Ty Coch is an outstanding nursing home, and my sister and I were so relieved that our father spent the last month or so of his life under the home's care. You get a good impression immediately on entering, as it looks (and smells) spotlessly clean. The home is tautly managed, and any issues over care
are dealt with promptly and effectively; the staff are committed and caring, as well as experienced, and the staff make every effort to make both residents and family feel at home, with social activities for residents who want to participate. Special mention should be made of the food, which is very good indeed.

Amazing respite care for our father. The whole carer team are wonderful, so kind and thoughtful. It was so appreciated, the help and care. You are all so kind and the events team organise such super events which are so enjoyed. You've all been so welcoming and we appreciate it ever so much. A happy
new year to you all. Thank you so much. Maintenance is also amazing - the TV made all the difference.

My father-in-law has been so well cared for whilst in Ty Coch. The staff have been very kind and made him feel so welcome. He has been able to settle in and even though his needs are complex, every effort has been made by the care home to provide him with tailored individual care. Our family is very
very grateful for the love and care provided to him.

A great nursing home, always informative about dad's health and always informative if he is ever unwell. The home is spotlessly clean and the staff are very attentive to all residents. It's just a well-run nursing home, that as a relative, I have great trust in to look after my father.

Ty Coch provided an excellent standard of service. Their focus is on the resident's health and well-being. They offer the residents the opportunity to continue to enjoy a level of independent living against a backdrop of outstanding care. As a family, we all have peace of mind that our mother is very
happy in a friendly, caring and professional environment and we would happily recommend Ty Coch as a residential care home.

The home is very clean. My wife has extensive care needs but whenever I visit, she has always been treated with dignity and respect. The staff are friendly and attentive; my wife is often taken to the lounge/garden so is not left alone and forgotten about. She has been there for almost a year now and
I am very happy with the standard of care provided.

I was slightly early for my scheduled visit but welcomed with enthusiasm. The lady helped me with a Rapid Antigen test to ensure a negative result was obtained before I was permitted to visit my aunt and uncle. They were having their lunch and being helped as required. Food was hot and obviously tasty
as both ate heartily. The room was warm, spacious and well maintained. Staff were regularly checking on their lunch progress, apart from the immediate helper. A very well organised and staffed establishment. Well done.

Mum has been a resident at Ty Coch for almost 4 years. The work of the staff is exemplary. They provide an excellent standard of care, are hard-working and very professional. A real understanding of individual needs is shown by staff, treating people with care and patience, friendliness and respect.
The atmosphere is positive and activities are well planned, thoughtful, enjoyable and stimulating. The staff have created a really welcoming, homely atmosphere where residents feel valued and safe.

My mother moved into the home in late January 2021. As I suspect is mostly the case, Mum was not enthusiastic initially about having to leave her own home but realised, after an extended stay in hospital that there really was no other option. This was during a difficult period of the Covid 19 lockdown
but we were lucky enough to be offered a place in this delightful place. She is now safe, well looked after, enjoying the company and especially the food. She also likes and values many of the staff who I have found to be both very professional and caring. Thank you to all concerned.

Ty Coch provides the most excellent care for my aunt. The staff provide superb care with love and dignity. Cleanliness is above reproach, both the rooms and clients personal care.

The food is superb. My aunt recently celebrated her 100th birthday and a wonderful party was held in her honour.

The

only complaint is a desperate need for more parking for visitors.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.998)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.998) out of 10 for Ty Coch Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.360 for Ty Coch Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (48 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 114 Ratings = 4.36
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.638 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ty Coch Nursing Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.738
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: DEPUTY MANAGER Joined: 2019

I worked as a Nurse for three years in one of the Linc homes, Capel Grange. Since then, I was promoted to Lead Nurse in Penylan House and most recently to the position of Deputy Manager at Ty Coch. Prior to moving to the UK in 2010 I worked as an emergency room (A&E) Nurse in the Philippines for three years and also within a medical surgical ward, which included patients with acute and terminal conditions as well as pre and post-surgery. The aspects I most enjoy in my role are empowering my colleagues to deliver person centred care and seeing how our dedicated team have a positive impact on our Residents.
I consider the relationships that I have established with Residents and Relatives my most significant achievement as they are at the core of everything we do and as a Nurse we are their advocate.
