I was really pleased to get my mum into this care home as the first impressions were lovely. Mum was in there for 17 months and I was very pleased with all aspects of the home. Mum was well looked after. The choice of food was amazing as was the food itself. Every time I saw mum she was always spotlessly clean. Over the last 12 months when the home had been closed to visitors I was always well informed as to what was happening with her. The staff from the cleaners to the management were first class. There is nothing that I can fault. The staff were so caring, my mother at times was not the easiest of people to deal with but they never complained. Mum was always treated with dignity. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The entertainment was first class although this had changed over the last 12 months, Covid fault, not the home. I would recommend this home to anyone.

Mum is safe in the care home and gets on with all of the staff and residents. There are activities most days and there is a very friendly atmosphere.

I have always found every member of staff very obliging, kind and cheerful when carrying out their duties. Also, especially in the case of the seniors, very professional.

I feel all staff do everything they can to make my mother comfortable under sometimes difficult circumstances. Marked the room as such only because a shower would have been great (falls perhaps and extra cleaning) and the food cooked on a large scale, sometimes appears a bit "tired". The manager always listens and helpful to requests.

From the first visit, we were impressed with the lovely rooms (kept clean and hygienic) and homely atmosphere. We have made friends with staff and clients alike. One of the family visit daily and are always made welcome. Food is excellent - choice given at every meal. Social activities are second to none. Mum regularly plays bowls, darts, bingo etc. Regular church services are held in the lounge. The management, senior carers and carers are friendly, caring, conscientious and have the knowledge and skills needed to care for mum, ensuring privacy is maintained and wishes respected. I am encouraged to be involved with some decisions of mum's care.

Mum is safe, happy, well looked after and involved in activities. Grateful to Picton Court.

My mother moved in on the 20th May and so far the managed care and all the staff have been so helpful. The home is clean and friendly. I live 200 miles away but I'm confident that my mother will be well looked after.

All the staff in nursing care are wonderful, always making sure she is looked after.
I feel the kitchen staff always make sure they use her special milk and will also offer to make her items with her milk like pancakes.
The place is kept clean and tidy and they make sure to ask or show you worn or damaged clothes so you can decide to fix them or recycle.

They always ask after me and always include my family on special occasions (ie Mother's Day, Easter).

My mother had the greatest of care and was treated with dignity at all times. She was encouraged to engage and participate and improved greatly during her time at Picton Court. Unfortunately, she was taken too soon.

All the staff at Picton Court ensured that the respite care for the service user was enjoyable. From the initial telephone call to when the stay commenced was just three days. The staff enabled the service user to re-gain his strength and independence and encouraged him to socialise during his stay. Highly recommended.

Review from E M E (Cousin of Resident) published on 25 July 2018 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
This review is based on twice-weekly visits to my 92-year-old female cousin, who is physically frail but mentally alert and at times, strong willed! It covers a period of 3 years plus. Throughout this time and without exception, I have found Picton Courts care staff to be patient, considerate and above all, kind and cheerful, whatever the circumstances. The duty nurses have ensured that any medical intervention, whenever needed day or night, has been prompt and effective, and that I am immediately informed.
Meals are wholesome and varied and there is a good range of social activities for residents. Private rooms and communal spaces are clean and airy.
At any meetings with Picton Courts managers, I have found them to be helpful and sensible in offering practical solutions to any problem encountered, with an impressive focus on the best interests of their residents.

Overall, it has been a pleasure, not a duty, to visit.

My husband was in respite care at Picton Court Care Home for one week. The care he received was superb. The staff were so caring, it was incredible. I went in at lunchtimes to give him his meal and we were taken to the conservatory for privacy, which was excellent. I sincerely hope he can stay there again.

I cannot thank the staff at Picton Court enough for looking after Mum for the time she was there. Everyone was always so friendly, positive, reassuring and helpful in every way and their commitment to mum’s welfare and their loving care was evident. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they encouraged feedback and welcomed family involvement also.

After looking at several care homes prior to my mother moving into nursing care, I decided that Picton Court felt the best home to provide her care. She has been at the home since January 2018 and I have no complaints. The care staff are very friendly and helpful and are providing good care to my mother. Nothing is too much trouble for the care staff.
