Astell Care Centre

Management and staff were very caring and efficient when I spoke to them. Security is good all over the main building. Regular meals were provided for my father in his room as he wanted to stay there all the time. The room was clean and well laid out.

My wife has been a resident of Astell Care Centre for a number of years, in all the time she has been in their care she has received the best care. The staff have in veritably seen to residents the past few years and cared for her with passion and thorough professionalism, I feel very fortunate to have my wife in their capable hands.

Needed respite care at short notice after the care home I usually use let me down at the last moment. The Astell team were awesome! They were thorough ensuring the person would be cared for appropriately, checking preferences, medication, quirks, etc and arranged callbacks at times that suited me and stuck to the times agreed. The premises were immaculate and the staff were extremely welcoming. They couldn't have done more to make the temporary resident more comfortable. That person remarked repeatedly how there was always plenty of staff on hand and how good the food was. I do feel these are very important for people finding themselves in this position. I will be using this facility again without hesitation.

Care and support are second to none. Residents are treated with respect and dignity. The staff are polite and helpful.

I am very happy with the care my husband gets, he is always clean, shaved, and in his own clothes. The meals are very good, fresh veg and a balanced diet. Rooms and washing are cleaned and washed as often as they need to be, never left. All staff are caring and helpful and a good support to me as well.

My mother has advanced Alzheimer's and the management and staff in the care home do an excellent job of managing my mother's care and wellbeing.

My long term experience of the care provided to my mum has been excellent. The care team are always approachable and all have amazing qualities in the care they provide. The other members of this team; kitchen, laundry and domestic staff also demonstrate a level of professionalism I would expect to find. My mum's needs were met on a personal level by all of those involved.

My sister spent the last 6 months of her life at Astell Care Centre, I can't express enough how well she was loved and cared for by the team of carers. They always made me welcome and they treated my sister with compassion and dignity.

My husband has settled in well. The staff are very good with him, and he loves the food they provide. I'm happy with the care he has received during this terrible year and Covid-19 and isolation that had to be implemented which was unfortunate but necessary and think that Astell Care home has done a good job keeping residents safe.

I would like to thank all the staff for all the hard work and effort during this very difficult and challenging time during the Covid-19 pandemic. They are doing an excellent job keeping everyone safe and keeping me well informed of any changes.

I would like to thank everyone at Astell Care Centre, who made my dad's last few months very happy. Treating him with kindness and respect. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you all.

My dad went into Astell last August with dementia and was very well looked after by everyone, fed, dressed and took out on the times he was feeling ok. Everyone was really nice and very helpful, carers and staff even came to his funeral when he passed. I will recommend this care home, a safe and controlled care home which puts your mind at ease, many thanks to all at Astell.

Mum has been a resident at Astell Care Centre for nearly a year. Have always found the staff friendly and approachable and the care of mum has been great, through difficult times.

Visited my dad and found him wanting to go home as he said he was just visiting for the day. He got rather upset when I told him I could not take him home tonight. He was aggressive towards me, it's hard to cope with his dementia today was the worst I've seen him. I want to say thank you to the staff who are always pleasant and helpful, they calmed him down and convinced him to stop tonight. There are some real diamonds working there and I can't thank them enough for the way they conduct themselves in the care and interaction with the patients and the visitors. You hear some horror stories about care homes but this one is a shining example of how the elderly should be cared for.

My husband and I spent a lot of time and effort looking for a new home for him. We initially had a lot of misgivings about him moving to a challenging behaviour unit but these disappeared as soon as we met the staff. From our first meeting with the outstanding staff at Astell Care Centre, we were so relieved that we had finally found a team that seemed to understand his problems and have some idea of how to work with him effectively. We visited regularly over the last six months and found that staff were always calm, kind and professional, even when dealing with some quite challenging situations. They could connect with my father-in-law even when he was quite wound up. We were informed of any important developments in my father-in-law's care.

Mam has been here since January 2017. The care and staff have been excellent in caring for and looking after my Mam who has advanced Alzheimer's. She can be challenging to care for but I could not be more impressed with all the staff looking after her.

There is nothing bad to say about this care home. Everybody who works here is fantastic. If we have any questions, somebody is always there to answer. My grandad is very very well looked after and he is very happy here, as he has told us many time.

Everyone is caring and my grandad is really happy here. We know he is well looked after. He is always clean. It feels like a home not a hospital. My grandad has changed so much since being here.
