My husband has been in Ty Gwyn for three weeks. As a family we are very impressed by how thoroughly they acquired information about him to ensure that his transition into the home went smoothly. On the day he was admitted we were met by Callum who helped us in with everything we had brought with us. This included a television that he set up immediately in my husband's room. The care and nursing staff are caring and helpful. He has had an appointment with a podiatrist, a GP and an optician. This has lifted a weight of responsibility from me. A hair cut will be next. They have ordered him a wheel chair. They have an open door policy so he has already had multiple visits from friends and neighbours

The team at Ty Gwyn Care Home has been exceptional. For the period of my mother's nursing care, she received a very caring and professional service. Her final days were made peaceful by the nursing staff and we are so grateful.

My Mum Margaret spent the last year of her life as a resident at Ty Gwyn, and I have to say loved every minute of it.
The care my mum received was exceptional, and I want to say thankyou to everyone in the whole home for loving and respecting my mum in her final year.
There are too many people to thank individually, and many that you don't even see, who work tirelessly , 24/7 to make sure all the residents have the best life possible. from the nurses, cleaners, carers ,kitchen staff and staff that work at night.
When we visited mum she would talk about staff we had never met, and we would question if these people existed, or if they were a figment of mums fading memory. Clearly her memory was still pretty good, as we finally met many of these people toward the end of mums very fulfilled life.
Mum loved all the entertainment, especially the games, singing and the Church services that happened every week.

God bless you all and thank you so much for loving and caring for my mum x

I am delighted with the care that both of my parents receive at Ty Gwyn. The staff are incredible; always helpful, welcoming and extremely kind. My parents have settled in so well and enjoy their days in their new home. And it really does feel like home. Relatives are free to visit at any time. There are lots of daily activities as well as a salon for hair and nails. The menu is varied and food is well prepared. Each floor has a lovely dining area for residents.

A really lovely place.

A little early to write a report as my wife has only been in care for 2 weeks. Did have one issue with member of medical staff. My wife has constant pain in her left arm due to stroke. One evening it was so severe that I believed she needed to see a doctor. This person was totally dismissive although it was obvious the pain my wife had, experience with all other staff - wonderful.

Reply from Val Stan, Home Manager at Ty Gwyn Care Home

Many thanks for your review. I am sorry to hear that a member of staff was dismissive and as we have already discussed, your concerns will be taken further. At Ty Gwyn we are proud to offer an excellent quality of care for all our residents, and we also work alongside families and relatives, encouraging any feedback to strive for the best.

My mother moved into Ty Gwyn Nursing home on the 16th October 2024. This was a very difficult time for her and the family. However the staff team have been extraordinary. They are kind, caring, supportive, and extremely friendly. The nursing team are knowledgeable, reactive to changing needs , and are well trained. The manager is visible around the home and knows every resident and leads her team well. The administrator is the nicest person you could ever wish to meet. She is caring, kind and so helpful. I often found nurse with my mother after the end of their shift just sitting and talking with her, they always made time for my mother and the other residents. An excellent home.

There is a lovely friendly atmosphere and it really does strive to make it a home from home for the residents. There is always something to do for the residents should they want to join in. My mum is looking very well since she has been there and it's obvious she is being well looked after. I am very happy that mum is there and I feel very relaxed and at home when I go in to see mum as does she. It has a very homely feel and I often forget when I am in there, where I am.

My mother has been a resident of Ty Gwyn since 2021. The care and respect my mother has received is second to none. Nothing is too much trouble or a problem. All the staff are polite and professional. They take time with my mother to make sure she is comfortable, happy and cater for her every need. I am kept informed about my mother on a regular basis. It was a very difficult decision to place a relative in a care home but it has turned out to be the best decision because of the outstanding care that Ty Gwyn provides. I am always met with a friendly welcome and Ty Gwyn feels like one big extended family.

Mum moved to Ty Gwyn 2 years ago. . We were told we should treat it like home from home. This has been the case all along when the family visit they are made very welcome by all the staff who have become almost like part of our extended family. I cannot praise the staff enough for what they do above and beyond their own duties at times. Ty Gwyn has a lovely sheltered garden at the front of the building. Residents can sit out all weathers and watch the world go by. Mum and a few residents and family were out and I jokingly said to one of the nurses "all we need now is a bottle of Rosé like being on holiday lol". Ten minutes later out came Rosé ,cheese and biscuits. This is only one of the many things that the staff at Ty Gwyn do for the residents from admin to kitchen staff chatting to the residents to the activities coordinator arranging for mum to meet up with an old friend of hers from another local care home . Definitely home from home - thank you to all the staff .

Very pleased with the care my father inlaw recieves in the care home. They keep us well informed of his health and wellbeing. Minutes of meetings are sent to us by email and communication is always quick and responsive. My father inlaw is always clean and tidy when we see him and there have been no issues of concern. The decision for our Mum to go into a nursing home was awful at the time, we knew we couldn't manage any longer but had overwhelming guilt and feelings of failure. We visited a few homes which were nice enough however when we first walked through the main entrance to Ty Gwyn we immediately knew this would suit our Mum. The home had a light, airy and modern feel, it was warm with a lovely smell. All the staff we met were friendly and down to earth.
Anything the residents want to do or have is catered for, nothing is too much trouble. You can have friends and family in, bring children, dogs and cats, have a takeaway, hold birthday celebrations etc. All the staff are professional and kind and the management really do their utmost to make sure the residents are happy and all their needs and wants are catered for.

When the sun is out, lots of residents and their families sit outside in the garden and it's a lovely and supportive little community with a real family feel.

My 95-year-old mum went into Ty Gwyn for respite care from hospital after a fall at home and broken pelvis. As she lived independently she has had difficulty making the transition into needing nursing care. I visit frequently at odd hours, always numerous staff on duty and willing to help with any request. The staff have been fantastic, professional management under the manager and I would particularly like to mention the nurses and the carers with whom I have regular contact. This is in no order and to the many others I see working professionally but I don't know personally. My mother came in tired, confused and anxious after a transfer. A staff member came into her room, held her hand for an hour and talked to her about life in the home, what to expect and just engaged with her (my mum would say as a person and not a sack of potatoes). She is always happy and just an angel. The housekeeping is excellent and the home always smells fresh.

My dad has only been with them a very short time, after a long hospital stay. The staff here listen to any concerns you have and act with care and compassion. My dad had a major heath crisis.
