Fulford Nursing Home

Fulford Nursing Home looked after a family friend for several years with a high level of skill, enormous care and dignity and outstanding kindness. My experience, visiting her over the years, has always been of a home with a friendly, cheerful and very welcoming atmosphere both for residents and visitors. The day rooms are comfortable, warm and attractive and the staff going in and out clearly know each person well, talking to them and attending to their various needs in a way that shows their knowledge. In her bedroom, they created a personal corner for her taking care to put up her pictures and china so that it felt as homely for her.

Our friend was beautifully looked after and treated with dignity and respect. The staff always took any concerns she or I had seriously and responded to them. The staff at Fulford Nursing Home work very much as a team so she had consistency of care. I can never thank the staff enough for the care and kindness she received over her years at Fulford Nursing Home.

This is my first experience of living in a home and I am pleasantly surprised - particularly at the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff of all levels, management down to the floor cleaner. The only disappointment is my failure to be able to start to meet other residents (some of them never leave their rooms) and those who are hard of hearing only talk in whispers.

Cannot thank the team who looked after my father after a recent fall. Not only was the care amazing, the staff looked after the relatives just as well. Extremely thankful for the kindness and care my father received. He is truly grateful. Thank you so much.

The family was very happy that mum was in a lovely place being looked after well and being fed tasty gluten-free food. All the staff were so kind and patient and cheerful with all the residents including mum. Thank you for the good wishes in the card you sent subsequent to her return.

I enjoyed my stay at Fulford Home even though my profound deafness made it extremely hard work for the staff and guests to cope without excluding myself. An amazing choice of food and drink and is so well presented. I wish Fulford Nursing home every success.

The home is friendly and very clean. The food each day is very good "extremely" We are all lucky to be so well cared for. My thanks to all the staff.

Excellent care

I have been visiting the care home for over four years now, all the staff are so welcoming, friendly and attentive, there are plenty of activities held for the residents and feedback is collected regularly to make any improvements to their experience. Personal circumstances are always taken into consideration to best accommodate residents needs and make their life here as comfortable as possible. It is a beautiful thing to see!

My mother was sent to Fulford temporarily after breaking her wrist. The staff were excellent and caring.

I was discharged from York hospital to Fulford Nursing Home for rehabilitation after a fracture to my pelvis. I found the staff to be very caring and helpful. There were plenty of activities to keep us all entertained. The OT team worked with me every day until I was fit enough to climb the stairs and return home. Overall an excellent care home.

My stay at Fulford Nursing Home was excellent. No one can be faulted, all were very friendly and kind towards me. I was well looked after by all.

My wife came to Fulford Nursing Home at the end of May from hospital having had a stroke which affected her voice and swallowing. The home was a pleasure to visit and treatment from all the staff was excellent. During her short stay of three weeks, as she died on the 19th of June I was treated with great dignity by the staff on duty that night. I have visited many homes in the York area and this is in my opinion top of the list. My friends and my Minister who also visited my wife all made the same comments to me about the home. A great credit to all at the home.

Fulford us a friendly place with a family feel. It has a couple of points worth mentioning. One is the very attractive front garden where you can sit and chat and there there is the garden room in the back undisturbed by television.

The care and compassion from the staff have been excellent. All were so friendly and did everything possible to make me comfortable. The staff do a wonderful job.

During the coronavirus pandemic, my Nan went downhill rapidly. Her mental health and physical strength declined and as time went on, she was having more and more falls. Eventually, social services deemed that it was unsafe for her to be left alone and that 24/7 care was in her best interest. Myself and my family were heartbroken. This was something we had promised Nan we would never do and had believed we would never have to. Nan has already been a resident of Fulford Nursing Home for at least 8 months. She has made many friends with staff and other residents and constantly praises them to the heavens. I, myself, have seen the spectacular care given. It gives myself and my family peace of mind to know Nan is well looked after. Each time we visit, it’s as though we are visiting our extended family! I would recommend this home to anyone in a similar situation to ours.

My mother was admitted for a period of nine days under the remit of your community response team and received excellent care and attention whilst in the home from all of the staff.

Mum is very happy there, all staff are brilliant in helping her deal with the condition she finds herself in. All very cheerful and helpful and with dignity at all times. When I'm visiting, everyone is very friendly and helpful to me.

My 96-year-old Mum was admitted to Fulford Nursing Home in June and from day one the care, kindness and professionalism in the way Mum was treated was wonderful. The manager always had her many needs treated with care, respect and compassion, as did all the staff. My daughter and I were always welcomed into the home with warmth and friendliness, this is a well run and genuinely caring nursing home. Mums passing was peaceful there. Thank you all.

I was here for 3 weeks following a fall resulting in a fractured pelvis and humerus. Everyone was lovely from the cleaner up to the manager. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a smile and a friendly chat. I needed help with everything in the first week and certainly received all the help I needed. The food was of a high standard and on the odd occasion I didn't want anything on offer an alternative was always offered.
