Thornhill House is an excellent care home. It is such a relief knowing that my grandma, who has dementia, is being so well looked after.
The staff at Thornhill are excellent and go above and beyond to make sure all residents are well looked after and are treated well. They are always engaging with
residents to make sure they are okay, and if my grandma makes a request for a certain food or beverage they go out of their way to sort it for her.
They always seem to have activities for the residents to do, whether it is arts and crafts or dancing, and probably once a week they have a live singer in the lounge singing old songs. My grandma loves it and always gets up dancing and singing.
The staff are a real credit to the home and its residents. They are often staging charity events in their own time to give back to the home and the community, and at Christmas, they devised a scheme for people to donate shoeboxes to give to residents and the local hospital. A truly excellent care home.

The family are pleased with the care and provisions provided for my mother-in-law. The staff are all very professional and friendly at all times. The activities provided are great and we really appreciate the time and effort staff put into delivering different experiences for my mum-in-law. We all think
it's a pleasure to visit and to know that mum-in-law is safe and cared for by everyone.

My gran has been living in Thornhill House now full-time since September 2019. She came in for Respite care for a couple of weeks after been in and out of hospital and decided that she wanted to stop there as a full-time resident as she loved it that much. She has received so much love and care from
all the staff and now considers them her friends. Since she has been in Thornhill she has improved so much in herself and that is thanks to all the amazing staff at Thornhill. They do so much for her and nothing is too much trouble. We also get involved and enjoy sharing the laughs with all the entertainment that they put on them, which she absolutely loves. Her room is lovely and spacious. She really enjoys eating again now after losing so much weight whilst she was poorly but now Thornhill make sure there is always something for her to eat. A big shout out goes to all the amazing staff and especially the manager who has been wonderful throughout and is a credit to the care home.

The move to Thornhill House was a breath of fresh air and by far the best decision we made in terms of my grandfather’s long term care. The staff are all very professional and always go that extra mile to ensure that both my grandfather and the other residents are well cared for, happy and comfortable.
There are regular activities held most days of the week that give the residents an opportunity to get involved in something and a chance to socialise and interact with the other residents and members of staff. The rooms are well kept and the place has a very clean and maintained feel to it. Visiting hours are very flexible, and there is ample parking to the rear of the building. It is important to note that, access into both the car park area and the building are secure and monitored at all times. On a final note, since moving my grandfather to the home, he has really settled in and when we visit he always has a smile on his face.

My mum has been a full-time resident at Thornhill House since September. She loves all the staff and considers them her friends, as do we. They go above the call of duty, the care and love she receives is wonderful. The manager deserves a mention, he is a fantastic personality with love and understanding
and the activities are many! We also get involved and enjoy sharing the laughs. My mum was ill during the summer and I believe the love and compassion she receives at Thornhill saved her life! Thank you to all, a happy place to live and a pleasure to visit.

I am extremely happy with the care given to my mother at this care home. The manager and his team truly go above and beyond for the people in their care. It does not have a feel of a care home (of which I have quite a bit of experience). It feels much more like my mum’s home that she happens to share
we other people. There is a very family, loving environment within this facility. I would highly recommend this service for anyone looking for outside care for their loved ones.

My mum in law has been in a few months due to a fall in her home and is now a permanent resident. As I have lived in Darfield for a few years I know most of the staff and to be honest I wouldn’t want my mum anywhere else.
So friendly and supportive to her every need, we’ve all had days out with the
staff and residents and we try to support the home when they're doing raffles.
Activities going off every day which she enjoys and tries to take part in.
Would highly recommend Thornhill Care Home to anyone.
Keep up the good work guys.

Overall their stay has been satisfactory with little problems which were all sorted out immediately.
We have no problems at all recommending this very good Care Home to anyone we have

Hope this continues.

From entering the homely atmosphere of the care home. I can well understand why my nana has been very happy. The care and support staff are very friendly and approachable.
The resident's interaction between the staff and residents is visible to see. The management team have kept the family up to date

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.900)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.900) out of 10 for Thornhill House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 47 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.900 for Thornhill House is calculated as follows: ( (537 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 558 Ratings = 4.9
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thornhill House is based on 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 46 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
