Brocastle Manor is a not-for-profit care home providing high-quality dementia nursing and general nursing care. It's located on the outskirts of both the market towns of Bridgend and Cowbridge. The home is surrounded by rolling scenic countryside and is in close proximity to junction 35 of the M4 motorway.

Brocastle Manor opened in 2008 and provides 24-hour nursing and dementia care. The home benefits from both a dedicated activities area, garden room, a number of communal lounges and dining areas. It's complemented by a dedicated and experienced workforce to ensure that residents are cared for to maximise a person’s independence and understand their preferences.

There are 80 bedrooms all of which are en-suite. There are plenty of activities for people who access the services to participate in, plus monthly outings. This warm and welcoming home also prides itself on the quality of its care, promoting an ethos of dignity and respect for individuals. There is a selection of tasty and nutritious meals, created by the home's talented chefs. Any special dietary requirements of residents are catered for.

I would recommend Brocastle to anyone. They are like a second family to my mum and look after her like she is their relative. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The home is always clean and tidy. Mum's room and bedding are always clean, her clothes are clean and she is always comfortable. They
involve her in activities and do her hair and nails and she is always happy. The home is in a beautiful and quiet area, with beautiful gardens. I can't thank the home enough for all they do.

Mum was at Brocastle for the last 3 months of her life. We had cared for her with the support of initially daily carers, and then live in carers but sadly due to her increasing needs and lack of ability to source more care ( pandemic related), we very reluctantly had no choice but to opt for a nursing
home. We had very high expectations for her care and so did this most reluctantly. As soon as Mum went in we could see that it was the best option and all her needs were completely met. Due to covid, visiting changed in nature but the staff enabled us to have as much time with Mum as possible. I live many hours away and if I wasn’t able to physically visit face time calls were arranged as often as I needed.
Her room was a good size with a spacious ensuite overlooking lovely countryside, and always spotlessly clean. The staff were cheerful but gentle and kind. The little things, like finding her favourite youtube channel, made such a difference. Thank you all so very much.

Dad was a resident of Brocastle for just over a year before he passed away. During that time he was treated with incredible care and kindness. When a member of your family joins Brocastle, the home becomes your home and the staff become your family. We can't thank them enough for their support to us

Several years ago we selected Brocastle Manor for my father who was suffering advanced Alzheimers. His condition left him without any ability to communicate or any ability to care for himself, and so he needed advanced care that we simply could not provide at home. Initially, we were understandably
nervous about placing Dad in a home. However, those initial concerns could not have been more misguided. The people at Brocastle Manor have been the most wonderful, caring and loving family we could have wished for.
Dad passed away very recently, and we can confirm that everyone from the management team, to the nurses, to the carers, the cleaners and backstage support teams have all been unbelievably wonderful, thoughtful and caring throughout his time at the home. Some of the loveliest people you could ever wish to bring into your loved one's life. Dad's medical condition was torturous, but the care and joy provided by the team at Brocastle Manor was wonderful. Thank you so much.

My father was admitted to Brocastle Manor at the start of September. He passed away sadly afte only a few short weeks. The care staff and nursing staff were attentive and compassionate towards my father and the family. They made a very difficult situation much easier to bear.

Following a lengthy stay in hospital, my mother was accepted to Brocastle Manor Care Centre. My mum had multiple comorbidities and additionally insulin dependent. My mum settled into the home straight away, the healthcare staff were amazing, they treated mum as though she was one of their own family
members. They welcomed me when I want to support mum at mealtimes and always treated her with care and dignity. I cannot thank them enough especially the nurse and healthcare staff.

Sadly, my mum died on the 7th March 2018. She was at Brocastle Manor only for a few months but we couldn't have wished for a better nursing home. We know our mum died in the best place. The staff are truly amazing, caring people. Always there when needed. Conversations with the residents are not patronizing,
they speak to the dementia patients like non-dementia people would be spoken to. Mam's final hours had constant monitoring by the staff when us family were not there.
Thank you all so so much for the care and true love my love experienced while being at Brocastle Manor.

My mother was a resident for nine years and my father before her. One of their greatest strengths is the quality of their staff, who are wonderful - cheerful, caring and ensuring my mother was very well looked after. They obviously value their residents as individuals and build a good relationship with
them. This applies not only to the carers and nursing staff, but the support staff as well.


Visiting my mother I was always greeted with smiles and made welcome. The staff always made time to answer any questions and were very supportive to me as well as my mother. The number of staff dedicated to activities has increased during my mother's stay which allows for more one-to-one social interaction as well as group activities and entertainment. Also, the Home is creating some interesting themed areas for the benefit of residents and I understand more projects are planned. I would not hesitate to recommend Brocastle Manor to anyone requiring nursing or full-time care.

Linda

Linda Jenkins

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2008

Linda has been the home manager at Brocastle Manor since April 2022.


Her career in care started almost 40 years ago, working alongside Hafod for many years whilst she was employed by Cardiff Council. She then joined Hafod in 2008 as Residential Care Coordinator in Cardiff and has held various care roles in the organisation.


Personal experience caring for her own parents inspired her passion for ensuring the people in our care receive the highest standard of person-centred care, and that all residents are treated with dignity, respect and compassion.


In her free time, Linda loves to cook and spend time with her daughter, visiting food festivals, theatres and holidays abroad.

Amanda is the deputy manager and clinical lead nurse in the dementia care community at Brocastle Manor.


I am passionate about making a difference for people living with dementia, however small the outcome achieved. In my role, I am lucky to have the opportunity to build relationships with the families of those we care for, learning about the lives they've lived and the adventures they had, this helps us all to enhance their lives.
