My review is about Promenade. The care from carers, on the whole, was excellent apart from one agency carer on one day.
The nurses have coped very well with the amount of illness on the unit in keeping everything running well. The activities lady for the unit, in spite of being ill herself, organised
as much as she could for the residents with good results.
Food has been consistently good but I do have a strong concern about the health and safety for the kitchen area of the unit.
It is good that the carers respond willingly to requests for help with the residents or sorting out a problem.
Reply from Chloè Knight, Home Administrator at Belmont HouseHi Barry,

Thank you for taking your time to write your review.

I will make sure that all the staff on Promenade are made aware of your comments, it really is lovely to hear that all of their continued hard work doesn't go unnoticed. I will also make our Head Chef, his team and the activity coordinator aware of your lovely comments too.

With regards to your concerns, please do not hesitate to come and see the managers or myself, and we will endeavour to rectify your concerns.

Kind regards.

My mother was quite poorly when she came to Belmont, over the weeks, she has improved somewhat. All the staff I have encountered seem to be professional and very kind which is reassuring. Her room seems comfortable with a pleasant view.

Overall, my impression is that Belmont is a place of calmness

with an air of informality which puts one at ease. Security appears good, I have no concerns for my mother's safety or comfort. A very good care home.

The care my grandmother receives is outstanding. All the staff are so lovely they keep us informed and updated to the condition of my grandmother. She is given care of the highest standard, nothing is too much trouble and are always on hand to help advise. I have been very happy and impressed with the
care home.

I have had some issues, but hopefully often complaining, these have been dealt with.
These issues seem to be when they have some agency staff on duty.
The regular carers are very good and do a good job, under difficult circumstances. I feel sure the home would benefit with a supervisor.
On the whole,
my husband is being looked after very well and this is a good care home.
Reply from Chloe Knight, Home Administrator at Belmont HouseHi Pat,

Thank you for your review.

If you ever have any concerns or issues, please do not hesitate to contact either myself, the Unit Manager who is in charge of the suite your husband resides on or Claire, our Home Manager and we will endeavour to address the situation.

We do use the agency, we try our best to make sure that there is continuity with the agency staff that we use. We are currently recruiting for permanent care staff to join our ever expanding team here at Belmont House.

Kind regards,

My friend and colleague is a retired professional musician.
Although I am only here occasionally, I have seen good care and attention with activities to keep people's minds working. Staff seem helpful with radio and CDs - which are of course important to a musician. Individual needs seem to be catered
for.

On entering the car park it was very full and we were unable to park the car. We were asked not to park on the side as the land belonged to the school but eventually parked near a fence with limited time for parking.

On entering the home it was decorated nicely for the Christmas season. We signed

in the book and we were let in by a staff member who was very friendly and showed us to our friend's room. It was very clean and had a friendly atmosphere. Our friend appeared very happy and content and looked well cared. for.
Reply from Chloe Knight, Home Administrator at Belmont HouseThank you for your review.

We are aware that there is some congestion with the parking, we are in talks with the school and the Highways department, we are currently waiting on a response from the council and our local MP with a solution to the problem.

Again, thank you for your review, it is greatly appreciated.

Well cared for.
Well fed.
Home clean and well maintained.
The staff are brilliant with my husband.
Activities for men with a work/labour background are poor.
Reply from Chloe Knight, Home Administrator at Belmont HouseDear Yvonne,

I believe the Activities ladies have since been and spent some time with your husband and yourself and suggested that you both make a list of things that may interest your husband. We will continue to chat with him and yourself to ensure that his requirements are met. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards, Chloe Knight.

As a resident, I cannot fault my care home in any way whatsoever. I do not always agree with the furnishings and the decoration but this is a personal preference. The grey setee in the reception area is a disaster. The courtyard internal gardens are an absolute mess and need a professional to look at
them and advise.
Reply from Chloe Knight, Home Administrator at Belmont HouseDear Charles,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

The new settee is a green Chesterfield, whilst the settee is not to everyone's taste, we think it makes the home look and feel more welcoming. With regards to the Courtyard gardens, we have professional gardeners who come on a regular basis. The gardeners have looked at the ivy and have advised that the ivy is not causing any problems with the walls or the drainpipes, we have asked the gardeners to review the ivy on a regular basis.

As always, we will endeavour to look into the points you raise.

My mum was diagnosed, in hospital, with terminal cancer. She was admitted to Belmont House in the Palliative Care unit. When my sister and I looked around prior to her admission, we were bowled over by the welcoming, friendly and professional attitude of everyone we met.

During her stay she has

been treated with the utmost respect and kindness. The staff are brilliant without exception.

My mother has been a resident at Belmont House since August 2015.
She has a lovely room on Courtyard with patio door out to the garden which makes it bright and welcoming.
The staff are really good with her as she is still very anxious and needs reassuring.
Unfortunately, last year she was diagnosed
with breast cancer and has subsequently undergone a mastectomy. Again, the staff were wonderful and extremely caring throughout the process. They have been helpful in ensuring she eats and drinks sufficient and has mostly stabilised her weight loss.
The staff are visibly a team who appear to go about their jobs in a caring and compassionate way, from the cleaners to the office staff and the support workers they all know my mother which is reassuring as I know she is being cared for not just as a resident but as a person they know and like.
The enthusiasm is evident with the team who provide entertainment which makes a huge difference to the quality of day to day life.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.985)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.985) out of 10 for Belmont House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.402 for Belmont House is calculated as follows: ( (88 Excellents x 5) + (77 Goods x 4) + (12 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 179 Ratings = 4.402
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.583 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Belmont House is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 106 registered maximum number of service users is 21.2. 15 Positive Reviews ÷ 21.2 = 0.708
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
