My brother was moved into Bannatyne suffering with vascular dementia & Alzheimers. The manager was, from the 1st day of meeting home to carry our an assessment, a completely knowledgable, yet kind and understanding professional. She clearly influences her staff & colleagues with the same attitude and
demeanour. My brother is settled, happy & so well cared for. I will be forever grateful to the whole team for the way they look after my beloved brother.

My husband was admitted into the care home on the 16th May, the lovely manager helped me a great deal to have him discharged from hospital with good advice. He had a bad experience in hospital and I was so relieved for him to be accepted into this lovely home for his last few days. He was kept comfortable
in a nice clean, comfortable room. He sadly passed, but knowing he was well cared for in a relaxed environment helped me a great deal.

My 90yr old father had a fall at home and was badly shaken. Respite care was suggested and as he lived in Peterlee and the home was next to his doctors we contacted Bannatyne Lodge. Best call we ever made. From the moment we initially rang to enquire, to the reception of my father, to the time we left
we were treated with complete professionalism that could not be faulted. My father ended up staying just over three weeks and he really enjoyed his time there. The food was top quality and plentiful. The staff from the manager down to the cleaners were a great friendly bunch of people. Many had been there 10+ years and a couple over 20+ years, which spoke volumes about the home as an employer. The activities were gentle but fun with encouragement to join in, my father enjoyed the bingo, dominos and even the wine tasting! Over the three weeks he regained his strength, at all times he was encouraged by the staff. He is now home but knows where to go if he wants a weeks R&R. 5* treatment.

Experience first class from the start. Staff absolutely fantastic and so reassuring in helping deal with a very emotional and stressful transition into care. First morning made a lot easier by joining in with weekly coffee morning ( delicious home baking), and meeting staff and residents in informal
social atmosphere. All staff are professional , courteous and helpful and treat residents with dignity and respect. They work hard to create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere with lots of smiles and good humour. My mam is living a full and active life- both within the home where a great range of activities and interests are promoted- and outside in the community, going to church and out for coffee with other residents. She has made friends and staff reorganised the dining room so that they could sit together for meals which was very special .Visitors always welcome and staff will transfer calls to a mobile so I can speak to Mam at any time .Great management and staff team. Highly recommend.

Staff are absolutely amazing, nothing is too much. They will always try and help in whatever way they can. They will always try and make everyone happy whether your a service user, or a relative. From my arrival, I was treated with great care and respect. None of my requests were turned down and the staff went out of their way to be helpful. The cheerful atmosphere added to my recovery and I shall certainly recommend Bannatyne Lodge Care Home to others.

Lovely home and lovely staff. Always cheerful when around. Nice space for the residents to go outside for fresh air when they want to. They have entertainment on for residents to keep them occupied throughout the day. Lovely place to be.

Staff are always on hand to help and are kind, cheerful and smiley. They do their best to make sure that all needs of the residents are tended to.
The facilities are spot on and are adapted for each resident based on their needs.
The only thing that my nanna has issues with is the food as she is
very fussy. She cannot eat a lot and much prefers smaller portions. However, this being said, if she does not fancy anything on the menu, they will endeavour to make her a sandwich or some soup. This is primarily her biggest problem/issue but staff do try their best to cater for her. It isn't their fault that she is so picky!

My father was admitted to Bannatyne Lodge for palliative care. My mother wanted to be with him so we arranged for a two-week respite care with the view that my mother could decide whether she wanted to stay permanently. Within three days my mother made it clear she wanted to stay. She liked her room,
the staff was so caring, and she liked the food and the fact that the staff introduced her to other ladies in the dining room. Her decision says it all - Bannatyne Lodge has given me peace of mind that my mother is happy and my Father is receiving excellent end-of-life care.

The staff at Bannatyne have gone above and beyond for my mother, who sadly suffers from Huntington's disease, her health has rapidly declined over the years, and she is unable to verbalise her needs. A staff member made it her personal mission to get my mother to a family wedding earlier in the year,
which was beyond all expectations, they are always trying to support her to the best of their ability, and extra special thanks to the carer, she is a fantastic nurse and carer, who has ensured my mother keeps her dignity and is fully involved and included, as much as she can be. Another staff member for her huge array of activities, even catering for residents' personal preferences, and another team member for his humour and making us smile, just to name a few of the great team, lots of familiar faces which shows what a committed and caring group of people they are, who value the work they do, thank you so much for all you do, keep up the hard work.

Found Bannatyne Lodge Care Home to be lovely and a great choice. Care is excellent, treated with dignity and respect at all times by staff. Nothing is too much trouble. My room is decorated to a great standard, cleaned every day to a good standard, en-suite as well. Food is good and snacks are available
too, even a trolley selling goodies and treats. There are activities, a hairdresser and others onsite if needed. Would recommend this home highly.

Well if I'm honest, I did not want to end up in a home and since I came, which isn't long, I've changed my opinion about being here. The staff try to keep us all happy which is impossible because I'm awkward and hard to please.

I find this care home to be friendly and relaxing and staff friendly and helpful, this has put my mother's mind to rest, she now gets the help she needs to do everyday tasks that she has not been able to undertake whilst living alone in her bungalow.

First experience of care homes, and I can honestly say that all my fears were unnecessary as every member of staff has been great. Social areas are comfortable, and surprisingly, my father has adapted very well. Food always looks nice and plentiful. Rooms are adequate enough for one person's needs and

Julie uses her experience to motivate the team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.
