I cannot praise the staff who have cared for my dad enough not only in the last month but for his entire time there. The care, support, fun, love and dignity they have shown is nothing short of amazing. The staff always go that extra mile to make everyone's day treating all as individuals and knowing the likes and personalities of all the residents. They do remarkable work in what at times can be an emotional and stressful job

I cannot honestly believe how good this care home and staff are. My father has been in for respite a few times and it has been an incredible experience.

The whole atmosphere is clearly family based and person centered with all the staff literally like family, many of which have been there many many years.

I am so throughly thankful for everything everyone has done for me and my family and words just aren't enough.

Our family had a hard decision to make, as our relative has dementia.
We chose Thornhill House as we had already had a resident living there permanently. The care of all the residents is excellent.
All the staff are dedicated, their care for the residents is excellent.
Overall experience as a visitor to Thornhill House is excellent.

Thank you for your continuous support and provision of care services.

Mum has been staying at the home for a month. After a difficult time she is so much happier in herself and has put much needed weight on. She is well cared for and loves all of the staff. We are so happy with all the team there and the facilities and activities.

What a wonderful home. The staff are all amazing, it's like one big happy family with lots of love care and fun had by all. I have seen other family members in care homes and whilst they were all great there's just something special about Thornhill House that always puts a smile on your face when you go. Keep up the good work that you all do. To see the resident I know so happy and safe means the world to me and her family so thank you from the bottom of my heart, you're just lovely.

I cannot even put into words how disgusted I am with this place! Some staff cared others not so much at all. The management is very unprofessional, mum had to be moved to a more suitable placement and when I got there to assist with this, the manager had already placed her outside with my aunty and a staff member at a table having a cup of tea in her nightwear. I was absolutely disgusted with this, all her things were already packed before I even agreed to move mum. You really need to open your eyes to the meaning of care, compassion and dignity!

Reply from Christian Mason, Registered Manager at Thornhill House

Thankyou for your review. Unfortunately the comments are not factual and we had to act in the safety of residents and staff. The manager was actually overseas, on return he helped find a placement at our sister home where the lady settled well. The lady was taken outside with her sister for a cigarette. I appreciate your feedback and happy to discuss in detail.

My Mum was in Thornhill House for 3 years before sadly passing away in July. Mum received excellent care and attention during her time there, nothing was too much trouble for anyone and she was safe and well. The activities for the residents and the entertainment especially when a singer was there Mum loved, everyone joined in even the staff and management.

The food was lovely and enjoyable. Mum enjoyed having her hair done every Tuesday. So thank you to the manager and all your staff for making Mum's last 3 years happy and enjoyable. Also thank you for the caring service you did when it was Mum's funeral it was very much appreciated.

The care my nan received at Thornhill House was fantastic. the manager and his staff are truly amazing and inspiring people. After my Grandad passed my Nan rapidly went downhill and was very frail and didn't engage much. The change in her once she had moved into Thornhill was unbelievable and I know she got her spark back. The activities the residents have and opportunities to engage is amazing and every care home should be like this.
Sadly my Nan passed away in July and again the support from staff was fantastic. Christian did a lovely service at Thornhill which was so personal.

A massive thank you for everything!

My mum was in here for 2 years before passing away in May of this year. The staff at Thornhill are the most lovely, caring, enthusiastic people and they are undoubtedly what makes this home what it is. I cannot thank them enough for looking after Mum and making her last 2 years as good as they were. The activities here were amazing, regular entertainment which Mum loved and loads of participation from the staff.

My dad is a resident of Thornhill House in Darfield and I honestly cannot thank them enough for the care and support they provide my dad. My dad is very settled and a lot calmer thanks to all the staff there. I wanted a care home for him where they actually involved residents with activities and other things rather than him just spending his days sat in the chair and Thornhill 100% deliver on that. Every week there is something happening in the home whether it be coffee mornings or entertainment. Amazing home. Keep up the good work.
