Because I live about 170 miles away and visit my aunt at Northlea only about once a month, I do not have a proper view of how a typical day or week is spent there. All the residents I have seen upstairs appear well cared for, appropriately dressed, clean and well fed. My aunt's room is always...
Because I live about 170 miles away and visit my aunt at Northlea only about once a month, I do not have a proper view of how a typical day or week is spent there. All the residents I have seen upstairs appear well cared for, appropriately dressed, clean and well fed. My aunt's room is always clean and tidy, bed made, although her pictures and framed photos have still not been mounted on the wall, and some of the clothes are not hers. There are activities noted on a board and I have seen photographs of my aunt taking part in some of these.
My aunt settled in well (she has been there 9 months and 2 years in Beacon). She is calmer now and her hair is nicely cut and washed, a reflection of her calmer attitude.

My mother has recently been transferred from another home due to closure. The move went very smoothly, and the staff have ensured her anxiety to be minimum. I've noticed how all of the residents from her previous home have settled well. The home has a very calm and homely feel, which helps to make residents families confident with their care.

Sandra qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1994 and dived straight into the care sector. She has gained a wealth of knowledge from her various roles, including Deputy Manager and Home Manager. Sandra left the business for a year in 2011 before returning as a Home Manager: she has been in her current post at Northlea Court for 10 years. When not at work, Sandra enjoys making and decorating cakes, and her favourite summer hobby is visiting her caravan in Northumberland every weekend. Words of encouragement from Sandra for someone looking for the right care home would be: “Make sure you get a good feeling from the home and the team.”
