My mam moved into Croft Dene in July 2022 and received excellent care until she passed away in December 2024. The staff have got to know us all as a family and supported my dad, who visited mam every day. They also looked after his well being and made him so welcome. We are so thankful for the compassion
shown to both of my parents. We as a family shared many happy moments in Croft Dene; music and singing, cakes for birthdays, Valentines meals and Sunday lunches for mam and dad, afternoon tea for Mothers Day etc.
Reply from Bernadette Cromwell, Head of Marketing at Croft DeneThank you so much for sharing such a heartfelt review. We are deeply honoured to have been part of your family's journey, and it's truly rewarding to hear that your mother received excellent care during her time with us. We will always remember your family with warmth and appreciation.

I feel reassured when I'm not with my mum that the staff not only look after mum's physical needs but also support her emotionally, especially after the death of my dad 2 months ago.
Manager, senior care staff involve me in mum's care and are very approachable. I could not cope without their support.
I
love how affectionate they are with mum as she misses that from her husband.
Reply from Bernadette Cromwell, Head of Marketing at Croft DeneThank you for your heartfelt review. We're so glad to hear that you feel reassured knowing your mum is receiving both physical and emotional support from our team. Your kind words about our staff and their affection towards your mum mean a lot to us.

My brother-in-law is 94 and is well cared for in Croft Dene. We find the staff always go the extra mile to be helpful because we live 300 miles away - we are so grateful for the help the staff give. We telephone each day and the staff are happy to speak to me and give me a daily update.

Our mam was a resident at Croft Dene for two and a half years before her recent passing.
During her stay there, she was very happy, very comfortable and settled.
The staff are so friendly and approachable and they go above and beyond at all times. Her care was always fantastic till the very end and
they were so compassionate and treated her with dignity - she was in very safe hands for which we were so very grateful.
Croft Dene is a lovely care home which we would highly recommend.

I can’t thank all of the staff at Croft Dene Care Home for the outstanding care which was provided to my nana. She moved to Croft Dene in 2023 and she was so well cared for and you could see how happy she was there. Every member of the team is always so welcoming and warm. Thank you all for the care
you provided to my nana during her last year!

Overall I and my family have been very pleased with our experience with Croft Dene. The staff have been excellent in their kindness of care. However, the communication with the main office regarding invoicing and financial awareness/communication has a lot to be desired. Communication and customer awareness.
Croft Dene's office management and staff could not be more helpful and proactive.

From the senior management down, there us a culture of care, sympathy and dignity displayed towards residents. My father was a resident for several months before he passed away (18/02/02023) and it was apparent that he was held in the highest esteem by all staff. Will not hesitate to recommend Croft
Dene Care Home to any person looking for a home for their loved one.

Am very pleased to do this review, as a lot of care homes get bad press. I have found Croft Dene to be very supportive and very friendly toward my mam, who sometimes can be a handful. When my mam fell ill last month, they got her the help she needed from her GP and even called the paramedics to check
her over. The one staff has looked after my mam since. Plus, they keep the family up to date on Mam's progress. We couldn't ask any more of the staff and would like to take this opportunity to say - thank you!

When I call at the care home to visit my mother, I find the staff kind, considerate, understanding, compassionate and always with a little humour and a twinkle in their eye. Just enough to make the residents feel at home without offending. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. The rooms are spacious
and well-kept. My mother is happy here with all her new friends.

My mum became a resident in the dementia residential section of Croft Dene Care Home two months ago. The staff at Croft Dene have been excellent in making her feel welcome and helping her to settle in. I have found all of the employees including the managers, administration, carers and domestic staff
to be very friendly, attentive and caring to both the residents and their families. The deputy manager and senior carer ensured they understood my mum's medical history, her food and drink preferences and who her key family members were. Croft Dene has enabled me to personalize her room so it feels homely and familiar and there is a lovely, lively atmosphere in the home. Since she has been at Croft Dene, my mum has become more mobile and sociable, she has been eating better and most importantly she has not had any falls or accidents. We are very happy with the level of care my mum is getting and would recommend Croft Dene to others.

As a family, we are so pleased with the care my husband receives. It was his birthday recently, the home has been in lockdown, so staff went out of their way to give him a great day; they also send me videos of him opening his cards and present and him blowing out candles on his cake.

The complications my mother has with dementia and having a stoma, which Mam still does not know she has, has been very challenging but the staff here at Croft Dene Care Home have done everything I have asked for in keeping Mam clean, well looked after, fed and most of all safe.
That is all I can ask
of them. I am so glad I chose this care home for my mam.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.753)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.753) out of 10 for Croft Dene is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.753 for Croft Dene is calculated as follows: ( (220 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 279 Ratings = 4.753
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Croft Dene is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
