The care home staff are all pleasant, polite and always work with a smile on their face. They listen to my family member's needs and support her in continuing to be independent as much as possible. There are always activities and events going on and the menu is variable. Excellent care by staff and
also very supportive before and after the bereavement of our grandad.

Such a friendly and warm place, the staff are so helpful and kind and nothing is too much trouble. Loads of activities for the residents, nice and clean garden is well kept and spacious. Absolutely five-star.

My sister went into Barchester Lindum House Care Home after being given short months to live. She was made to feel welcome immediately and all family members were welcomed too, I felt that staff genuinely cared and treated my sister with dignity and respect at all times. A dedicated team of care staff
and management who I felt went above and beyond to help my sister.

Barchester Lindum House Nursing Home was my sister's home for the final two weeks of her life. I cannot fault the dedication of the whole staff group, in particular two members of staff are my sister's favourite staff. Thank you all for looking after her so well.

My mum is a resident here and from initial enquiry and meeting with the manager, everything progressed smoothly and quickly to her admission - which was a discharge from hospital. Mum is being cared for with dignity, respect and compassion and I cannot thank all the staff enough for all they are doing,
not only for her but for me and my family too. We feel very supported at a hugely difficult and emotional time. All the staff have welcomed us in with open arms and reassured us. Mum is developing lovely relationships with the staff as they get to know her. The home has a calm relaxed atmosphere and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone thinking of here for themselves or for a loved one. Thank you to all the nurses, carers and staff, you’re doing an amazing job!

Both my parents have resided at Barchester Lindum House since July 2021. My father has vascular dementia, my mother has type one diabetes and various other conditions. Under the direction of a new manager, since August 2022, I find the home to be a safe and happy place with caring staff who treat my
parents with dignity.

The staff and management at Lindum House are lovely. They are caring, friendly and professional, nothing is too much trouble for them. My sister settled straight away and is very happy. All family visiting have been made welcome.

Mum went to stay for a respite placement with a view to a full placement - this plan helped us as a family come to terms with moving Mum into 24-hour care as she is only 69 and has vascular dementia.
The staff at the home have been so amazing with my mum - encouraging her to have as much independence
as possible, keeping her safe, managing her insulin and blood sugars and her other needs. They have taken great care to get to know her and what she likes and doesn't like and working with us as a family to make this transition for Mum as supported as possible. I can't thank the staff enough for the extra mile they all go in supporting us, Dad especially has needed support but they all try to make it a home from home for him - we visit when we like, eat with her, join in activities and are made to feel so welcome
On the first day there, my mum was looked after by a new nurse who had just started and had just come to the UK in June - he was amazing with her as is her keyworker and all the team.

Lindum House is warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly and always on hand to help with anything. The home is exceptionally clean. There is often entertainment on when I'm there and the residents have a fab time, singing and dancing. The home is very well led by the new manager and team.

I am the resident's essential caregiver. I visit the resident several times a week. On one occasion, I was visiting at tea time to give my client some tasty treats to have with her tea. I requested the client have her tea in her bedroom so I could sit with her. The carer and manager were very kind.
The manager, who is new, welcomed us both with a lovely tea together in the lounge. She said that is what the resident would have done if in her own home. Very kind.

I am on multiple safeguardings from this home, some more serious than others. I have had near-miss of medications, only a near-miss because I stopped her (It was another resident's medication). The food is bland and unappealing, my son brings food in for me, and the care staff has said I can't pre-book
a food request. The carers are mostly good but the home use lots of agency workers and English is not the first language and I really struggle to make them understand what my needs are. I have had to wait 90+ mins for the call bell when having an angina attack. I had to contact my son and ask him to phone the home, this took extra 20 minutes because the guy who answered did not understand and he got my name wrong so the staff didn't know who I was. Staff came but again agency, who knew very little English, trying to explain where my (GTN) spray was, she tried but time was critical. I finally got the spray, a few days later it happened again. I would not recommend this home to anyone else. CQC aware.

The staff are hardworking and careing and do their best under very challenging circumstances due to serious staff shortages. My husband was left in bed until lunchtime on several occasions, unshaven and with a dirty room. He was dressed in an awful T-shirt (not his) and on another occasion though he
has plenty of his own shirts all named. I dressed him myself that morning (11.45 am). He is currently on respite from hospital discharge to monitor his mobility.

Dad has received excellent care, all the staff are helpful and cheerful and he feels well supported. The nursing care is very good and the activities co=ordinatoe makes sure Dad is included in events. He is happy and well settled in Lindum House.

My mother had her ninetieth birthday last week. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, no visitors were allowed in the home at all so planning what to do was not easy. The activities coordinator at Barchester Lindum House could not have been more helpful. In the morning she helped Mum open her cards and presents
and then gave her a pamper session and did her hair. She set up a room with decorations and a big screen so Mum could watch a film of her choice. In the afternoon she helped us organise a Zoom session for all the family, again projected onto the big screen so it was really clear. Barchester Lindum House provided a lovely cake and we all sang Happy Birthday. We are still hoping to be able to all get together as a family to celebrate in person but meanwhile, Mum had a day to remember and was made to feel very special. Without the activities coordinator and I am sure other staff at the home, this would not have been possible and we will be forever grateful for all the effort that went in to ensuring Mum had such a special day.

