My uncle has received excellent care at The Ferns. The staff are amazing and it's a friendly place to visit. My uncle always looks well looked after and cared for. The food always looks great too. Thank you!
Hi, thank you so much for the feedback. Ill be sure to pass it on to the team.
My mum's care started in Oct 25, from the very first week staff made huge efforts to get to know her and ensure she felt safe and comfortable. Staff always treat her with dignity and respect and make sure she feels included in any decisions about her care. The activities are regular and varied, tailored to the needs of the residents with individual sessions to ensure inclusion. The family have all observed how happy mum is in her new home.
My Dad is so well looked after and so happy at The Ferns, I can't thank the staff enough. I am comforted knowing my Dad is safe and looked after if I cant get there to see him.
Hi, thank you so much for the feedback. Ill be sure to pass it on to the team.
Excellent facilities staff are brilliant can't do enough for my mum also for any visitors that she has coming to visit her they also keep me informed of any changes to her treatment etc which is a big factor of her health and well being
I'm glad to here that you have had a positive experience. Ill be sure to pass it on to the team. Thanks
I have nothing but praise for all the staff. The care and time they gave to me was fantastic. Being helped with showers, laundry etc. was as good as I imagine you can get anywhere. I have not picked out any member of staff for they are all the best.
Hi Brian, I'm so happy that you receive kind care, that makes you feel comfortable and content. I'll be sure to pass on your thoughts to all the team. Thanks.
Thank you so much.
Hi Brian, I'm so glad you had a positive experience whilst staying with us. I will pass on your kind words to the team. Thanks Dale
Sharing experience. My Mum cannot fault the support network from start to finish. The food was varied and wholesome and with Mum being a fussy eater the chef did exceptionally well. Thank you!
Hi Nicola, I'm so glad to hear that your Mum had a positive experience with us. I will pass this on to the team who were more than happy to help your Mum on her recovery journey.
The Ferns really helped my mother to continue her recovery after being in hospital. She was well fed and the activities team worked hard to keep the residents fit and stimulated. There are some very devoted staff in this home who do their best in sometimes difficult circumstances. Thank you everyone.
Thank you for those kind words. I'm glad that your mum had a positive experience with us and that we were able to be part of her journey of recovery. I will be certain to pass this on to the team.
When first entering The Ferns, I thought it had a lovely feeling, warm and caring. The staff and everyone who does the looking after, everyone could not be nicer. I could not have a bad word to say about them. They go up and over to please.
Thanks for your kind comments, I'll be sure to pass them on to the team.
This was my second stay in the intermediate care unit. My first stay earlier this year showed me how caring the staff were. My second stay of about a month showed no evidence that standards had slipped in any way. I was met with the same care, support and dignity from all the staff of the unit.
That is fantastic to hear. I'll make sure I pass these comments on to the team.
The Ferns have been absolutely incredible while my mother has been under their care. Every member of staff has been amazing. Nothing is too much trouble, even when I have stopped and asked lots of questions. It has a very friendly atmosphere from the minute you walk through the door. Thank you to everybody from the bottom of our hearts. It has been great peace of mind knowing that she has been here.
Hi Alison, thank you so much for your kind words. I will be sure to pass them on to the team.
I have had a friend in The Fern for nearly 2 years now and I visit 3 times a week and take her out in the wheelchair once a fortnight. I have always found the staff very helpful and pleasant. They keep the residents entertained as much as possible. They are all very hardworking. I always feel they do the best they can considering resources. It must be hard for them sometimes, there is only 2 staff on the shift. Overall I don't find much to complain about, they hold parties etc for residents, I would say they really care about them.
Thank you for your kind comments that I will pass on to the team.
Hello Manager and her team. My sister stayed with you for 2 weeks after her hip replacement. You and your staff were absolutely brilliant. The service and care was top-notch. Nothing was too much trouble. All very friendly like home from home. I would like to thank you all for your dedication and care of my sister.
Hi Karen, thank you so much for the kind words. I will be sure to pass them on to the team. Thanks, Registered Manager.
I stayed in the rehab unit at The Ferns for 3 weeks 05/04/24-26/04/24. Overall I was very happy with my care and treatment. My meds were promptly delivered and I mostly had my meals in my room. After a difficult experience in another setting the contrast in care and attention I greatly appreciated. Thank you to all the carers. Physio with great patience, got me to use the stairs again. Although still experiencing back pain I am hopeful this condition will improve.
Hi Sheila, thank you for your kind comments, which I will pass on to the team. I'm so glad that you had a positive experience.
I arrived at The Ferns Care Home from hospital on the evening of 18th February 2024 and was greeted by various members of staff in my very comfortable room. They gave me a short but enlightening talk of what had been arranged for me, e.g. lactose malt-free dairy products, the various facilities and aids that would help me and the opportunity to ask questions. It was all very friendly and put me at ease knowing I was in safe hands. Every day of my stay was an absolute pleasure and gave me confidence in building up my mobility to return home and on the way to full recovery. Many thanks to all the staff.
Thank you for your kind comments that I will pass on to the team. I'm happy that your stay with us was a very positive experience and helped you get back home.
The staff are very good and will do anything for you.

However, the layout of the bedrooms needs a rethink by management actually using them.

The home was unclean and my dad was not looked after properly and basically when he became end of life, the hospital is when he started to receive the duty of care he was entitled to. There is an ongoing investigation with the CQC.
Some of the staff are lovely to speak to but the home is in need of improvement. Facilities are very poor and staff need training. Recording on care notes is an issue too. Some meals were left for hours and others were provided without removing old food.
Basically, in my eyes, they failed in their duty of care. Not something I can ever forgive them for.
