  • Grimston Court very much welcomes socialisation for residents, especially visits and trips out with their friends and relatives to support their overall wellbeing. Therefore, the home operates on an open-door policy meaning visitors can come along to the home and are welcomed in at any time of the day. Ideally, visits should be pre-booked to allow the care team to inform the resident and prepare for their visit. There are no current limits to the number of guests who can come and visit a resident, however risk assessments are in place for safety and infection control measures, if the home overall exceeds a certain capacity of guests. Please note in the case of an emergency or if a resident declines a visit, the home may ask you to reschedule.

Our mother has been a resident for a number of years now and we have had no concerns regarding the care she receives at Grimston Court. It is certainly the right place for her, as she has always been content and spoke highly of those who care for her. Now with a number of health issues on top of advanced
dementia, she is getting the right level of care for her needs. Putting a family member into someone else's trust is never easy and is an emotional roller coaster. There is little doubt that Mum is getting the right care for her, and we are kept well informed about any changes in her condition.
Although we haven't eaten there, the food we have seen served for the residents looks nutritious and where appropriate clients are helped to eat. The staff we have met are all warm and friendly to us and there are regular visits to help stimulate the residents coupled with hands-on crafts and sensory experiences. A good 9 /10 from us.

My Mum was taken into A&E after weeks of not eating or drinking or taking medication. At 98 years of age, it was frightening. After one week at Grimston Court, she was eating, drinking and accepting all her medications. She is a different person now. The home was friendly, caring and I would highly
recommend them.

It is difficult enough when you finally reach the conclusion that you need to move your loved one into care, let alone find a quality home with service to match.
Grimston Court stands out. Not only does it look different, it has a nice feel to it when you walk in, not at all clinical. Everyone is welcoming,
always very helpful and professional in their approach. Here you are a name, not a number and that makes all the difference.

My mother in law who suffers from dementia has been at Grimston Court for two years. She initially went there for respite care but settled in immediately and we realised it was the perfect place for her. The staff consider her as one of the family and we can't fault the support they have provided to
us all.

My brother has settled quite well considering his delirium, his concerns are his bedroom being on the third floor. He has lived in a bungalow for the past 38 years so he wanders into other peoples rooms to their annoyance. Ground floor bedroom requested. He is kept very clean, tidy and well fed, very
happy with the staff who respond to him with affection despite his antics. Unfortunately, he has offended some lady or ladies with his ways which becomes a problem at mealtimes knowing where to sit.

This home is excellent. The staff are wonderful and cannot do enough for my Father in Law. He is very very happy with his room and the standards of all the staff. He has been a resident since the beginning of the year and he has not complained to us about anything he seems really content. We visit at
least twice a week and at different times of the day. We always receive a very warm welcome from the staff. They always arrange for us to have tea with Dad in his room or in the gardens. We are even allowed to take our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with us which all the residents seem to like. Dad loves to see the dog. We cannot praise the manager and the staff enough they are fantastic with Dad and make him really comfortable. All the members of our family are extremely happy with this care home. We wish to thank everyone for all they do for Dad and us.

My husband is a very solitary person so unfortunately, he does not join in any of the excellent activities on offer. He does like his room and seems happy enough there. The staff are very friendly to me as a visitor and make me feel at home. He is capable of dressing himself but sometimes confuses garments
- i.e. shirt and pyjama jacket or wears a shirt with a dirty collar. I would appreciate a member of staff pointing out his mistakes. He also needs to keep up his liquid intake, so more encouragement would be appreciated.

I simply do not know where to start. Having already been through the initial complaints procedure I had hoped some honest acknowledgement of failures would be forthcoming. Honesty would have formed a link of trust between the home and its clients but instead, I have witnessed dishonesty. Responses to
my letter of complaint have been filled in with fictitious details. There is too little space here to go through the catalogue of failings in this home so a few bullet pointers. No pillow case in 5 weeks (I have GPS, dates, images), dangerous carpet blamed on a previous client in a wheelchair (this lady had no wheelchair from what we saw and your carers contradict the timescales Wellburn Care has responded with) Dirty dining room floors, always! (residents blamed for messing and assured that they are cleaned right after eating) Lies! The whole place is "drab" with residents sitting around in the downstairs seemingly without anything to do.
For the sake of new residents, I must review.

My aunt stayed for 10 days. Several calls were made to speak to the manager by family members who were never available. No return calls were made even though home staff promised to pass on our request to speak to the manager. The home was asked to inform my sister in law of any falls suffered by my
aunt. There were two but no information was passed on including the need to be seen by the District Nurse to have a wound dressed on her hand. Antibiotics were also slow to be arranged; having been informed on the Sunday that they were being organised, they did not arrive until the following Friday. Senior staff were flippant in their remarks saying 'we will be glad to see the back of her' followed by 'only joking'. The home staff were generally kind and attentive.

Mum went to stay in Grimston Court from May 17 - Feb 18. I found the level of care here was good. The staff were always very nice and mostly helpful.
The building itself was nice although not modern, but had character. There was always staff around to help you.
The food was ok and nicely presented
and residents met in the dining room.
There are residents there with mixed needs and was hard at times to mix.
I would have liked to have seen more activities/entertainment, however.
The building has beeping call alarms that constantly go off which can be annoying if your room has one outside your door as mums did. I think this needs to be looked at as mum found it hard to sleep and was distracted by the beeping constantly.
The home has a high level of security for residents that can be restricting depending on your needs so more needs to happen within the home I think.
Overall I would recommend Grimston Court for the staff alone.

My mother has lived at Grimston Court for six months and is settled, happy and joining in the regular activities.


I visit frequently and find the staff welcoming and friendly. They are cheerful and genuinely interested in those they care for. When I ask about my mother they are knowledgeable about

how she is and about her needs. I have always found them responsive to any concerns and requests. They treat residents with kindness and dignity.


The management staff are both involved and visible, readily available and willing to spend time either in person or on the phone. They keep me informed about any changes in my mother's well-being.


The home is clean, comfortable and attractive, set in lovely gardens for the residents. There is a relaxed but purposeful atmosphere in the home.

My mother has been resident in Grimston Court for over a year. I visit most days at different times of the day and have always found the staff to be kind and caring towards all the residents. I am kept fully informed as to my mother's health and well-being and all members of staff are always willing
to talk and respond to any queries or concerns relating to my mother. They can always tell me where she is and what she has been doing etc. I have always observed that she is treated with a dignity and genuine kindness. The management team are always available.

My mum's stay was a farce from beginning to end. Firstly I had to phone twice and there were no records of her bookings. We had to take our own aids including bedside frames. There was an outbreak of D and V to which mum was confined to her room and we were only given a minimal reduction. Food was appalling.

Unfortunately, where equipment is needed by individuals we have to ensure that it is the correct equipment and fit for purpose. To ensure this we generally ask that this equipment is either provided from home or by an occupational therapist for the safety and comfort of the individual.
We have recently changed the way we provide our meals at Grimston Court and will pass your comments on to the kitchen team so that improvements can be made where required.
