mum wouldn't be here today. They are all angels. And I class them as friends.

My mum has been in the care of Thornhill house now for almost two years. During this time she has been very well cared for and is happy there. I find the staff very helpful as her mobility is not good. She enjoys the outings that are sorted for her and the other residents. She also enjoys the activities and the singers etc that are put on on a quite regular basis. She enjoys her showers and loves her bed time especially when it has been bed changing day. (Nothing like fresh bedding). All in all I am happy with the way she is treated and cared for she is too.
