Picton Court is a not-for-profit care home set in attractive, spacious grounds with beautiful coastal and countryside views for over 55s in Porthcawl, near Bridgend, south Wales. They focus on giving a great quality of life to everyone, whatever their abilities and needs are.

The team of specially trained colleagues provide personalised care to all residents, ensuring their needs and preferences are met.

They pride themselves on providing a happy, friendly and warm environment that lets everyone be as independent or involved as their needs and wants allow.

Residents enjoy a programme of varied activitiesm as well as organised day trips to local beaches and restaurants. Social interaction is further encouraged through community and church services, communion, music for health, choirs and concerts.

All bedrooms at Picton court are unique in shape and dimensions, enjoying panoramic views and offering en-suite bathrooms, televisions, telephone points and fitted wardrobes with matching units and chairs. The home is tastefully decorated and people are encouraged to personalise their rooms with small furnishings, pictures and photographs.

Picton Court is a stone's throw from Porthcawl town centre, which offers a full range of services and amenities. While just 2.5 miles away is the famous sea front of Porthcawl, popular not only for its fish and chips, but the annual visit from hundreds of Elvis Presley impersonators. It is also 1.5 miles away from the iconic Kenfig nature reserve and Prince of Wales public house, both of which have a vast history and are famous in the area.

We can't ask for better care for Mum. The staff are so patient and caring at all times. They attend to all her needs. Regular checks and empathy, also dignity at all times. Can't thank them enough. Mum's dietary needs are met, most of the time although some meals could be better. Overall I would highly
recommend Picton Court to any family and friends. Thank you to all.

Picton Court has taken care of my mother in the nursing care section to the best degree they can and have managed all aspects of her health and holistic well-being to a very satisfactory degree. We would highly recommend this care home for family who wish to move their loved ones in times of need.

I visit my cousin in nursing and I am happy with the care she receives, the staff are vey kind and caring. My brother ad also in the nursing area and he received excellent care. I have no complaints and would recmmend the home.

What can I say to express my gratefulness to all the staff, who give 100% to all residents. Any issues are dealt with kindness and thoughtfulness. I cannot say how pleased I am that my husband was given a place at Picton. He is cared for and that's all I can wish for.

My mother has been in Picton Court for just over one year. On all my visits I have found the staff to be professional, efficient in the daily tasks they carry out and most of all treat the residents with respect.
I would highly recommend Picton Court to anyone looking for a first class Care Home.

The staff are really hardworking and lovely to my mum. The managers do not really acknowledge you if you should happen to see them around the home. The entertainment is fab and my mum really enjoys this.

My mother who is now 104 years old, has been in Picton Court since she was 101 years old. On my frequent visits I have found the staff to be friendly and efficient and have a very caring attitude to the residents. My mother is happy at Picton Court. I would recommend the home to any family looking for
a good home for an elderly loved one.

As soon as you enter Picton Court you are given a warm welcome from all the staff. As my mother needs 24 hour nursing care, this is given with dignity and sincerity. I cannot thank them all for giving me peace of mind knowing my mother is well looked after and in a safe environment I have dealt with
the nurses, carers, receptionist, kitchen and maintenance team and all have been wonderful and nothing is to much trouble. Knowing my mother is happy in her new surroundings, makes me happy. Thank you and well done to everyone at Picton Court.

Residents are treated as individuals with a clear care plan to follow. The unit is peaceful, indicating everyone is comfortable. All staff including laundry and cleaning staff are friendly, polite and considerate to residents. The unit is warm, well-lit and airy. Food is well prepared and well presented,
drinks are plentiful throughout the day. Activities are frequent for those who want to and are able to take part. Clothes are laundered well and hung in the wardrobe, well done everyone!

I find it difficult to give an honest/personal view of the care home since I have no experience of any family members being in care or the price of it, it is satisfactory. My wife has been in Picton Court for 4 weeks and I have completed my answers with her help. I have at times thought there was not
enough staff available to assist my wife in toileting and mobility.

My dad has been a resident for six months. We have seen an improvement in his physical looks. The care team are lovely. He seems settled but doesn't know where he is due to his dementia.

Although activities are on offer my parents have chosen not to take part even though the staff have encouraged them to do so. Staff are very caring and attentive and all their needs are met. My mother was a resident in the Dementia Unit at Picton Court for almost two years. I and my family would like to thank all the staff for the kind and professional care that they gave my mother. The staff who looked after her care needs and also those behind the scenes were fantastic. We were always
made to feel welcome when we came to visit, and the staff were genuinely kind and caring. Often, we had a good laugh with residents and staff during our visits. Sorry, it has taken a while to write this, but a big thank you to everyone at Picton Court.

Shajitha Augustine

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2013

Shajitha has worked for Hafod since 2008 and joined Picton Court as Home Manager from 2013.


Qualifying with a BSc Nursing in 1998 whilst living in India, Shajitha has always been very committed and compassionate about care and believes her career is the most awarding job.


Shajitha enjoys supporting and leading a team of excellent and dedicated staff who do their very best to give a high level of care to all residents. Although as home manager this can be challenging, Shajitha loves being apart of the Picton Court team.

Celine Varghese

Job Title: Deputy Home/Cinical Nurse Manager Joined: 2008

Celine joined Picton Court in 2008 as a registered general nurse (RGN) and then moved into the role of deputy manager in 2012. She loves being part of our fantasic team and enjoys working with our lovely residents.
