My mother-in-law has been suffering from dementia for a while and we selected Brynfield Manor for her to spend her last few years. The care she received was of the highest standard from staff who really made her time here the happiest it could be under the circumstances. My mother-in-law was at Brynfield
for 3 years.

We chose Brynfield Manor three years ago for Mum because of its lovely environment, extremely nice and caring staff, who went over and above to make sure Mum was looked after to the highest standard. The meals were of the best quality that you could hope for. Thank you to all the care and nursing staff
for giving Mum a quality last three years of her life.

We are very happy with the care Mum receives at Brynfield Manor. The staff are warm and friendly to both Mum and ourselves when we visit. Their care has been particularly good during the Covid-19 issue and we are very grateful for that. Mum seems very content which is of great comfort to us as we can't
visit as often as we would like.

My husband has been at Brynfield Manor for over eighteen months with dementia. I am 100% happy with the care he receives. Until lockdown, I was visiting every day. Every carer, nurse, chef, admin and domestics are all so lovely with all residents. It's a very happy care home residents are always smiling.
The manager must be very proud of her team. It's a happy home.

Staff are very helpful and residents enjoy the interaction and activities, eg, singalong sessions, spending time with the dog that visits. I feel comfortable that Nan is in good hands.

My mother's experience at Brynfield Manor Nursing & Residential Care Home was one of love, care and understanding. Her personalised care plan meant that she was looked after with absolute empathy; I cannot thank the staff enough for giving my dearest mum the happiness and dignity that she deserved.
She loved the stunning sea views.

Everyone was very helpful in difficult circumstances, helping mum to settle. The staff are always willing to work with the family to find ways to overcome any obstacle to mum being able to enjoy life as much as possible. From what she says we feel she is happy and content.

We visit my aunt once a week and find that even in her condition, where she cannot talk or eat (fed by PEG), she is well looked after. If we have any complaints, they are seen to immediately. Staff are very friendly and approachable.

Despite my relative's reluctance to move into a residential home she settled extremely quickly and now some years later would not move/leave for anyone. Everything at the home is at a very high standard including care, accommodation, food and general resident contact.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.965)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.965) out of 10 for Brynfield Manor Nursing & Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 86 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 85 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.965 for Brynfield Manor Nursing & Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (1017 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (6 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 1029 Ratings = 4.965
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brynfield Manor Nursing & Residential Care Home is based on 85 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 73 registered maximum number of service users is 14.6, which has been reached with 85 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
