Reviews

9 Grimston Court has a Review Score of 9 (9.029)

The Review Score of 9 (maximum of 10) for Grimston Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Grimston Court in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.284 for Grimston Court is calculated as follows: ( (51 Excellents x 5) + (32 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.284

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.745 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grimston Court is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 9.4 positive Reviews (47 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 7 Reviews ÷ 9.4 Target = 0.745

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Due to circumstances, my wife stayed here on 15th - 30th September 2016, settled well so we did a rollover and is still there.

Absolutely very happy with the whole being.

My mother has lived at Grimston Court for six months and is settled, happy and joining in the regular activities.

I visit frequently and find the staff welcoming and friendly. They are cheerful and genuinely interested in those they care for. When I ask about my mother they are knowledgeable about how she is and about her needs. I have always found them responsive to any concerns and requests. They treat residents with kindness and dignity.

The management staff are both involved and visible, readily available and willing to spend time either in person or on the phone. They keep me informed about any changes in my mother's well-being.

The home is clean, comfortable and attractive, set in lovely gardens for the residents. There is a relaxed but purposeful atmosphere in the home.

My mother has been resident in Grimston Court for over a year. I visit most days at different times of the day and have always found the staff to be kind and caring towards all the residents. I am kept fully informed as to my mother's health and well-being and all members of staff are always willing to talk and respond to any queries or concerns relating to my mother. They can always tell me where she is and what she has been doing etc. I have always observed that she is treated with a dignity and genuine kindness. The management team are always available.

My mum's stay was a farce from beginning to end. Firstly I had to phone twice and there were no records of her bookings. We had to take our own aids including bedside frames. There was an outbreak of D and V to which mum was confined to her room and we were only given a minimal reduction. Food was appalling.

Michael Jimmison, Deputy Operations Manager at Grimston Court responded to this review on 20 Jun 2017:

Dear Carole

Firstly I would like to take the time to thank you for your feedback regarding your mum’s stay at Grimston Court. I am very upset and disappointed that your mum has experienced some issues during her stay and would like on behalf of Wellburn Care to apologise for this.
Unfortunately, where equipment is needed by individuals we have to ensure that it is the correct equipment and fit for purpose. To ensure this we generally ask that this equipment is either provided from home or by an occupational therapist for the safety and comfort of the individual.
We have recently changed the way we provide our meals at Grimston Court and will pass your comments on to the kitchen team so that improvements can be made where required.
Should you wish to discuss any of these issues further I would be happy for you to contact me directly via our head office.
