At first, I did not want to stay but now I can honestly say I have enjoyed staying at Thornhill. Staff have been wonderful, can't do enough for me. Food is fabulous, homemade cooking and if you don't want what they are cooking, alternative meals are provided. My room was smashing, comfortable bed and
always clean and smelled nice when you re-entered the room. My family also commented on how well I was treated. Christmas was special and I have enjoyed all the entertainment

My mum in law has been in the been in the care of Thornhill House since August 2016 and the care and attention she receives is immpeciable. She is in the last days of her life now but they treated her and all the family with love and dignity. The management and staff all give 100% and we would thoroughly
recommend Thornhill House to everyone.

My grandma has been in Thornhill since August when she had a fall at home, after being in a few days she said she wanted to stay and live here as she loved it, they treat the residents so well and nothing is too much trouble. Since then, my grandma is now on a care plan and I can not thank everyone
enough for what they are doing for her, caring, tentative, supportive to us as the family, they make you feel so welcomed and part of the family unit that all staff are. Thank you all.

Lovely clean home. Brilliant atmosphere and helpful staff.

I used to look after my friend for many years as he was my neighbour and after a bad spell with an chest infection amongst other ailments he landed at Thornhill. On visiting him he looked content and was chatting to carers and he claims

he's shy!

Great home. Well done to all who work at Thornhill!

I was heartbroken when my mother had to be admitted due to a serious accident, although from the moment I walked in we were made very welcome. All staff were very friendly and very informative. Nothing was too much trouble. My mother was very upset when admitted and I was so surprised how quickly she
settled and how quickly her condition improved.
The home itself was very clean, and my mother was very happy with her room.
The care she received was fabulous and not only did they make her smile and feel at home, they also helped her with her recovery and she is now back in her own home.
Thank you to all staff and management.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.900)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.900) out of 10 for Thornhill House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 47 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.900 for Thornhill House is calculated as follows: ( (537 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (1 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 558 Ratings = 4.9
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thornhill House is based on 46 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8, which has been reached with 46 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
