Croft Dene Care Home is in the Wallsend area of North Tyne side and offers general and dementia residential care.

They carry out a robust preadmission assessment before admission to the home and all residents receive personal care plans that are reviewed and updated on a monthly basis or as required. They encourage residents and their families to be involved in their care plan and hold 6 monthly care reviews.

A variety of social and outdoor activities are offered as part of the home's drive to improve the physical and mental well-being elderly in long-term care.

Had an excellent Valentine's meal organised by the care home. We all had a brilliant time and didn't have to lift a finger. Staff are always very helpful and caring.

Am very pleased to do this review, as a lot of care homes get bad press. I have found Croft Dene to be very supportive and very friendly toward my mam, who sometimes can be a handful. When my mam fell ill last month, they got her the help she needed from her GP and even called the paramedics to check
her over. The one staff has looked after my mam since. Plus, they keep the family up to date on Mam's progress. We couldn't ask any more of the staff and would like to take this opportunity to say - thank you!

When I call at the care home to visit my mother, I find the staff kind, considerate, understanding, compassionate and always with a little humour and a twinkle in their eye. Just enough to make the residents feel at home without offending. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. The rooms are spacious
and well-kept. My mother is happy here with all her new friends.

From the moment they open the door, the staff have a smile and a welcome. Everyone is pleasant and friendly, always ready to inform me how my mam is. If I have any concerns they check it out thoroughly and let me know the outcome.

Fantastic welcome and entertainment. The cake and sparkles were spot on and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The staff were great with the party and residents. It was great to see all the family and friends celebrating Nan's 100th.

Nice family feel. I am always made to feel welcome.
The home is light and airy and very clean. The staff are kind, generous, spirited and professional. My husband is obviously well looked after and cared for. The phone is always answered promptly.
My husband had a lovely 102nd birthday organised
by the home.

My mum became a resident in the dementia residential section of Croft Dene Care Home two months ago. The staff at Croft Dene have been excellent in making her feel welcome and helping her to settle in. I have found all of the employees including the managers, administration, carers and domestic staff
to be very friendly, attentive and caring to both the residents and their families. The deputy manager and senior carer ensured they understood my mum's medical history, her food and drink preferences and who her key family members were. Croft Dene has enabled me to personalize her room so it feels homely and familiar and there is a lovely, lively atmosphere in the home. Since she has been at Croft Dene, my mum has become more mobile and sociable, she has been eating better and most importantly she has not had any falls or accidents. We are very happy with the level of care my mum is getting and would recommend Croft Dene to others.

As a family, we are so pleased with the care my husband receives. It was his birthday recently, the home has been in lockdown, so staff went out of their way to give him a great day; they also send me videos of him opening his cards and present and him blowing out candles on his cake.

The complications my mother has with dementia and having a stoma, which Mam still does not know she has, has been very challenging but the staff here at Croft Dene Care Home have done everything I have asked for in keeping Mam clean, well looked after, fed and most of all safe.
That is all I can ask
of them. I am so glad I chose this care home for my mam.

The title 'care home' is 5-star appropriate. 'Care' to my sister and observed to other residents, with empathy, patience, appropriate humour shared, to name but a few reasons of 'care'. 'Home' as staff respecting it is the residents' 'home' for which witnessed all possible is provided to ensure residents
feel comfortable, safe, happy to live at their home. My family and myself are now able to sleep at night knowing my sister is well cared for.

My mother came to this home for 5 weeks and she was very reluctant to come in. The manager and carers made my mum feel very welcome and looked after her very well during her stay. Due to the pandemic, there were extra cleaning and safety measures in place however we always felt welcomed and we could
contact our mum through VideoCall and visit the home through the visiting pods, which is such a great idea.
Croft Dene catered for my mum's special dietary needs, there was plenty of choice and she enjoyed the food they served.
She was staying in over the Christmas break and there was plenty of activities and joy to keep my mum and her new friend busy and happy.
I would personally like to say a big thank you for caring for my mum.

Mum was a resident in Croft Dene after suffering a tall in her previous care home which resulted in a fractured hip. Due to Covid restrictions, I was unable to visit mum inside the care home but it was obvious that she was being well looked after. Thanks to the staff for the dignity mum was given during
her final days.

My father has been a resident of this care home for the last nine years, he has quite demanding needs, the staff, as far as I can see, have always done their very best for him.
2020 has been an awful year, with no visits allowed since March, but I can honestly say I have not been worried, as I know
he has been looked after during this awful pandemic.
Thank you to all the staff for your years of hard work, especially these last few months!

This care home is a hidden little gem. I phoned Croft Dene up asking for information about the home, spoke to a very nice lady who offered me a look around and I took the offer up on the same day. I was amazed with the facilities, it was beautifully decorated throughout and all the bedrooms with own
en-suite. All the staff were all very nice and caring and nothing was any bother. I am pleased to leave my mum here.

I sometimes feel the resident is just 'left' and at times looks uncomfortable and also could do with a shower.
No kettle in the kitchen and not allowed to eat food in the dayroom. Mother loves a cup of tea, as do a few others.
Not even seen or sure if there is a tea trolley anymore. It is the resident's
home after all and she pays for it - it needs home comforts.
