I visited my close friend yesterday at Garden House 10/2/26
My friend is 'end of life' so I wanted to go on and sit with her a while.
The room was so calm and lovely. It was extremely clean and cosy.
There was calming music playing and the bed looked comfortable.
My friend looked and comfortable,clean
and calm.
I let the manager Freda know how lovely it felt and it's such a comfort to a family or friend to experience this level of care.
I want to add all the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

I have been impressed by the care that Mam has received in Glenholme house. The staff have been very helpful including updating and acting on her care plan to get her downstairs more. The costs while expensive in absolute terms are in line with those of other homes in the region of a similar standard.

Riverhead Hall

from Karen C (Daughter of Resident) published on 10 February 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum had lived in Riverhead for 12 and a half years until she passed. My mum had primary progressive MS and until recently due to her powerchair had been able to do everything that she wanted to do. The support has been great and even when things had to change as my mum's condition worsened they would
work together to find answers.
They introduced an award that my mum nominated a member of staff to receive each month. She loved to be involved. When she first went in, she helped set up the resident and relatives forum allowing all parties to have a voice.
The home and its staff go out of their way to meet the needs of the residents and there varying needs.
When my mum had to go into care in 2013, I knew we had chosen the right place when one of the existing residents had gone to 'reception' to get his newspapers. He saw it as a hotel.
I would be happy to be in care at Riverhead hall following this experience. I would recommend them and do.

I have been blown away by the care shown to my Dad since he moved into Glenholme, in Nov 2025. From the very first meeting, the team showed a holistic approach to his care, including supporting all of us through the transition. The team have turned what was a gut wrenching decision to have to make,
into a positive and seamless experience. Every aspect of my Dad's care gets excellent attention, from ensuring he's dressed smartly to dealing with serious medical emergencies. They've also taken the time to get to know him as an individual - from what he likes to eat ( he loves the food!) , to engaging him in SAFC banter. The team also look after my Mam when she visits - providing practical and emotional support. The atmosphere in the home is welcoming, with lots of chat and laughter, and has the feeling of a home, not an institution. This makes all the difference. Knowing he is in such a supportive and warm environment brings real peace of mind. Forever thankful.

My Dad went into Glenholme House following a spell in hospital which meant he was unable to return home. The manager went well beyond what was required to help me to navigate the care system which is lacking in general advice and proves to be very stressful. I would like to thank her for her time, patience
and respect. My Dad has never given anything but praise for every member of staff and is very complimentary about the food. As a family, we have been so impressed with Glenholme House that we have taken the decision for our Mam to move in so that they can be together. Again, I have had nothing but patience, help and advice to whoever I have spoken to.
I have been kept up to date with any developments affecting my Dad and I am more than happy that procedures are followed.
Thank you all for the care, respect and dignity given to my Dad, it means so much.

Mum went into care after a stay in hospital a year ago. It's not something she would have wanted, but from arriving the staff have been amazing with her. On the whole the home is kept very clean and the food is plentiful. When we visit we are always offered a drink & biscuits and encouraged to participate
in any activities/entertainment that's going on. What I do find very helpful is the fact we are always updated about everything ongoing with mum & illness if it occurs in the home. Very impressed with the whole package from the carers, entertainment and management.

I am very happy with the superb care Avril receives. She always looks well dressed and clean. Her room and ensuite bathroom are always tidy and clean too. The variety of activities are first class, as is the variety of food. The staff- every one- are always helpful to me with any queries and concerns,
they are also smartly attired to carry out their duties.

Plenty of activities going on, on a daily basis.
Staff worked extremely hard for the emerald declaration, so pleased they came first as a loft of blood sweat and tears were shed. Overall very pleased with the care that my mother-in-law receives.

Nightingale Hall

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My uncle has now been a resident at Nightingale Hall Care Home for almost three months. Initially, he intended to transition to a supported living arrangement, but his experience at Nightingale has led him to change his mind and embrace a long-term stay. The care he has received is nothing short of
fantastic, and he often expresses his gratitude for the genuine kindness and respect shown by the staff. My uncle thrives on company, and he is never short of it here. Despite the staff's busy schedules, they always make a point to stop by his room for a friendly chat or to simply check in on him. This personal touch has made a significant difference in his daily life. The staff have worked diligently to integrate him with other residents, encouraging him to join them for meals in the dining room which he now does happily. Their attentiveness and professionalism shine through, as they ensure that every resident feels safe, comfortable, and valued.
