My father came to Donwell House from hospital for palliative care. We were very nervous about moving him to a care home, but all that vanished as soon as we met the staff and saw how they treated him. The warmth, care and dignity they provided for him in his last 4 weeks was amazing. My dad didn't always
make it easy for them as he was quite agitated during the night, but they really supported both him and my Mum during this difficult period. I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone placing your loved one in their care.

When I visit the home to see my wife I am always met with a smile from the management and asked if I am ok. This means a lot to me. The carers and nurses look after my wife well. I know she is ok which gives me great peace of mind.

My dad went to Donwell as he had an aggressive brain tumour, and he was palliative when he went. Dad had spent five weeks in the hospital as we struggled to find a care package to get him home or into somewhere that could care for him.
A place at Donwell House became available, and after visiting and
chatting with the staff (who all knew he was coming even two days before!) and the nurses, we felt it was the right place.
It felt welcoming, warm, comforting and clean, with a good ratio of staff to patients, a registered nurse was always on site (two, a lot of the time), and everyone was caring.
Dad was only there for less than two weeks sadly, but they couldn't have done more for him. Every member of the family, who went, said that they were impressed by the level of care and the team.
I wouldn't have chosen anywhere else for my dad's last days as I felt he was safe and well cared for... I only wish that he'd been there sooner.

My grandad was only in Donwell House for four weeks before he sadly died. However, the care he received was second to none. He was very happy in the short time he was there. The care standard, staffing ratio and dignity and respect from all staff at Donwell House were exceptional. Thank you for looking

Although my father was a resident in Donwell House for a short time before he suddenly passed away, the care and support he received from all members of staff were second to none. He was always treated with respect and dignity and his needs were met. He was always offered alternative food if he didn't
want what was on the menu and if he wanted to stay in bed instead of getting up, he was always cared for well. I can't thank the staff enough for their care to my father and my family.

My wife was discharged from the hospital on end of life care with an expectancy of days or possibly weeks to live. A care plan was implemented and because of the dedicated organisation of care my wife received by all the staff from senior management, nursing and care staff my wife's physical condition
improved so much that end of life care was no longer applicable. She still receives the most excellent care nineteen months on. Grateful thanks to all staff, especially for the compassion and dedication.

As my mother has only been in Donwell House Nursing Home since the 24th of March I can only rate good for most things as this is too early to tell, but having said that in the short while my mother has been there she has become more happy, settled and for the first time in months I have seen her smile,
this proves to me Donwell are doing something right.

My gran has been in Donwell for a number of years and the last couple of years my grandad too. Always found them amazing, friendly and caring. Over the last couple of months, my grandad has become very unwell and staff at Donwell are always straight on the phone to me whilst giving him excellent care
if there is any problem. He is in hospital at the moment but still has contact with me and always gives me support. Couldn’t have chosen a better place for them to live their final years.

My mother-in-law is so happy at this care home. She is so well looked after and cared for even though she has very challenging needs. Staff are fantastic with her and treat her like their own family. She loves the food and has even gained some weight which was definitely needed from when she first arrived.

My mother is being looked after by the lovely staff in Donwell House. She has dementia and is immobile due to breaking her hip and not being able to walk now, but the carers are fabulous and make sure she’s comfortable and attended to. I don’t live close by and rely on them to do everything for her.

My father in law age 96 was in Donwell House Nursing Home due to fall risk and with Alzheimer's Dementia and severely sight impaired along with other problems. The care that he recieved was second to none, he was a gentleman that did not want to leave his own home but settled in very quickly due to
the friendly staff and around the clock supervision. He has now sadly passed away and I can't express my thanks enough to everyone in Donwell House Nursing Home for the loving care that he received also to the support given to myself and my son.
Everyone is extremely friendley and thoughtful to your needs.

Where do I start? The staff, management and running of this care facility is amazing. They all care and the comfort, care, dignity and happiness of the resident are their top priority. The activity's undertaken by the home are fun and thoughtful. My mum is constantly smiling. The staff here do not stop,
but nothing is too much trouble and are always friendly and smiling. The nursing side also deserves high praise. My dad is being looked after with care and dignity as life is drawing to an end, their kindness will be remembered.

The staff and management were brilliant with my husband; gave him the best care anyone could have. He was only in a short time, but I felt he was given all the care he needed. He had a lovely room, very clean and comfortable. I am very grateful to everybody who looked after him in his last few days.

My mother was a resident in Donwell House for 9 months before she passed away. Mam needed a lot of care as she was double incontinent and could hardly walk. Her room was always clean and tidy (bedding changed daily) as were her clothes.
The carers took great pride in their work and mam was always dress
in coordinating colours, then a matching blanket would be added as she was watching tv in the resident's lounge. there were always plenty of enticing food and drinks around if mam wished to snack between meals.
The care and compassion shown were excellent. My mother died during the coronavirus lockdown but the manager made sure gwe could still visit mam as she did not have the coronavirus herself so we could be with her as she passed.

My mother has been in Donwell House since September 2019, in this time she has been looked after extremely well. The staff have gone above and beyond there normal duties, displaying exceptional professional and empathy at all times during the time leading up to my mothers passing. I was kept involved
and the communications were excellent. This was also under exceptional circumstances (Covid-19), therefore every member of staff at Donwell House should be commended.

I had a good friend who lived at Donwell for five years until her death in December 2019 since new management came in I seen great improvement while my friend lived there, I would recommend this home to anyone who is considering to put a family member in Donwell to have a look around it. In the last
few months of my friend's life she was looked after well and if I had any complaints I knew management would sort it out.

I would definitely recommend this care home, the staff are 2nd to none. My dad is extremely happy and enjoys the outings arranged by the activities coordinator. He really enjoys his meals and has put weight on since he arrived there in September 2919. Previously he wasn't eating properly. So all in
all a really good plus for the hone. The manager is fab and always has time to listen to your chat.

As a friend of several residents, I am very impressed with every aspect of the home, particularly the care and compassion shown by the staff.
The home has now become a “Community Hub” encouraging all parts of the community to hold meetings/events etc also involving residents in the activities.
There
is a varied amount of activities carried out both in the home and community, this also involves regular trips out on the Minibus.
Staff are lovely, home is very clean and management is efficient and effective.
