Having to stand outside in the wind and rain for ten/fifteen minutes.
The manager's attitude talking to me like a five-year-old child.

The rest of the staff are perfectly lovely people.

I'm so sorry you feel that you have had a negative experience at the Poplars. As you can see from all of our other feedback, the Poplars consistently has an excellent reputation. I would be more than happy to try and resolve any issue if I had more information, such as date and time of your visit...

It was short notice when I approached Poplars about taking my husband in for 8 days. The manager was lovely, reassuring and told me everything I needed to do. I explained about his medication was on a pump and she assured me there would be no issues with the nurses and there wasn't. His carers were lovely from the minute we arrived. His room was clean and had everything needed. Lovely and caring. During his stay, if I called to find out how he was, they knew and were very reassuring. I felt as if he was in good hands and have no worries about leaving him there again. Thank you.

I go to see my mam every day and the staff, from admin to carers, go above and beyond every time I am in The Poplars. It's very friendly and a pleasure to walk in and see my mam.

Mum was only in The Poplars for one month, following five and a half weeks in hospital, but I spent many hours visiting and was very impressed with the care and respect shown - not just to the residents but by all of the staff to visiting family and each other. Our Mum was treated with love, care, respect and dignity. I cannot thank the staff enough and would highly recommend this lovely home.

My husband entered the Poplars care home in January, living with the later stages of dementia and displaying many challenging behaviours. The staff, from the outset, showed care and compassion. Nothing was too much trouble. I was sent photographs of him smiling and appearing much more settled, which helped to ease my own feelings of guilt. The staff dealt with his verbal aggression and incontinence with care and understanding. The nursing staff, senior carers, carers, domestic and office staff were excellent. They enabled him to sing and smile again - wonderful!

My mother was admitted to Poplars in September 2021. She received a very warm welcome and although in for a very short time, she feels very much at home. The whole team/staff are excellent. Nothing is a bother to them. Mum comments on the food being excellent and plentiful. She likes the constant visits and chats to her room by all the staff. Overall, my family and I feel very assured with my mum being in Poplars. The whole team/staff, especially reception, are very professional and great. Thank you.

My dad has been a resident here since March 2020. Due to lockdown and Covid-19 restrictions, this is my first indoor visit. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I couldn't really see much of the home as we went straight to my dad's bedroom. It seemed very clean from what I saw, if a little tired-looking. Sometimes my dad has mentioned that the food is a little cold - but is soon warmed up.

The staff and the manager have done an amazing job to keep the spirits of the residents high during the pandemic. I saw that they had invested in activities for the residents.

It was also a very clean environment with friendly staff.

All staff have been great with my mum and give her the care that she needs, especially during this pandemic. I thank them all. I cannot wait until we can commence visiting properly, so I can meet all of the staff and get to know them.

During the Covid pandemic The Poplars home has been excellent. I cannot stress how happy our family are with the help and reassurance received in the most awful of times for home residents.

My wife has been a resident for 20 years and in that time has had only one complaint. This was resolved in quick time. Care has been excellent. Her bed is always clean and fresh and her room is clean. It has been noticed by visitors and remarked upon by my wife's visitors, the lack of bad smells (urine) sometimes found in other homes they have visited. I, myself, would have no hesitation about living at The Poplars Care Home if it ever came to it. I cannot comment upon food and drink.

I find staff to be professional and courteous at all times. They always try to help with any queries or passing messages onto relatives. My dad seems to have built a good relationship with the staff, and they're always willing to his daily needs. The home handled lockdown well, and put measures in place to make sure both residents and staff remained safe.

My review relates to my mother going into The Poplars Care Home in March 2014. She went to The Poplars as she needed nursing care. The Poplars was so superior from the residential home she had been in. The Poplars carers are excellent, caring and professional towards all residents. The activity programme is outstanding and on all special occasions eg VE Day, Easter, the home is decorated and often outside entertainers attending. The home is always clean and tidy due to the outstanding cleaning team. Maintenance and decorating are ongoing, always carried out with little or no disruption.
