The staff at Brocastle are absolutely outstanding. Mum was always treated with the upmost love, care and dignity up to her final days. The love they extended to us as a family was phenomenal. Always going above and beyond to ensure not only our Mum was well looked after but myself and my sisters too.
I was blown away with the love and support the staff showed in what was an incredibly difficult time for us. Mum felt at home at Brocastle and we felt hugely reassured that the decision to select Brocastle care home was right for mum. I cannot thank the staff enough for everything they did for mum and the support they showed us. I couldn't recommend Brocastle more highly. Absolutely outstanding staff and Home.

I cannot thank the wonderful staff at Brocastle Manor enough for the caring and compassionate way they cared for my seriously ill husband during the four years he was in their care. He was suffering with advanced mixed dementia with psychotic episodes, which very often required nursing care which was
complex, highly skilled and very often of an unpredictable nature. I noticed his carers were always kind patient and always willing to go the extra mile. The clinical leads Amanda Clara and Kirsty were always willing to answer any questions I had relating to his care plans which were always very thorough and up to date. Thank you wonderful people for being so humane and understanding during one of the most difficult periods of our families life.
Reply from Amanda Davis, Deputy Manager at Brocastle Manor Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to leave such a heartfelt review, It truly means a great deal to us. On Saturday 18th October my mother was able to celebrate with a large group of family and friends in a special room in Cwmbran House. It was a fantastic celebration. A beautiful cake was provided for this special 100th birthday. Staff were warm, welcoming and professional, before, during and after her
birthday. They were genuinely excited with us, such an occasion. Many guests mentioned the hospitality, space, and atmosphere of the home, thank you so much, a fantastic time was had by all.

All care & support staff have been excellent with phenomenal care & attention paid to the resident. They have all respected her outlook on life, religious wishes and calm demeanour. Management has been changeable over the years as has their attitude. They have with left after being confrontational and
not respectful. I depend solely on the dedicated staff to provide the best care. One carer has been wonderful as has many staff over the years including senior nurse.

My mother has since passed after being in this care home not only were 2 people dismissed back in 2024 for duty of care regarding my mum which the then manager was absolutely amazing and could not apologise enough. Again in May this year another night time carer was suspended from duties for being verbally
threatening behaviour towards my mum pointing at her and shouting with a horrid manner. Over a few days then mum had falls out of her room in the night or early hrs where she landed up in hospital. Mum deteriorated and within 5 weeks mum passed away. We recommend anyone to put cameras in room as if we never we would never have know . This care home has gone down hill since a new manager was appointed in February of this year. Daytime staff on 1st floor, though could not fault, they showed mum a lot of care.
Reply from Marc Pullen-James, Director of Care at Woodcroft Care HomeDear Michelle, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. The welfare and wellbeing of our residents is paramount, and we are committed to providing the best standard of care, which is why incidents such as this are taken so seriously. We're sorry this incident involving your Mum occurred and assure you that we took immediate action, as we do not tolerate any kind of wrongdoing in our care home, and we have a robust safeguarding process in place. If you would like to discuss this further with me, I would be happy to speak with you directly. Marc Pullen-James, Director of Care

Excellent care given by staff to my dad. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Food times do vary slightly, so often sat waiting for food. Food isn't cut up for my dad who can have large pieces of meat he can't cut/eat. Staff are friendly + helpful. Level of frustration when my dad doesn't have his socks
put on despite numerous request on balance though very good.

My mother has been at Ty-Penrhos since December 2021 and sadly, in February this year, she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. It was in my mum's best interest to keep her in the care home for a number of reasons but not least because she would have been incredibly distressed by the admission to a hospital.
My mother also has dementia but Ty Penrhos and some of the regular staff at Daffodil Rise Unit are still familiar to her. I cannot praise them enough for their dedication, compassion and the outstanding care they have given to my mother and for the communication and support I've also received. The Managers, carers and palliative nurses at Daffodil Rise are the 'unsung heroes' who often go above and beyond what is expected of them and I hope this is recognised and they know how much they are appreciated.
