Our dad is currently a resident at Thornhill House at the moment. From the day of his arrival, the manager and his team of staff have been very welcoming; they have been very hands-on, brilliant with communication, and their level of care they have given has been outstanding. Nothing has been a problem
for them. Our dads need of the level of care can be variable, and they adapt themselves to his needs. I am also very grateful, as since our dad has been at Thornhill House, they have discovered a problem our dad has, which had been overlooked by other medical professionals, so now our dad is receiving the medication he should have had before arriving at Thornhill House. I know our dad is happy there and certainly loves the food. I speak with our dad most days, its never a problem for a member of staff to take the phone to him. I am so pleased that our dad is in a nice care home with lovely surroundings, but most of all, lovely people. With all my heart, thank you to everyone at Thornhill House.

Happy to leave this review for anybody looking into next level of care for family members.
I can’t speak highly enough of the manager and the rest of the team working at Thornhill House; they have made my dad really welcomed, and after trying a few different homes he has been settling into surroundings
at Thornhill House, dare I say it, better than expected.
I can tell from conversations with my farther that there has been a marked improvement in both his mental health and overall well being since arriving, the team have always been polite and have gone out there way to really help manage my dad's long term ailments, which are of great relieve to myself and family members.
Keep up the good work!
Regards.

Can only say that I had my wife placed in a care home before I did. She has come on well, and the staff are friendly. She looks better then she has for a long time which is down to the staff and the top standards that are in place.

Due to dementia, the time came when Mum needed full-time care and after a couple of short stays in other care homes. I felt I had found the right place for Mum at Thornhill. As she went into Thornhill in the middle of the pandemic, I have never been inside to visit, but I feel she is well cared for
by the amazing staff. She seems happy and always looks clean and presentable. Thornhill has done a great job in getting her to eat again and keeping her stimulated. I truly believe Mum would not be with us today if she had not gone into Thornhill. I am kept well informed through phone calls and get to see many of the activities Mum joins in with through photos and videos. I feel this home is very well managed, and the staff are genuinely lovely and caring.

Fantastic home, caring staff, the best care home by a clear mile. Residents treated with great dignity by top quality staff entertained daily. The food looks great, they put regular shows on for them all around. A great care home that deserves all the award it has received.

My father-in-law has been in Thornhill since November 2020.
Despite the difficult times, we’re in with COVID-19, staff have worked tirelessly to look after his well being to try and keep his spirits up.
All the staff put so much time and energy into keeping everyone active physically and mentally
with lots of various activities throughout the week.
The manager always finds time for you if you have any issues no matter what time of day.

I cannot begin to express my admiration for all the team at Thornhill. They work tirelessly to ensure the residents are well cared for, entertained and loved throughout their time at the home. All needs and requirements are met always with a smile and going the 'extra mile ' seems the norm. These difficult
times have brought out the best in all the staff. Thank you seems too little to say, but it is heartfelt. My family and I have nothing but praise for you all.

Our Mum has been resident in Thornhill Care Home for the last 3 years and the care Mum has received has been outstanding throughout. Especially through the Covid 19 pandemic, making sure we could communicate safely via social media and keeping everyone entertained. We cannot thank the manager and all
his staff enough for everything they have done for her. The staff have never faltered in any way to provide the special loving care for Mum in her last few years and especially, over the last few weeks of her life. There are not enough words to express our gratitude and we would recommend that anyone wishing to secure a residential nursing home for their loved ones, should not hesitate to consider Thornhill. Thank you so very much for everything.

Did a fantastic job looking after and keeping my dad as comfortable as they possibly could in the last few months of his life. All the staff were brilliant, and nothing was too much trouble for them, the manager even made an appearance at my dad's funeral, which was really nice of him.
Would recommend
Thornhill House without hesitation.

Fabulous staff who go above and beyond to ensure the residents are taken care of and their minds are occupied. You see many care homes who are happy to just sit their residents in an armchair and just wait for them to pass away. When the lockdown was put in place, it seemed like a nightmare, but the
staff made sure we were able to see our families on Facebook, while they were doing activities. It helps you sleep at night, knowing that your vulnerable family member is safe and sound.

My nana has stayed here numerous times after hospital and she is now staying for good. Initially, the thought of her now going home was very upsetting but seeing how happy she is in this home is wonderful. The staff are brilliant and they always go the extra mile. It’s amazing that she has entertainment
there and is able to join in in lots of activities. I would recommend this care home to everyone.

I am very pleased with the care and support my mum receives at Thornhill House. The home is just like my mum, down to earth, no airs or graces, kind and considerate, enjoys a laugh and a good sing-a-long and is always happy to help.

My grandad has been in Thornhill House for around 9 months and whilst as a family, we were really reluctant for him to go into care because of stories you hear we can honestly say since being in Thornhill the care he has received has been second to none.
When he first went into Thornhill he was not
good on his feet, to seeing how they have helped him with his mobility and general care is so nice to see that they care for him like he is their family member!
I would 100% recommend Thornhill House to anyone in the position we were in as we can see they love the residents as much as the families do.

After a rocky start to 2019 after over 16 falls and numerous infections, long stays in hospital, myself and my family took the hard decision of finding my 86-yr-old dad with Alzheimer's and many other health issues a care home. Last thing I ever dreamt I would have to do and I was devastated, to say
the least. We viewed Thornhill and spoke to Thornhill manager and decided this was the home we wanted dad to stay. If I had to put a time limit on dads life expectancy before he went in, wouldn't have expected him to be with this Xmas just gone he was so frail and lost the will to live. Ask me now and I can dream we will still have him with us next Xmas, he is doing so good and that's down to the amazing staff at Thornhill each and every one of them just go above and beyond. I can't stress enough how happy I am knowing my dad is getting the best care possible, he is a different man to the man that went into that home 9 months ago.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.900)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.900) out of 10 for Thornhill House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 47 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.900 for Thornhill House is calculated as follows: ( (537 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 558 Ratings = 4.9
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thornhill House is based on 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 46 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
