My mother spent just over four years in Wellburn House, and I have to say it became a proper long-term home for her. Having never wanted to be reliant on others for her care, dementia sadly took away any other option. Throughout her time at Wellburn we always felt welcome to be a part of her ongoing care and wellbeing. My mother never displayed discomfort in her surroundings, or a need to be somewhere else. From the very first days she looked calm and contented with her room and the staff looking after her. We have a great deal to thank the staff for in making my mothers time at Wellburn as comfortable and enjoyable as possible, we will always view the care home and staff as an important part of the last years of my mothers life. Thank you for the work that you do in making residents feel wanted, safe and valued in their later years.

All the staff at Heatherdale are amazing. The care, consideration, love, and compassion they have shown to my mam and all our family has been incredible. I cannot fault the support we have all received throughout the two years Mam has been with them.

In addition, during Mam's final days, hours, and minutes, the kindness, dignity, and unwavering support shown to her and to our family meant more than words can express. They made an incredibly difficult time a little easier, ensuring Mam was comfortable, cared for, and surrounded by compassion until the very end. We will always be grateful for everything they did for her and for us.

Heatherdale was the only care home my mam was happy to go to for respite. The staff were all lovely and helpful, and genuinely cared for my mam. The manager was so helpful and supportive in my mam's last few weeks, going above + beyond to help us.

I am very happy with the care my Mum has received over the last 2 years.. The staff and Management are very supportive and kind. My Mum has settled so well and enjoys going out along the prom. Very happy we chose Garden House.

Overall Experience

I recently spent 6 weeks 'Respite' at Wellburn House following a hip replacement operation. I found care was excellent, the staff were caring and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. The meals were excellent, staff encouraged residents to eat, and the meals were also varied and well balanced nutritionally. Activities were carefully planned and enjoyed by residents. I personally enjoyed the accompanied local walks, which strengthened my weakened muscles. Wellburn House is set in beautiful, well-tended grounds. My room was lovely and light and warm.

The staff are so caring with my husband who has Alzheimer's disease. He attends every Thursday and is really well supported and looked after at Heatherdale. All the staff are friendly and welcoming to myself and my husband. I really recommend the service they offer.

My wife has been resident.at Heatherdale since December 2024.
I cannot express how absolutely impressed I am by her standard of care, the extreme kindness of all.the staff, the cleanliness, activities for residents and absolute minute attention to detail in monitoring their health , weight and dietary requirements. Regular nourishing meals are provided in very pleasant surroundings and even the garden is always a source of interest. Themed events to entertain the residents fully involve everyone in fancy dress etc

I feel very happy knowing my wife is in such a warm ,friendly and safe environment. I cannot praise Allison and all her staff highly enough for.the excellent environment they have created. Highly recommend Heatherdale to anyone seeking a top quality residential Care Home for their loved one

Words cannot describe the whole hearted care, love, respect, and compassion the whole team at Heatherdale gave to my mam. In her last few days, they also gave us their support, and absolutely nothing was a bother. They kept us fully informed and helped us through the process of her passing with kindness and love. The whole team at Heatherdale are 100% the best.

My husband felt safe and well cared for whilst in Garden House. He found the staff sympathetic kind and caring and importantly friendly. I agree entirely with this and found everyone supportive of me. Senior staff were very approachable and helpful. They were clearly aware of what was going on and involved. Any issue that arose was dealt with.

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff and the care that is given at Heatherdale. It is welcoming and inclusive, a real home from home. Nothing is too much trouble. My step father has challenges and this home is meeting them with care and respect, not only for him but also the wider family.

On arrival at care home we are always greeted by friendly staff. Everyone says hello or goodbye. If there are any issues with family member we are told about it on arrival, or get a phone call its its a day we don't visit.

I visited my close friend yesterday at Garden House 10/2/26
My friend is 'end of life' so I wanted to go on and sit with her a while.
The room was so calm and lovely. It was extremely clean and cosy.
There was calming music playing and the bed looked comfortable.
My friend looked and comfortable,clean and calm.
I let the manager Freda know how lovely it felt and it's such a comfort to a family or friend to experience this level of care.

I want to add all the staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Respite experience has been great. The staff have made mum feel welcomed and safe and happy she has been encouraged to get involved in activities that she enjoys. Mum loved fish and chips in Whitley Bay and especially loved the arcades.

I am extremely pleased with the standard of care and facilitates at Wellburn House. The staff are very caring and have areal understanding of the resident's needs.The staff deal with difficult situations in a calm and professional way, and always protect the dignity of the residents. The home is clean and well maintained, the facilities are very good and the home has a happy atmosphere.
