Anna and the team at Ty Coch have provided excellent care to my mother-in-law since she moved to the home following a long hospital stay.

They have catered to Nancy's needs going the extra mile in ensuring that she is well looked after and cared for.

They are excellent in providing updates to

us and letting my husband and I know if there is anything that Nancy requires.

They are very proactive in supporting Nancy, whether it be in a mental or physical capacity and this is communicated through the care plans that are agreed.

Ty Coch arrange a variety of activities for their residents and for those less mobile they ensure that they have opportunities to participate.

I would highly recommend Ty Coch for anyone looking for a nursing home for their loved ones.

My experience is nothing but positive. All the staff are helpful and caring and I cannot speak highly enough of them . The home is always clean and tidy and well maintained. We are kept well informed of how my mother is doing and if there are any issues regarding her health and care. Should any issues
do occur the staff don't hesitate to contact me which is very much appreciated.

Mum was with this home for just over one year. Was rarely ever hoisted out of bed to wheelchair unless family requested even though she liked to get up and into her chair for the day. Wasn't provided a shower chair for several months despite requests from family. Mum ended up in hospital in Nov 2025
due to neglect from the nursing home. Never followed up with me despite an official complaint being lodged with the manager, have now had to seek legal action. Wouldn't ever recommend! Horrible place with awful management. Luckily mum is in a new place and the care standards are night and day, despicable what Ty Coch has put us through as a family.
Reply from Anna Cooper, General Manager at Ty Coch Nursing HomeWe take all feedback and complaints very seriously, While we are sorry that you feel your mother's care fell short of your expectations, I must clarify that although an initial concern was communicated via telephone in November 2025, no formal complaint was ever lodged. At Ty Coch, we treat any concerns raised with utmost seriousness and adhere strictly to our safeguarding procedures. We regret that you feel the outcome of the closure of our safeguarding referral was not upheld and wasnot the desired outcome that you expected.

We are glad to know that your mother is now in an environment where you believe her needs are being better addressed, and we wish her ongoing comfort and well-being.

Should you wish to discuss this matter further, I am available or senior management, escalated to the RI and to CEO level.

My mother is a resident at Ty Coch. Her level of care is generally good, with some carers being excellent. Generally, the carers are very kind and competent. The food is generally of a very good standard with a good variety. The evening meal variety is much better; for a while, there was mainly soup/sandwiches.
The entertainment staff were excellent and do a wonderful job!! The home is kept very clean, and the laundry is excellent. The home could do with some cosmetic improvement as some areas are quite tired.

My sister has been at Ty Coch for over two years and has settled in well, the care that she now receives is very good. Her room is kept tidy and spotless at all times and the staff are very kind and caring in everything they do for the residents. The food they provide is very good, and the residents
clothing is always freshly laundered. The entertainment that the home provides for its residents is excellent and I cannot thank and praise the activity team enough for everything that they do in keeping the residents fully entertained at all times, something that I've witnessed first hand with my sister, whenever she is participating with the activity team she is a totally different person, they seem to bring out the best in the residents. They have had a truly positive impact in what they do for others in entertaining the residents of Ty Coch care home. I found the activity team to be compassionate, caring and dedicated in what they do, they are an absolute credit to their profession and a great asset to your organisation, and as a family we cannot thank them enough. Keep up the great work that you do.

The only reason I marked poor for the room is its a struggle for myself and staff to assist in the toilet, there fine for someone who can walk but no room for a stedy, and its not fair for anyone to be charged extra because of this reason rooms should suit the person's needs. This is my only issue.
Staff and management are all amazing can't fault them.

I have my mother, her sister and her sisters husband all at this wonderful care home. The staff are so very caring. The entertainments and activities provided are absolutely brilliant and stimulating Taking residents out for the day really helps. The food is excellent with plenty of variety to suit
their needs , and more. Their social media page keeps my family who live abroad and myself up-to-date with everything that's happening.
When my time comes, I know where I'm going. I can't praise this home enough.

Care has improved a lot since the last inspection report. The staff now have had more training. The manager has left and a new manager is in place. She is much better at managing the home than the other one who never left her office or rarely left her office.

I am a friend of one of the residents whom I visit regularly. She finds the rapid turnover of staff in her part of the home irksome in the sense that she has to repeatedly describe her preferences to the new people whose induction into basic procedures does not seem thorough. Menus in advance and food
choices are poorly organised. Quite often food is late or cups of tea are forgotten. My friend is articulate and can communicate on their shortfalls but many in the home could not.

My mum has been fortunate enough to have been accepted for regular respite care in Ty Coch Nursing Home. Each time I apply I keep my fingers crossed that her bid for respite will be accepted from themselves.
Mum is very well cared for during these times of respite. I have had no concerns at all. The
environment, staff and standard of care are exceptional. The staff are approachable and keen to help. The activity team are outstanding. There is always something planned to stimulate or entertain the residents. I am extremely happy with Ty Coch and their care of my mum.

Ty Coch has been kind in itself in helping my mum settle into this last stage of her life. It is warm and clean, and the staff are friendly.
The main issue that stops it from getting my 5th star is that there is no WiFi for inmates. This is affecting my mum's well-being as she is a 21st-century Gran
and relies on email, WhatsApp and the internet in general in order to stay connected with her friends and family all over the world.
Please could you make it a priority to install fit-for-purpose WiFi for our family members?
Thank you.

A massive Thank you to Ty Coch Nursing Home for giving my father a high standard of care. My father was placed in the nursing home for end-of-life care after being discharged from a hospice. Ty Coch provided my father with a supportive bed which made a huge difference in making him feel more comfortable.
The food was made fresh and the staff went to great lengths to make sure it was the correct consistency for my father to be able to swallow. The home was very clean and tidy. Carers, catering staff, linen staff, reception team, management, everyone was so kind, caring and welcoming. In my father's final hours not only did they do a wonderful job caring for my father but the support and care they gave to the family will never be forgotten. We really appreciate your kindness. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.715)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.715) out of 10 for Ty Coch Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.145 for Ty Coch Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (39 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 138 Ratings = 4.145
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.57 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ty Coch Nursing Home is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 10 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.82
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