Mum has been at Lindum House for nearly 4 years now and it has been excellent in every way but especially now with COVID. All staff have gone above and beyond their duties to ensure residents and relatives are kept in contact which is so important during these so stressful times. Myself and my family
are so grateful that Mum is in Lindum House and we can never repay staff for their help. Many thanks to you all. (Activities are second to none - residents love it.)

I enjoy my time here at Lindum and join in the activities and the trips out. The staff here are nice and I've made some good friends and we have good times together. The food varies, but overall good.

Hi, my name is Jayne and I am the General Manager here at Lindum.


I have worked in the social care industry for over 30 years 25 within management; I qualified as a Registered Manager in 2001.


Social care is my vocation I feel at home in the environment, I have a passion to cascade my wealth of knowledge and experiences throughout my team in order to fulfil and enhance the quality of life for those people who receive our care.


Thank you for taking the time to look further into what we have to offer to you or your loved one. Here is an opportunity to look at some of our staff team in the home, who all play a vital role in day-to-day life.

Anthony Cancio

Job Title: Registered Nurse Joined: 2018

Hi, my name is Anthony. I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in the Philippines in 2018. I am very happy to say that Barchester supported me with my move to the UK in June 2022, and provided me with the relevant training and support to get my UK registration PIN so as to work as a registered nurse here at Lindum House.


My role is to support all nursing needs of those living at the home. I am very dedicated to my job and find it very rewarding. I put my relevant nursing skills into practice throughout my working day.

Wendy Shipley

Job Title: Care Assistant Joined: 2021

Wendy joined our wonderful team of care assistants at the home in 2021.


She speaks warmly about how much she enjoys getting to know our residents, listening to their stories, experiences and how she has a wish to help others.


Away from the home, Wendy loves to spend time making memories with her grandson and going for walks with her partner, Andy and Bella, their golden Labrador.

Matt

Matt Carr

Job Title: Head Chef Joined: 2025

Matt has been working at Lindum House since the beginning of 2025 and thoroughly enjoys working with the residents and the Lindum team. He has worked in the social care sector for many years and is very passionate about what he does.


Matt's speciality is home baking, and he really enjoys making cakes for the residents' birthdays & special events/activities. Matt's past catering experience started in the education sector, which then led him to become the food and beverage manager at a local golf club. He then moved to the social care sector. Currently, still a member of the National Association of Care Catering, which, in 2023, they won catering team of the year.


Matt's home life is very busy as he enjoys socialising and regularly walks his dog on the beach every day.
Matt has already made a positive start to Lindum, as we are welcoming 'meet the chef' back next month, at the residents' request.

Stephanie

Stephanie Faulkner

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2022

Hi, my name is Stephanie, and I am proud to be an activity assistant here at Lindum House. I have been in post since October 2022. I am no stranger to Lindum House, having worked here previously for 5 years, the role of an activities assistant with over 15 years’ experience.


As the home's activity assistant, I feel it is most important to know the residents, their likes and dislikes this ensures that person-centred program of events and activities can be planned and facilitated.


Here at Lindum House, we are fortunate to have our minibus so that we can have regular outings to local attractions and sometimes further afield – we are always open to suggestions for our excursions.


I get great job satisfaction when I see the residents smiling, laughing and generally enjoying the activity I am facilitating – seeing the residents smile and being happy is very rewarding!

Job Title: Head of Maintenance Joined: 2022

Hi, my name is Bob. I am Head of Maintenance here at Lindum House. I joined the team here at Lindum in October 2022, but have worked for Barchester for over 13 years in total.


Maintenance is paramount when it comes to Lindum House and the people who live, work and visit here. I take my role very seriously and enjoy keeping the home environment at a high standard, ultimately creating a safe and warm place for people to live in and for my colleagues to work in.


I take great pride in my work and feel a sense of achievement when I have refurbished an area.

Hi, my name is Sarah. I am Head Housekeeper at Lindum House. I have worked since 1995, and I am proud to be the Home's Head of Housekeeping.


I love my job and working in the care sector, it is all I have down and would not want to leave it. I enjoy working for Barchester, they are a well-run company with lots of benefits. I feel empowered in my role and very supported as part of a team

Job Title: Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi there, I'm Kelly. My role at Lindum House ensures all of our residents always have lots of fun activities to look forward to.


I've worked in health and social care for around 15 years. I started on care, worked through domestic, kitchen assistant and found my calling with activities!


I'm a strong believer in 'treat people how you wish to be treated', everyone is different, and it's important to focus on each individual's wants and needs, to encourage and nurture life, you only live once!


Our residents' smiles are my reward; it makes me so happy to see them enjoying themselves.

Jacqui Kipling

Job Title: Hair and Beauty Therapist

Hi, my name is Jacqui and I am proud to be the Hair & Beauty Therapist here at Lindum House. I have been in post since May 2004. I am no stranger to Lindum House, having worked here for 20 years.


As the home's Hairdresser & Manicurist, I feel a sense of achievement every single week, knowing that my residents look and feel so much better after they visit me.


Here at Lindum House, we are fortunate to have our little salon, which the residents relax and socialise in; it really is quite the little social hub! I feel that social activities at any stage of life are important to a person’s wellbeing, both physically & mentally.


In my spare time, I enjoy swimming & Paddleboarding, I just love the water; I also have a house rabbit called ‘Billy Bear’, whom I may bring in to visit the residents occasionally.


It's my absolute pleasure to visit Lindum House weekly and make our residents feel Fabulous; Not to mention getting them ready for Lindum’s parties and monthly social events.
