South Quay is a nursing and residential care home situated in western Blyth. The purpose-built setting has 55 beds spread across two floors and provides high standards of care, delivered by highly qualified staff.

The first floor provides accommodation for nursing and dementia nursing residents and the second floor for residential and residential dementia residents. There is also a dedicated unit with nursing neurological beds.

The home is close to shops and is easily accessible with public transport.

All bedrooms at the home are single occupancy with some having ensuite facilities. The home features spacious living areas for residents to relax in but also to engage in the many planned activities.

Residents benefit from enclosed gardens with a greenhouse and summer house.

The care my mam got in the final weeks of her life was outstanding, to say the least. She was looked after and made very comfortable. Even though the staff were always very busy and under pressure, they still made sure my mam was looked after to a high standard. I don't think there could have been a
better care home for my mam to go in. I can't thank them enough for what they have done; the manager, the carers, nurses and cleaners, all of them were great.

This is the finest care home I have stayed, but visited many to see family and friends. The only one that is more like a hotel, smelling so clean and pleasant. I will certainly recommend it to people. I am in for two weeks recovering from an operation as my husband is disabled.

My father had been as South Quay since 2014 until his death a few months ago. I always had positive experiences with the home, but up until the 3-weeks preceding his death did not fully appreciate how much they evidently loved my dad as if he was a part of their own family.


He was sent from hospital

to the home and was an end of life pathway since he was no longer able to eat and drink. My family stayed with him the 2-3 weeks that he was there until his death, and 24/7-7-days a week, were truly moved by the love, care and tenderness all the staff (and particularly the carers) treated him with.


I honestly cannot praise them highly enough, and as I am writing this am welling up with tears recalling how beautifully they treated Dad in his last days on earth, and even though there is great sadness that he is no longer with us, there is an element of joy that he had such a tender loving set of people around him when he passed.


Two particular ladies and everyone else, thank you so, so much.

Staff caring and helpful. Service user no communication skills totally reliant on professional staff for all her care needs. Complex health and neurological problems, respite care nights weekly to enable my husband and I some rest and a work-life balance.

My daughter is badly disabled with MS and has been in South Quay Care Home for three years. In all that time, she has been cared for with love and respect. The nursing staff and care staff are second to nine. I can't praise them highly enough, especially how they have coped throughout the Covid pandemic.

It was good to be able to visit my daughter today. The coronavirus is making life difficult for everyone. The staff were very friendly and welcoming to me, were informative, and chatted when my daughter slept.

A wonderful care home and lovely caring staff, who treat my husband with care and dignity when we use it for respite. A care home is only as good as its staff and South Quays seems to keep its staff long term, which to me is a good sight of a happy working environment. Always grateful.

Mam has settled from day one, calls South Quay home which is fantastic for her and her family. When she goes out for a few hours she always asks to go home meaning South Quay, we could not be happier with her being here and must add all staff work to high standards.

My husband has been a resident since he has a severe stroke 6 years ago. He is paralysed on his right side and has lost the ability to appeal. Sadly, over the last year his mental capacity has deteriorated and he can be very difficult to deal with, the staff have a great understanding of these problems
and deal with them wonderfully well. When I visit, which is on a regular basis, the staff are very kind to me.
