Review of Cwmbran House Care Home from Barrie H (Brother of Resident) published on 27 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

From the moment I arrive at Cwmbran House, I am greeted by friendly smiling staff. I have always found Cwmbran House to be spotlessly clean (in particular the toilets smelled very fresh on my last visit) All carers and activity organisers have a caring and attentive approach to residents, often with a gentleness of humour. Cwmbran House site is a spacious safe space for residents and their rooms are of adequate size, comfortable + personalised. Small gardens allow residents to exercise, and to enjoy gardening / planting in raised beds. Some recently enjoyed sitting in shade under parasols in the fresh air. The level of care is maintained even in the challenging heat we've experienced recently. A very happy place, often with cheery music being played, encouraging singalongs with residents

Review of Ty Penrhos Care Home from Jayne L (Wife of Resident) published on 20 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Since my husband became a resident of Mountain View in March, myself & our son have been absolutely delighted with the care, dedication & lovely manner in which he is looked after. We've also been welcomed into the home where the fabulous staff actively engage with us too. My husband is encouraged daily to spend time in the lounge area where he can be amongst staff/other visitors. The Well-being team do an excellent job with varied activities/outings. We all attended a Father's Day afternoon tea in The Street (communal area), a Carnival evening on the unit with a quiz, music & buffet, animal interaction afternoon, my husband attends breakfast club in The Street every Wednesday morning where he can meet residents from other units, there is gardening club, outings in the minibus, fortnightly church services which he enjoys plus regular singers providing afternoon entertainment. I feel very lucky to have found Ty Penrhos for his care.

Very happy with the care my mum receives, carers are always very welcoming and friendly on daffodil rise. Just a shame visiting closes at lunch time, shame we can't go into our loved ones rooms to feed them like how we was able to before at that time. Also, I feel as though my mum would be safer if walkers were monitored when walking around freely. As there has been reports of them walking into individuals rooms and taking items and my mum would not be able to react or call for help if needed.

The staff ensure my mum is well looked after and we feel happy leaving her in the care of Picton Court. The carers are caring, patient and make Mum laugh. They have gotten to know her over the year and take great care of her. Mum loves the singers and entertainment, especially when they sing the old songs. Thank you for taking such good care of her.

My wife is well cared for in a friendly, clean environment. The staff are friendly and take good care of my wife over the years she has been a resident in Brocastle
The caring staff work very hard, although I feel they are stretched when it comes to looking after the residents

They listen to any comments I may make and do their best to oblige.

Review of Ty Penrhos Care Home from Carolyn J (Sister-in-law of Resident) published on 16 March 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

I visit my sister in law every week for about one and half hours so am reluctant to be to critical because I am not here long enough. I feel staff are not attentive enough to the people they are caring for and spend a lot of time sitting their their phones or eating. I find I have to return clothes weekly that don't belong to my relative and she is often wearing clothes that are not hers. The ratings I have left are because I have no seen meals or activities and do not know how much is being paid.

The staff at Brocastle are absolutely outstanding. Mum was always treated with the upmost love, care and dignity up to her final days. The love they extended to us as a family was phenomenal. Always going above and beyond to ensure not only our Mum was well looked after but myself and my sisters too. I was blown away with the love and support the staff showed in what was an incredibly difficult time for us. Mum felt at home at Brocastle and we felt hugely reassured that the decision to select Brocastle care home was right for mum. I cannot thank the staff enough for everything they did for mum and the support they showed us. I couldn't recommend Brocastle more highly. Absolutely outstanding staff and Home.

I cannot thank the wonderful staff at Brocastle Manor enough for the caring and compassionate way they cared for my seriously ill husband during the four years he was in their care. He was suffering with advanced mixed dementia with psychotic episodes, which very often required nursing care which was complex, highly skilled and very often of an unpredictable nature. I noticed his carers were always kind patient and always willing to go the extra mile. The clinical leads Amanda Clara and Kirsty were always willing to answer any questions I had relating to his care plans which were always very thorough and up to date. Thank you wonderful people for being so humane and understanding during one of the most difficult periods of our families life.

On Saturday 18th October my mother was able to celebrate with a large group of family and friends in a special room in Cwmbran House. It was a fantastic celebration. A beautiful cake was provided for this special 100th birthday. Staff were warm, welcoming and professional, before, during and after her birthday. They were genuinely excited with us, such an occasion. Many guests mentioned the hospitality, space, and atmosphere of the home, thank you so much, a fantastic time was had by all.
