The centre provides residential care for people who need support with everyday activities such as washing, dressing or eating, as well as keeping on top of taking regular medications. So happy to have my parents-in-law looked after so well. The staff in every department do their very best at all times and put themselves out on many occasions for the residents. My in-laws are happy and contented. We are now able to relax knowing they are in safe hands. Thank you to you all.

All staff go above and beyond to look after residents. Activity staff very often keep residents busy with bingo, games and organising singers. The staff are always available and make time for me if I have any issues with my father. If my father has any medical problems or falls they always ring me to
keep me updated.

I was lucky enough to be at Northlea Court with my mum on the day of the summer garden party which was arranged by the events coordinator. It was a wonderful warm and sunny day with the residents outside under the shade enjoying live music, refreshments and ice creams. The residents and staff sang along,
danced and joined in with the very happy atmosphere that had been created. Listening to my mum singing and seeing the joy in her face is such a special memory that will stay with me and she also loves to remember the day. The singer was amazing and included all the residents, as did the events coordinator and all the staff to ensure a lovely day was had by everyone, confirming to us that Northlea is a home from home.

My sister appears to be well looked after, clean and has put on weight, which means she must be eating quite well which she hadn't been while looking after herself. Obviously, due to the pandemic, certain aspects have gone by the board, ie: podiatry care or hairdresser, which I am told will shortly
be happening. The staff are always pleasant and helpful and if I request something for my sister, they always oblige. My sister is not a mixer, so I'm not sure what activities exist, but I am sure they are adequate.

During these most difficult of times, I have found comfort in that my mother is receiving very good support and care across a range of staff led by positive home management. It is clear that my mother is very well settled and her needs attended to in a professional manner, this confirmed during my phone
conversations. My previous visits before lockdown allowed me to see a very clean home with a welcoming team and a warm feeling with staff keen to engage and respond where required.

We are reassured to know that the care provided to my mother-in-law is top quality, especially during these difficult times where we cannot visit. Staff help with telephone/video calls. I live here in Perth, Australia and I had no way of contacting my dad who has been a resident for just under a year, just as the Covid-19 started to raise it's ugly head. We had no contact between us because of his hearing difficulties and no special phone. But now thanks to the effort of the activities
department, they arranged for me to contact Dad via FaceTime on a regular basis. We converse between us for setting up a time for us both and they do the rest. So for their excellent help, I not only speak to Dad once again, but we can also see each other! It's good to catch up with Dad and good to see the smile he sends across. This makes me happy as I see him happy once again. It all goes down to the good work and going the extra mile the activities department go to help out. Many special thanks has to go to the activities department.

Just wanted to do a review to say thanks to all the staff at Northlea Court for their efforts during this very difficult time. My wife has been in Northlea Court for nearly 9 years now (with vascular dementia) and although I've not been able to see her since last March, the staff have kept me informed
by telephone on how she is on a regular basis. All the staff have worked extremely hard to keep Covid at bay, as best they can from within the home, through their procedures and working practices and for that, I'm truly grateful. Thank you.

During this terrible time of Covid-19, the home is exercising excellent strict isolation rules to protect its staff and vulnerable residents. These times are difficult, not only for residents and their relatives but for all of the staff too, who are doing their best to keep the residents safe and happy.
I have nothing but praise for the care home and all its dedicated staff dealing with this awful pandemic situation.

My mam moved into Northlea Court in September 2019 when she was no longer able to look after herself and her home became difficult and she needed extra support whilst maintaining a degree of independence. The care both her and her family have received since then has been fantastic. However, in these
current testing times, it is so reassuring to know that she is being looked after by the most caring people possible. All of the staff at Northlea go out of their way to make sure the residents are happy and can keep in touch with family members easily by such methods as video call. I would personally like to thank all of the staff for their continued support.

My mum was admitted to Northlea Court for respite care but, when it was apparent that she could no longer manage on her own, she became a permanent resident. The staff at Northlea are second to none. I cannot praise them highly enough. They are so caring and loving towards both the residents and their
families. Sadly my mum passed away mid-February but in her last few days, staff sat with her, holding her hand and chatting to her and were so caring towards me and my sister when we were there. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Northlea Court to anyone.

On every visit, the staff are always very pleasant and helpful.
Whenever my mum is not at her best, the staff can always help the situation and make her cheerful again. Nothing is too much trouble. It's a happy place.

The home looks after my father who can be difficult due to his dementia and other conditions. The staff are always friendly and polite and my father often comments to me that he is well cared for.
His faculties, though fading, are still able to allow him to join in with some activities, notably singing
and the staff made a DVD of his appearance on TV in the 1980's which he enjoys seeing - this was a very thoughtful thing to do!

My husband has been resident in Northlea Court now for 1 year 9 months. He settled very well. He was in another home for 4 months which he did not settle. He is well cared for at Northlea.

North Lea has been like a breath of fresh air, I spent several years working into and supporting care homes and I can honestly say I have not always been impressed.
Since Dad moved in to the home in September 2017 we have had nothing but good to say about the home. Communication is great when anything
goes awry; if dad is unwell. Staff are always friendly and approachable, going the extra mile. They were so helpful when we needed to arrange an urgent transfer. We cannot say how grateful we are that Dad is being cared for here and doing so well. The staff from the efficient admin, all of the care and housekeeping staff, all the way to the Deputy and the Manager are all approachable and helpful on each occasion we have spoken to them. No criticism whatever.

Sandra Smith

Job Title: Home Manager at Northlea Court Care Home, Cramlington

Sandra qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1994 and dived straight into the care sector. She has gained a wealth of knowledge from her various roles, including Deputy Manager and Home Manager. Sandra left the business for a year in 2011 before returning as a Home Manager: she has been in her current post at Northlea Court for 10 years. When not at work, Sandra enjoys making and decorating cakes, and her favourite summer hobby is visiting her caravan in Northumberland every weekend.
