Since Covid-19 nursing homes have been very challenged and have to develop different strategies to keep residents safe, entertained and find alternative ways to allow them to continue to engage with friends and family. The manager and staff at St George's have been amazing and have risen to the challenge.
They encourage all to engage with a very full entertainment program, encourage zoom/telephone calls and post daily photos on social media. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff, appear genuinely caring and nothing seems to much trouble. Everybody is extremely polite and there is a lot of humour which is essential in this environment. I have no criticisms and would have no hesitation about recommending St George’s.

Best decision we made!
I am so glad that we made the decision to move my dad to St George's Residential Home. He, himself has also stated that he should have been there from the start. The staff are caring and helpful and nothing is ever a bother. After having a bad experience at a previous home (a
different company) with not having enough to eat, this home is the total opposite - he can have anything he likes and anytime and I am happy to hear that my dad is enjoying his food and never hungry. Overall, I feel he is being well looked after and I trust the staff to look after my dad especially in these hard times. Thank you St George's Residential Home.

I would not recommend anyone to put their family in this home. I can not fault the staff especially the care staff. They are very good at what they do and very polite but it seems that every time I have been they are always short-staffed and overworked. Due to being short, they are unable to provide
the right care needed, some of the team leaders are more than happy to do everything they can to assist with our concerns and enquiries as the current manager always says she will sort things out or get back to you but she never does or never available to talk. There is very little communication where the manager is concerned. I feel she is not interested. When I talk to my relative they are always saying they are hungry they always seem to be doing the same activities and care staff always seem to be doing them. It's a shame to put this on as I feel 7 or 8 months ago the home was at its best and I would have recommended it to anyone, but the last 2 or 3 months, the home seriously dropped its standard.

Throughout the pandemic despite the home having the virus, the performance of both the management of the group and the staff at the home has been amazing.
The quality and humanity if the care has exceeded any expectation you could have and they have gone the extra mile to keep relatives well informed
on events unfolding. The new, COVID secure visit pod is also impressive.

My Dad, who has dementia, entered St George's directly from a month-long stay in hospital. In the first week that he has been there the transformation is remarkable.
He is much brighter and content with his surroundings.
In hospital, he was not eating, but here the staff are encouraging him to do
so. It may not seem a lot but he had his first full meal (fish&chips) in a month.
He has been shaved and had a haircut neither of which occurred in hospital. He has also had a bath and is being changed into clean clothes on a daily basis.
The staff are attentive and treat my dad as a human being rather than just being plonked down in a chair in front of a telly.
The home itself is well run, calm and clean. There are no nasty odours in the air which I was surprised at on my first visit.
A trip out is being organised for him and St George's offer a wide variety of activities in which I hope he will take part.
I could not be happier with the way my dad is being cared for.

My first contact with the home - St George's - was meeting the manager who was friendly, welcoming, professional and compassionate as well as understanding. This continued to the care home staff I have met.
My mother is 101 years old and they just know how to speak to her for her to respond. The home
itself is bright, calm, modern and a place you would want to be.
I find it very peaceful when I visit. I cannot praise it enough. I am so pleased I found it.

My husband has been a service user for long and short periods of time at St. George's Residential Home since November 2017. Throughout this time the quality of care he has received has been excellent. This high standard of care never varies. The management team and staff are consistently kind, caring
and professional. I am secure in the knowledge that when I am not there, my husband is safe secure and well cared for.

My husband went into St Georges for respite care as he is in the final stages of cancer. I am looking after him at home and I hurt my back lifting him. The management and staff were fantastic, I spent most of each day at the home with my husband and was very impressed with the caring attitude of all

My Mam recently passed away in St George's Residential Care Home. Her end of life care she received by every single member of staff was exceptional. Mam was treated with so much love, respect and dignity, they also supported myself, my husband and daughter, I never felt alone as I spent precious time
with my Mam and for that, I will be forever grateful. It's a beautiful home, extremely homely, fantastic caring staff, so many activities, we could not have asked for more. I would highly recommend St. George's care home, thank you to each and every member of staff.

I have visited St George's Residential Home each week since it opened in a voluntary capacity as a pastoral worker at the church next door. My mother was also resident there for some years. The dedicated staff give excellent care to each resident and they seek to give the home as much as a family atmosphere
as possible and also give good support to the families.

St George's was recommended to us and my Aunt viewed herself before committing to a stay. She thought it was a very friendly place she could settle into. The staff are great with her and she gets out and about quite a bit with the different activities they have going on. She is well cared for and I

Adam Brennan

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2025

Having always been a champion of health and social care, Adam’s career in the care sector began in 2014 when he started working as a Care Assistant. In 2022, his journey with Wellburn Care Homes began when he joined Glenholme House as a Team Leader. Over the course of his time at Glenholme House, Adam flourished and was promoted to Deputy Manager in early 2023. In April 2025, Adam was promoted to Home Manager of St George’s. Under Adam’s direction, St George’s has continued to thrive, and prides itself on offering first-class, person-led care in a comfortable and luxurious setting.


Qualifications:
NVQ Level 3 in Lead Adult Care Worker.
Currently working towards NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Adult Care.

Lauren’s journey with Wellburn began in October 2017 as Team Leader. After taking a well-deserved maternity leave in 2019, Lauren returned and was promoted to Deputy Manager in November 2023.
