Reviews

8.8 Ryton Towers has a Review Score of 8.8 (8.765)

The Review Score of 8.8 (maximum of 10) for Ryton Towers is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Ryton Towers in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.55 for Ryton Towers is calculated as follows: ( (37 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.55

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.215 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ryton Towers is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75

    2. Target of 8.6 positive Reviews (43 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 8.6 Target = 0.465

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mother has lived in Ryton Towers for quite a few years. Standards are very good, staff are very caring and helpful. The food is very good for my mother as she has to have a soft diet, but when talking to the other residents, they don't like the new food.

I find that the home could do with decorating and brightening up but overall, I am happy with the care my mother gets from the caring staff.

Sophie Maccormack, Marketing Assistant at Ryton Towers responded to this review on 27 Nov 2017:

Hi Susan, thank you so much for your review. All of our menus are regularly reviewed with resident participation. Our catering partnership means that they are able to constantly review the nutritional content for all of our menus. We appreciate all of your feedback.

Ryton Towers is a well-managed, immaculate and enormously friendly care home. In the time my mother has been there I cannot fault the approach of the staff, they are thoroughly professional, helpful and extremely affable. This is the second care home in which my mother has been a resident and the first was excellent but it difficult to articulate just how outstanding Ryton Towers is and still do the other justice. The home is extremely clean and the level of care my mother receives is truly outstanding in every respect. At all times the staff are always willing to help and when I have had questions about her care, the manager(s) and staff have gone the extra mile to ensure that they explained everything in detail. It is not difficult to see that care homes of Ryton Towers' standard are a rarely seen organisation, and much sought after.

The care, accommodation, general environment and fellowship my aunt has enjoyed since moving into Ryton Towers surpasses all of our expectations. It is particularly pleasing that she seems to have a greater deal of independence whilst having the security and social interaction that Ryton Towers brings.

The management, staff and fellow residents have all made a great contribution to the way my aunt has settled in her 'new home from home'.
