Although I am generally happy about the level of care that she receives at Waverley Lodge and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I am most certainly firmly against their plans to move my mother upstairs where the more severe dementia cases are as I feel it would be very detrimental to my mother's own health and that she would deteriorate much more rapidly.

Reply from Julie Walker, CRO at Waverley Lodge Care Home

We appreciate that this is a worrying time for the family but as always we have the best interests of the resident foremost in our minds. After consultations between health care professionals, family and staff, we believe that moving the resident to a suite that has nurses and carers who are...

My mother has been well looked after by all the staff. She enjoys the days out and the activities within the home. The home is always clean and tidy and the staff are excellent. At the minute it's being redecorated. They are doing a good job looking after my mum and her friends. My mum's room it's a nice size with a wardrobe and drawers. She has her own toilet which is always clean. They have a TV room and the freedom to walk around all day long and all night, without the worry of anyone getting out. I would recommend this home just because the staff are one in a million. They work so hard but love the job so much the loving care they give to everyone. It's just like one big family and they have time to stop and talk to the families if they need any help, as well they had a very good team from the carers, from the chef from the handyman and management as well. They are always so happy and helpful.

Mum was only in Waverley Lodge for a couple of months. the care she received was fantastic. all her needs were catered to the staff went above and beyond from the Manager, Admin staff, Carers and the handyman. All showed an interest in Mum's needs and we were welcomed on every visit and informed of Mum's changing needs. Waverley Lodge may not be the poshest home to look at but the care Mum received was fantastic. Mum died comfortably and with dignity. Thank you to all the staff.

My father arrived at the care home in April this year suffering from Dementia, he had previously been in sheltered housing but the Dementia had progressed to the stage that he needed full-time care.
He arrived worried and confused as you would expect, but very quickly the staff made home feel at home
Within a week or two, he was loving it there and had begun to make some friends and had actually put on weight, he loved the meals.

The staff are excellent and always attentive.

Overall Experience

My sister-in-law is on the main corridor down to the lounge so it tends to be a bit noisy and busy. The staff have been brilliant. Any concerns have been addressed quickly and although no one wants to be in a home the move has been efficient and my sister-in-law, after a time of low mood is more settled and relaxed.

My dad has been in 3 homes before Waverley and he has settled really well. He knew most of the staff because his mam was in for 8 years, and it deals with all his needs.
