Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 out of 10 for Nightingale Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 16 Reviews over all time.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.763 for Nightingale Hall is calculated as follows: ( (147 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 186 Ratings = 4.763

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews; 3.00 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Nightingale Hall is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3.00 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 8.4 positive Reviews (42 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 9 Reviews ÷ 8.4 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.8Nightingale Hall has a Review Score of 9.8 (9.763) out of 10 and an Average Rating of 4.8 out of 5 from 16 Reviews over all time

My Mother has now been a resident of Nightingale Hall Care Home for about three months. When she arrived she was not well and very anxious and confused. It has been wonderful to see the steady improvement in my Mothers health, happiness and cognition. To begin with, my Mother did not want to leave her
room at all. Nightingale has slowly and patiently enticed her to venture down to one of the comfortable lounges, and she is now a frequent visitor. Just yesterday she took part in a craft event with some visiting children and she had a ball. Ma has also enjoyed a visit to a garden centre for fish and chips, a superb puppet show, a kiss from Elvis, a very entertaining singer, cake making, singing and music. Her Alzheimers is no longer the massive problem it was as she is getting so much support all through the day. The food at Nightingale Hall is excellent and plentiful, and tea seems to be in constant supply. The staff are lovely as well as being very well trained and professional.

My mother is not the easiest dementia patient but the staff have been excellent. They have the patience, are friendly and so nice. The home is clean and she is well looked after. I am very happy with the home and the care my mother has and continues to receive.

Mum has lived at Nightingale Hall since 2015. She says herself it's like a 5-star hotel and nothing is too much trouble. Mum needs a hoise to move from chair to wheelchair but recently has participated in the activities and quizzes and outings. After a fall from a hospital bed a few weeks ago she has
been bedbound bu the care and attention she has received from the staff has been exemplary. I cannot praise them highly enough.

My mother has been at Nightingale Hall since May 2017 and this has changed her life. Her illness has continued to develop but she is in a safe/secure caring environment.
The staff are all caring and the communication from the home, whenever there has been a problem, has been superb. This is a wonderful
establishment.

I have 100% confidence in the manager and his deputy. They both are very proactive, very approachable and really listen and care about their residents. The staff are happy and clearly enjoy the upbeat atmosphere in Nightingale Hall. There are some staff who go more than the extra mile, these people
are simply fantastic and worth their weight in gold. My mum is safe in their hands. Thank you.

I find the staff to be friendly and helpful, the premises are well maintained and kept clean at all times, the activities are varied and more is being done to improve these.
The lounge where they all sit is very pleasant and light, a relaxing place for them.
I feel very confident my Mum is receiving
very good care, for which I am very grateful.

We are very pleased with the management, most of the staff are fantastic. The hairdresser and her daughter are so lovely with mam. Since the new manager has arrived, there has been some good changes, for example, the lounge has a better layout of seats so they can talk to each other. Another good thing
is that the manager writes everything down and gets things done. He also speaks to everyone rather than sitting in his office. The kitchen staff are lovely. One minor observation, would it be possible for all staff to wear badges clearly marked with their names so the residents see who they are talking to?

Nightingale Hall was home to my parents for over five years. My mother passed away in August 2016, three years after my father. Words are inadequate to describe the complete peace of mind we felt as a family as a result of the caring, friendly, professional, calm and dignified care that the excellent
staff gave our parents. The building, gardens, facilities, cleanliness are exceptional. The decor stunning. The food is first class and tailored to their needs. The activities and events are fun and appropriate we will miss the Christmas party. Genuine outstanding care.
