The Poplars is a purpose-built care facility that offers long-term and short term Nursing, Residential and Dementia care, via a team of dedicated nursing, care and ancillary staff.

Each resident, and their family, are encouraged to be involved in the development of their own person-centered care plan, which is designed to take care of their medical needs as well as their emotional and mental well-being.

Respite care, Convalescent care and Palliative care are also provided. The home has been registered as a Silver Standard Care Home with Stockton Borough Council and is CQC rated 'Good' in all areas (May 2023). The Poplars remains Covid free and continues to serve the local community, and contributes to the area's care provision in any way it is able.

It was short notice when I approached Poplars about taking my husband in for 8 days. The manager was lovely, reassuring and told me everything I needed to do. I explained about his medication was on a pump and she assured me there would be no issues with the nurses and there wasn't. His carers were
lovely from the minute we arrived. His room was clean and had everything needed. Lovely and caring. During his stay, if I called to find out how he was, they knew and were very reassuring. I felt as if he was in good hands and have no worries about leaving him there again. Thank you.

Mum was only in The Poplars for one month, following five and a half weeks in hospital, but I spent many hours visiting and was very impressed with the care and respect shown - not just to the residents but by all of the staff to visiting family and each other. Our Mum was treated with love, care, respect
and dignity. I cannot thank the staff enough and would highly recommend this lovely home.

My husband entered the Poplars care home in January, living with the later stages of dementia and displaying many challenging behaviours. The staff, from the outset, showed care and compassion. Nothing was too much trouble. I was sent photographs of him smiling and appearing much more settled, which
helped to ease my own feelings of guilt. The staff dealt with his verbal aggression and incontinence with care and understanding. The nursing staff, senior carers, carers, domestic and office staff were excellent. They enabled him to sing and smile again - wonderful!

My mother was admitted to Poplars in September 2021. She received a very warm welcome and although in for a very short time, she feels very much at home. The whole team/staff are excellent. Nothing is a bother to them. Mum comments on the food being excellent and plentiful. She likes the constant visits
and chats to her room by all the staff. Overall, my family and I feel very assured with my mum being in Poplars. The whole team/staff, especially reception, are very professional and great. Thank you.

My dad has been a resident here since March 2020. Due to lockdown and Covid-19 restrictions, this is my first indoor visit. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I couldn't really see much of the home as we went straight to my dad's bedroom. It seemed very clean from what I saw, if a little tired-looking.
Sometimes my dad has mentioned that the food is a little cold - but is soon warmed up.

The staff and the manager have done an amazing job to keep the spirits of the residents high during the pandemic. I saw that they had invested in activities for the residents.
It was also a very clean environment with friendly staff.

My wife has been a resident for 20 years and in that time has had only one complaint. This was resolved in quick time. Care has been excellent. Her bed is always clean and fresh and her room is clean. It has been noticed by visitors and remarked upon by my wife's visitors, the lack of bad smells (urine)
sometimes found in other homes they have visited. I, myself, would have no hesitation about living at The Poplars Care Home if it ever came to it. I cannot comment upon food and drink.

I find staff to be professional and courteous at all times. They always try to help with any queries or passing messages onto relatives. My dad seems to have built a good relationship with the staff, and they're always willing to his daily needs. The home handled lockdown well, and put measures in place
to make sure both residents and staff remained safe.

My review relates to my mother going into The Poplars Care Home in March 2014. She went to The Poplars as she needed nursing care. The Poplars was so superior from the residential home she had been in. The Poplars carers are excellent, caring and professional towards all residents. The activity programme
is outstanding and on all special occasions eg VE Day, Easter, the home is decorated and often outside entertainers attending. The home is always clean and tidy due to the outstanding cleaning team. Maintenance and decorating are ongoing, always carried out with little or no disruption.

I'd looked at care homes prior to my husband becoming a resident here and The Poplars was not my first choice. I'd been impressed by a very modern one which was tastefully furnished. When it became apparent that my husband needed to be accommodated in a care facility at short notice, that home was not
available so we came to The Poplars, our second choice. This was in January and because of the difficult times experienced by us all since I've not seen him face to face since March.
I was, at the times I was able to visit, impressed by the things which matter most in caring for the residents. Here they've become part of a family, are recognised for their individualities and are treated with respect. The entertainment organiser is worth her weight in gold. The cleaning staff have their work cut out at times but keep the home spotless. I've been in touch with management throughout the COVID 19 crisis and they've always been helpful and informative, above all they've done their utmost to protect our loved ones - and succeeded. My second choice actually turned out to be the best.
