Thank you for taking the time to provide a review of Northlands. I am glad that your mother is happy and relaxed with our regular staff. I can assure you that staffing levels are reviewed regularly with the manager to ensure that we maintain safe levels.
However, we are currently in the biggest crisis that I have ever seen in social care. Recruitment and retention of staff are extremely difficult leading to increased reliance on agency staff. Staff sickness levels this autumn and winter have also been at unprecedented levels with the combination of COVID, Flu and other winter viruses. To try and address these issues, we have increased pay rates by 11.7% for care staff, introduced incentives and bonuses as well as encouraged take-up of the COVID and flu boosters. I hope additional Government funding will be forthcoming in 2023 to help us find a permanent solution to the problems that are affecting the whole social care sector.

Thank you for your review; your feedback is welcome and appreciated. The 100th birthday was certainly a special occasion, and it was memorable to receive one of the last birthday cards sent from HM Queen Elizabeth II.
Thank you for your review and your kind words, which will be appreciated by everyone who works at Northlands.
Thank you for taking the time to provide your review. I am pleased that you are happy with the care your Dad receives and the improvements that we have made to the building. Your Dad is certainly enjoying running a critical eye over all our improvement works to make sure everything has been completed to a high standard.
Thank you for your review. I hope that the government also listens to your views about the need to fund social care properly.
Thank you for taking the time to provide this review. As you note, staff recruitment has been incredibly difficult over the last 12 months, but recent improvements mean that several lovely new colleagues have joined the team.
The middle floor can be a lonely place in the evenings
There can be a lack of consistency regarding communication and delivering information. The staff, however, do care very much and do their best especially when they appear to be a little short on the ground.
Thank you for your review.
Parkside Care acquired Northlands in March 2017 and as you note we have started a major refurbishment program. Our investment in the fabric of the building will make the home fit for purpose and improve facilities for both residents and staff.
We have also undertaken a staff survey and have made some improvements to staffing levels and conditions for staff. We will continue our development program with guidance from staff meetings and resident forums.
Our new nurse call system can monitor the response times of staff and the management will be reviewing this closely.
