Thornhill really cares for its residents throughout , from senior management to carers.
Residents have a say and treated with the utmost respect and dignity.
Cleanliness and facilities excellent .
Always something for the residents to do .
The rooms are decorated as the residents like.
Staff are
best I have ever come across and I worked in Social Care where we had 65 care homes in the South of England for several years.
Lots of innovation to continually enhance resident care .
Several family members also benefited from care here in the twilight of their lives.

My mum has been a resident for just short of 3years, at Thornhill House. At the end of, October the manager and staff were worried about her health. The whole team played their own part in getting the correct treatment and hospitalisation. Mum had, Pneumonia and, Heart failure. After her release from,
Hospital. They realised she still was not getting any better. So with swift action on the teams part, mum was readmitted to, Hospital for a further 5 days. If it wasn't for the team at, Thornhill my mum wouldn't be here today. They are all angels. And I class them as friends.
Reply from Jackie Brook, Head of Marketing and PR at Thornhill HouseThank you so much for your heartfelt message. We're incredibly touched by your words - it means everything to know the team made such a difference. Your mum is very special to us, and we're so glad she's doing better.

My mum has been in the care of Thornhill house now for almost two years. During this time she has been very well cared for and is happy there. I find the staff very helpful as her mobility is not good. She enjoys the outings that are sorted for her and the other residents. She also enjoys the activities
and the singers etc that are put on on a quite regular basis. She enjoys her showers and loves her bed time especially when it has been bed changing day. (Nothing like fresh bedding). All in all I am happy with the way she is treated and cared for she is too.
Reply from Jackie Brook, Head of Marketing and PR at Thornhill HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share this lovely feedback. We're really pleased to hear that your mum feels happy, well cared for, and enjoys both the activities and outings on offer. Thornhill House is an amazing care home,Christian and his staff always go the extra mile and nothing is ever too much trouble. The care they give my dad is outstanding, all the staff really care about his wellbeing and make sure he is safe and content which because of his dementia is not always easy.
Thornhill put on a three course meal for residents and their family on Christmas day which was fantastic, myself, my wife and dad had a great day, these times are precious and Thornhill understand this and really make an effort to make it special.

Thornhill house is more than just a care home - it's a community and a family- moving into residential care shouldn't be the end and that's where thornhill excels. The manager and all of the staff have created a family environment where we are invited to join in and are able to spend time with our loved
ones.
The team have supported the wider family as well as my mum to ensure the transition was settled and are always on hand to listen and support
We know our mum is safe and cared for in the environment she needs to support her needs
The activity programme is vast and they regularly take the residents on days out / visits to shows and are involved with the wider community including the local schools and pub
The environment is clean and user friendly while maintaining a homely feel
Nothing is too much trouble and you are ALWAYS treated with respect and dignity
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.915)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.915) out of 10 for Thornhill House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 55 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 54 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.915 for Thornhill House is calculated as follows: ( (634 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 655 Ratings = 4.915
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thornhill House is based on 54 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 54 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
