My gran came into Brynfield on a temporary basis, when it came time for her to go home she decided to stay permanently as she has had such a good experience. The care staff are fantastic and so caring towards her. There are always activities going on as she tells me that she wins a lot in bingo. Given
that she is a picky eater the wide variety of food on offer, let's just say she will never go hungry. Would highly recommend it. Thank you so much to the staff at Brynfield.

Communication with the resident’s family was minimal and therefore we relied on my mother telling us how things were. The day to day care staff was kind and caring but they were so busy it often took half an hour to answer a call bell. There were times help to get to bed didn’t happen until near midnight.
My
mother has no dementia and we were told this was so for many residents. It wasn’t. Doors to outside were kept locked because of dementia resident’s safety which meant my mother had to wait to be taken out to the small terrace.
Televisions were on in communal areas for most of the time, so my mother spent much time in her room.
Promises of walks out only happened once.
Food was good and my mother looked healthier when she left the care home.
Overall staff were well-intentioned but understaffed and there was a general feeling of disorganisation.
We moved my mother to be nearer to us but would have wanted to move her even if we had lived locally as this was not the home for her.

I have found this to be the best care home for my aunt. I visited many care homes but this was by far the best. The staff here are wonderful and since being here she looks so much better and has settled in great.

My grandmother has been living at Brynfield for a number of years now. She is treated with dignity and respect and I feel she is safe and well looked after. She has formed good relationships with certain staff and I feel they cater for her needs as best they can. The home has worked hard to keep her
safe throughout the pandemic for which I am extremely grateful.

My mother has been happy at Brynfield Manor since her very first day. We have always known that she is safe and well cared for as the staff always go that extra mile.
My mother is now reaching the end of her life. The care received by each member of staff has been exemplary. We will never forget their
kindness, professionalism and the way they looked after us as well as my mum during her final days.

My mother-in-law has been suffering from dementia for a while and we selected Brynfield Manor for her to spend her last few years. The care she received was of the highest standard from staff who really made her time here the happiest it could be under the circumstances. My mother-in-law was at Brynfield
for 3 years.

We chose Brynfield Manor three years ago for Mum because of its lovely environment, extremely nice and caring staff, who went over and above to make sure Mum was looked after to the highest standard. The meals were of the best quality that you could hope for. Thank you to all the care and nursing staff
for giving Mum a quality last three years of her life.

We are very happy with the care Mum receives at Brynfield Manor. The staff are warm and friendly to both Mum and ourselves when we visit. Their care has been particularly good during the Covid-19 issue and we are very grateful for that. Mum seems very content which is of great comfort to us as we can't
visit as often as we would like.

My husband has been at Brynfield Manor for over eighteen months with dementia. I am 100% happy with the care he receives. Until lockdown, I was visiting every day. Every carer, nurse, chef, admin and domestics are all so lovely with all residents. It's a very happy care home residents are always smiling.
The manager must be very proud of her team. It's a happy home.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.961) out of 10 for Brynfield Manor Nursing & Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 78 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 77 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.961 for Brynfield Manor Nursing & Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (921 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 933 Ratings = 4.961
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brynfield Manor Nursing & Residential Care Home is based on 77 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 73 registered maximum number of service users is 14.6, which has been reached with 77 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
