I recently spent 6 weeks 'Respite' at Wellburn House following a hip replacement operation. I found care was excellent, the staff were caring and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. The meals were excellent, staff encouraged residents to eat, and the meals were also varied and well balanced nutritionally. Activities were carefully planned and enjoyed by residents. I personally enjoyed the accompanied local walks, which strengthened my weakened muscles. Wellburn House is set in beautiful, well-tended grounds. My room was lovely and light and warm.

Respite experience has been great. The staff have made mum feel welcomed and safe and happy she has been encouraged to get involved in activities that she enjoys. Mum loved fish and chips in Whitley Bay and especially loved the arcades.

Wellburn House has been a very positive move for our Mum. She had previously been in a home where sadly the standards and care were poor, so we were very anxious about any new placement. However, we are very relieved that after a couple of weeks of her arrival at Wellburn, things seemed to fall into place for her. Certainly, now, after almost 6 months, she is mentally and physically much more stable and most importantly, happier. The staff are kind and considerate and the the manager is proactive, competent and compassionate. We would not hesitate in recommending this home.

The staff at Wellburn are patient and caring. My father feels valued and well cared for, and very much enjoys the activities. He always looks clean and smart, which is important to him and to my mum. His room is lovely, and always clean and tidy - and the meals smell lovely! We are so pleased that the staff at Wellburn are looking after my father so well. He is content, and knowing he is so well cared for, and being able to visit frequently (and being so warmly welcomed by the staff, and him when she does) has resulted in a significant improvement to my mum's health.

Wellburn House provides exceptional care for my gran. She was reluctant to go into a home initially but is thriving and talks highly of Wellburn. Her highlights are the food and kind staff! Staff members are enthusiastic, caring and know her likes and dislikes. Being able to view photos of her taking part in many activities via the social media page is reassuring and great to see.

This was my first experience of staying in a care home. I stayed for 8 days 'respite care'. My room and ensuite were exceptionally clean and pleasant. The cook produced excellent quality meals and a good variety of options. All the staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly. They smiled a lot and seemed happy. They were extremely patient. I enjoyed the outings and activities offered. I will be happy to return for respite or a resident.

Mam struggled at first to settle in but now she is loving life at Wellburn. The staff go above and beyond, the duty of care is second to none and there are constant activities and days out to keep everyone entertained. The food must be great because she has put on so much weight and looks really healthy.

I had the responsibility of finding a care home for my dear friend as she could no longer live on her own. After viewing many homes I made the decision that Wellburn House was the right place for her. I have never regretted that decision as I feel she is well cared for and happier than I ever expected her to be. She is safe and well looked after which means everything to me. Wellburn is well-managed and has some wonderful staff. I would highly recommend it to anyone who has a difficult decision to make in choosing a home for their loved one.
A very pleasant home and atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble. All staff were so kind and thoughtful and very professional. My husband was in the home for two and a half years and was very happy there. His end-of-life care was excellent. Staff did all they could to make him comfortable and were very considerate to family members giving us support as well.
Mam moved here in January and settled well. Initially joined in and loved all the activities: as her Alzheimer's progresses she spends more time in her room but still has lovely experiences. Occasional bumps in the road, as you would expect, but overall a positive experience for her and the family. The lovely staff all make her feel valued and loved.
Thank you for making my Mum so happy and content!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your lovely feedback about your mother's respite care experience at Wellburn House. Once again, thank you for your kind words - we will make sure to pass these on to the rest of the team at Wellburn House.
