My mum has been in Thornhill House for approximately two and a half years and she has been very happy and settled during this time. She always told me that the carers were always friendly and she felt well looked after.

I have been a friend of Thornhill for about 14-years now, and I have seen the home improvement in leaps and bounds. The management and staff are absolutely wonderful, and nothing is too much trouble for them. The love and attention that they give to all the residents are outstanding. The cleanliness
is really high standard. I would not hesitate to recommend the home to anyone.

The care at Thornhill House is second to none! Staff are so kind and really do put their all into their work. Activities are excellent and varied (many more than other care homes provide). Meals are very good of various ingredients, good choice, many desserts are home-baked. In all, I do not know how
we would have coped without the staff at Thornhill House.

There is so much activity going on for residents to get involved in. The carers have got so much patience and nothing is ever too much for them. Whenever there's something that needs changing, management deal with it immediately. It’s just a nice place to be around.

We moved my mum here from another care home that was actually like a five-star hotel - but there was no heart and soul there. Thornhill House has lots of heart and soul. The staff are all down-to-earth and genuine. My mum gets taken out regularly and this is what she loves. Thank you, Thornhill!

The place is absolutely brilliant, they tend to my auntie's every need. A home where the staff aren't there as a chore to them but they treat the residents like their family. They do great things with them - it's amazing.

Could not recommend Thornhill highly enough, even if I tried! My Grandma was there for a short time before we lost her and all the staff were amazing with her and ensuring, even in lockdown, my mum and uncle could see her in her last days. Very friendly, honest and open - great atmosphere. Can't thank
the team enough.

Can't thank this home enough. My mum went in on regular daycare. She had also had some respite there. My mum was severe with her vascular dementia, she was very hard work but Thornhill took time with her and helped by caring for her and also they cared for me. Listening to me each week upset, happy
and crying. They showered her to help and got her in respite, when the room was available. I couldn't say thanks to just one because as a team, they worked great.

My gran went into respite in February until she, unfortunately, passed away on 24 April 2022 and was in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's. She immediately warmed to the care home manager, who made her feel at home and welcomed. The manager has been a great support to my family since her passing and
I can't thank him enough for what he did for my gran during those final weeks.

My mum-in-law was admitted two years ago after the death of my father-in-law. He was her carer as she has dementia. The manager and the staff welcomed her and gave her the love and attention that, unfortunately, our family wasn’t able to give. They are all excellent and I would highly recommend them.

My wife has had peace of mind through this difficult time by the care home keeping her constantly updated. FaceTime had been set up to allow regular visits, albeit thru remote systems. A difficult time but made easier by systems Thornhill put in place.

The care and support my mum has received from the staff at the home has been amazing. Their compassion, dedication, enthusiasm and bravery throughout this pandemic has been exemplary and one that they all should be very proud of.
I would definitely recommend this home to my friends.
Mum is happy,
content, safe and has a new lease of life since moving into the home. She is stimulated, engaged and has made lots of wonderful friends
I cannot recommend this home enough, and I have the utmost praise for each and every one of the brilliant staff who looks after Mums well-being.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.900)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.900) out of 10 for Thornhill House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 47 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.900 for Thornhill House is calculated as follows: ( (537 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 558 Ratings = 4.9
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thornhill House is based on 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 46 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
