From the first phone call with the manager, Chloe, the staff could not have been any more accommodating and helpful. What was a very stressful discharge from hospital was made so much better with the help of your staff. My dad was well looked after, and each visit was met with a cheerful 'hello' and
smile; everyone is clearly happy in their work! Well done and thank you,
Reply from Jackie Brook, Head of Marketing & PR at Highstone Mews Care Home

Thank you so much for your kind words. We're delighted to hear that your dad felt well cared for and that our team helped make the transition from hospital a little easier. The team at Highstone Mews take great pride in creating a warm and welcoming environment for residents and their families. Your feedback means a lot to us - thank you for sharing.

Entering the care of any relative to an outside party is a very responsible decision to make. Turns out, with Highstone Mews, there was no need to worry. I cannot fault the care home in any way. The management and staff were exceptionally attentive and diligent from start to finish. Nothing was too
much trouble, and any queries we had were dealt with immediately.

Initially, dad was admitted to Barnsley Hospital, where he stayed for two weeks, but then BH wanted to discharge him. Initially, I was disappointed with my dad being admitted to a Care Home, rather than the Hospice, just because I felt he needed one-to-one end-of-life care. My dad was only in Highstone
Mews Care Home for one week, before he sadly passed. I would like to say to the staff at Highstone Mews Care Home, a big thank you to Julia, Emma, Leah, Liam and Cheryl. You did everything possible for my dad and I will be forever grateful. Nothing was too much trouble. My dad's needs were met in every possible way, even down to one of the nurses putting music in my dad's room, whilst he was coming to the end of his life - how thoughtful! When dad passed, two members of staff were with me, and dad, at this difficult time, comforting me, and helping dad at the end of his life. Dad didn't need Hospice care after all, the nurses met my dad's needs in every way possible. Thank you so much.

When our Mum first moved into Thornhill House, I was naturally anxious about how she would adjust. From the very first day, the staff made both of us feel welcome, respected, and valued. They took the time to learn about Mum's history, her quirks, and the little things that make her smile.
The level
of care she receives is truly outstanding. The team are attentive without being overbearing, while always being on hand when needed. They treat her like family, not just a resident - and that's something you can't put a price on.
The home itself is warm, clean, and inviting. The recent redecoration has freshened up the home making it look more like a hotel than a care home. Activities are varied and engaging, from music afternoons to gentle exercise sessions.
Communication has also been excellent. I'm always kept informed of any changes in her health or routine, and the staff are approachable and happy to answer questions. It's reassuring to know she's in such capable, caring hands.

When choosing a care home for my mother-in-law, we wanted the very best - and Thornhill House stood out immediately with its highest possible rating from the CQC. From the moment we visited, we were impressed by the warmth, professionalism, and genuine compassion of the staff. Every team member treats
her with dignity, kindness, and patience, creating a safe, homely environment where she feels valued and respected. The home is spotless, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed for comfort and accessibility. Meals are delicious and tailored to residents' needs, and the wide range of activities keeps her engaged, happy, and socially connected. Communication with families is excellent, giving us complete peace of mind. We've seen such a positive difference in her quality of life since arriving at Thornhill House. It truly deserves its outstanding CQC rating for Caring and is a shining example of what a care home should be.

Dad spent the last 2 years of his life at Thornhill House and the care he received as second to none. The staff went above and beyond to ensure he was comfortable and safe as his dementia worsened.
Everything is centred around the residents needs from the food to entertainment to activities which
makes for a happy lively atmosphere. Dad's funeral left from the home and the service was so moving and personal - very special.

My father enjoyed his stay, especially the food. His room was nice and kept clean. Even though my father is not a joiner when it comes to activities, there was plenty going on, and he encouraged me to join in. He was well looked after even got his hair cut. Would be happy for him to stay again.

My Grandma was in Thornhill House from January 2025 until she passed away in April.

The staff at Thornhill House, as a whole are absolutely fantastic. Nothing was ever too much, whether it was for my Grandma or for my family.

My Grandma's death was sudden, although she'd been battling with her

illness for a while before she went to Thornhill I never saw her as happy as I did when she was there. Thornhill is truly a home away from home, they make you feel at ease, offer emotional support, aswell as maintaining a professional relationship with their service users, residents and their families.

I cannot thank them enough for making the last few months of her life enjoyable under the circumstances, even now she's gone myself and family still have a friendship with those at Thornhill House and that says everything about the care they put into what they do.

Excellent well balanced meals, stimulating entertainment, activities, garden parties, fancy dress, the

My dad passed away at Thornhill on 28th June 2025 following a long battle with dementia,
He moved into Thornhill in September 2023 for restbite whilst mum was battling cancer and sadly passed away in October 2023,dad never came out of Thornhill.
The love and care he received at Thornhill was unbelievably
good both professionally and personally. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
We worried wether he would settle but he did very quickly and became one of the characters thanks to the staff,
Most people think they have to die before they meet an angel but dad didn't have to wait he met his angels long before at Thornhill
Can't thank them enough and will be eternally grateful

I cannot praise the staff who have cared for my dad enough not only in the last month but for his entire time there. The care, support, fun, love and dignity they have shown is nothing short of amazing. The staff always go that extra mile to make everyone's day treating all as individuals and knowing
the likes and personalities of all the residents. They do remarkable work in what at times can be an emotional and stressful job

I cannot honestly believe how good this care home and staff are. My father has been in for respite a few times and it has been an incredible experience.

The whole atmosphere is clearly family based and person centered with all the staff literally like family, many of which have been there many many

years.

I am so throughly thankful for everything everyone has done for me and my family and words just aren't enough.

My mum came to Highstone Mews from hospital for a 2 week independent living assessment. After the assessment, it was decided that she needed 24 hours care. We, as a family, were so thankful that the home had a permanent place for her. The care she receives is, as far as we are concerned, second to none.
Being at Highstone Mews has made our transition from being carers to Mum being cared for stress free. Mum tells us she is happy and that the carers are really good.

My brother took my dad for a look round and he said the staff, cleanliness, decor and facilities were just what dad needs. Dad went in the Saturday before Christmas 2024 and settled straight in. Christmas day was spent having lots of fun for the residents and families visiting. All the staff are fantastic
and nothing is too much trouble for them. If you need to know anything, just ask or if they think you should need to know they tell you. Keep up the great work, thank you.
