Located in a residential area in Darlington, Eastbourne Care Home is a spacious home from home setting offering residential and nursing care.

There are 41 bedrooms in total, each offering en suite facilities, with residents encouraged to add a personal touch to help them settle in and feel at home. Across the home there are also spacious living areas, two dining areas where residents can enjoy varied, home cooked meals and snacks and a great outdoors area including a Memory Garden. There is also a café onsite and a hairdressing salon too, giving residents lots of opportunities to socialise and relax.

My dad was living in sheltered accommodation. He self neglected himself, refused to take medication and a lot of weight loss. When he came to Eastbourne he was eating and drinking very well and improved with his weight. He enjoyed doing activities. Staff have given him good care. My dad is a totally
different man now. I am very happy that my dad is in Eastbourne.

Under the old management, my mum was so happy, cared for and well. New management took over 2 years ago. I am utterly disturbed by their attitude and care. Instead of a regular bedtime, my mum, 91 with vascular dementia, is often left in a recliner chair with the controller kept out of reach, her feet
off the floor and the tv on throughout the night with 3 remote controls left on her table, and the help/assistance button kept on her bed which she is not in. It is imminent that she will very soon become immobile and incontinent and is increasingly vacant/withdrawn during daytime and unable to eat or communicate due to lack of routine or sleep.
They deny everything; my beautiful mum is quickly becoming a soulless shell.
I am trying my hardest to take my mum from here to a care home where the word care should mean everything.

My mother was made to feel a member of the Eastbourne family and loved the care she received from all of the staff. She loved her room and was proud of all her pictures on display and would relate tales about all of them. She loved the food she received and felt they were cooking for just her. She would
tell us about the residents and staff. She had a mind of her own and would say if something was wrong.

From the initial meeting to getting my mother settled in, she has been made to feel like part of the Eastbourne Care Home's family. Nothing is too much trouble, every team member is superb, the home is welcoming and comfortable and my mother is more than happy to stay at home.

From first entering Eastbourne Care Home my sister and I was made to feel very welcome and were shown around the area where my uncle would be residing. Any queries or "problems" that have arisen have been quickly resolved and my uncle has received constant good care.

Looking for the right care home for your loved one is extremely hard. The minute we walked into Eastbourne house we knew it was the one for Dad. It is always clean and smells fresh. Every member of staff is friendly and always happy to help. My Dad settled really well and is always happy and content,
which is great. I can't imagine anywhere better.

I visited the home and found staff to be extremely pleasant and helpful. The home was clean with no odours.
The activities lady was engaging with residents, the plan of activities displayed seemed to be a variety of things for residents to do.

My Father was resident here for the final months of his life and I could not fault the nursing staff for their professionalism and caring attitude towards him. They were never too busy to stop and discuss his daily condition and I was regularly informed of any developments. In addition, the home is
extremely well run by the care manager and it shows in the ability and attitude of all the staff.

My aunt was resident here for 3 years, the staff were wonderful, spending time with her. The family were always happy to visit the home and were welcomed by the staff.


At the end of my aunt's life, I was kept informed at all times.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, I have had to stay longer than originally planned at Eastbourne. Fortunately, I could not be in better hands. The care, assistance, help and attention I have received from all sections of the staff cannot be faulted. The management went out of their way to enable me
to extend my stay at the care home so that I could be at ease. The daily care I need from all the carers is first class who give detailed attention to any task they are required to do with diligence and great dignity. The catering service team is excellent, they provide a good range of choice of freshly prepared meals. There are high-quality maintenance, housekeeping and laundry services provided. There are plenty of well provided, organised and themed activity and social events for all to take part in.

My mam has come into Eastbourne for rehabilitation after a fall and then a hip replacement. From day 1 she has been given excellent care by all members of staff. Nothing is a trouble and all spare a little time for a chat and reassurance. The rooms are comfortable and cosy and mam is very settled, which
makes me feel happy knowing that she is being well looked after.

I think the care and treatment within this care home to be extremely of the highest standard. The staff of all departments, nurses - carers, kitchen, domestic, maintenance, physio, management etc go above and beyond to make people feel at ease and make their stay as comfortable as possible.
