Mum has been in Leadon Court for over 18 months and it is such a comfort to see her smiling and always happy. Sadly mum now needs to be fed her food & there is always someone available to help her. On the rare occasion there has been an issue, it is quickly addressed and resolved. Having a bedside lamp
in the room has made the room much cosier and not so hospital feeling - a very nice touch that the manager added recently. All staff, new & old, are always ready with a smile and love mum so much: we can tell! Thank you for looking after mum so well
Reply from Caroline Leighton, Registered Home Manager at Leadon Court Nursing HomeThank you so much for the lovely review. It means so much to know that relatives feel trust and safe when we care for their loved ones. Mum is an absolute joy to care for and is very much loved by the staff. Caroline.

The standard of care at Leadon Court is exceptional. The staff are professional, attentive, and always treat residents with dignity and respect. Communication with family members is excellent, and it's clear that the wellbeing of residents is their top priority. We are extremely grateful for the care
my mother-in-law receives and would highly recommend this nursing home. We are so grateful for everything every member of staff does

The staff not only look after my Mum's needs but also take care of the families too. It is the hardest thing to watch a loved one decline in health and stature. Without the staff providing me with a friendly comment and a shoulder to cry on it would make it so much harder. Thank you and may our chats
about Mum continue x

Mum moved to Leadon Court in January 2025, and we can't praise the staff enough. It was a difficult decision to move mum to a care home, but the staff made the transition easier and have been very supportive. The staff are great and really seen to know and genuinely care for the residents.

The care my dad had during the last few months of his life whilst he was at Leadon Court was excellent. The staff are kind, caring and sensitive. Dad wasn't easy to care for. But they tried their best to lift his mood whilst not pressuring him to do anything he didn't want to do. They were so sensitive
during his last few days.

Both my parents are full time residents at Leadon Court as my mother has vascular dementia and my dad has early onset dementia and clinical depression. They are quite immobile and need regular help to get around and Mum can be difficult as her dementia has adversely affected her character. This doesn't
affect the staff at Leadon Court as they are great with my parents and clearly know them very well as Mum and Dad are so comfortable with them. Also the staff responsible for organizing entertainment etc. have to not just provide this but also raise additional funds through raffles etc. to supplement their small budget. They do this on top of focusing on the needs of each resident. Amazing. It feels like my folks have an additional family at Leadon and I can't speak highly or thank them enough.

My husband has been a resident since March 1st of this year, he is so happy and settled and loves all the staff. Not just the nursing/care staff but also the cleaners, cooks and kitchen staff along with the girls who do the laundry and the activities/entertainment staff.
For my part, it is such a blessing
and relief to know that he is being cared for and that all his needs are being met and that he is safe and happy as I am sadly no longer able to look after him at home.
My best friend's mum is also a resident at Leadon Court and the whole family feels the same.
Would recommend this lovely care home every time.

My mum has been a resident at Leadon Court since December 2023. I don't think words can do justice to the appreciation that my family and I have for the compassion, high standard of care and the supportive and welcoming nature of all the staff involved in Mum's care. Nothing is too much trouble, the
atmosphere in the home feels uplifting and homely and the cleanliness is excellent. As a former nurse, having worked in a number of nursing homes over the years and also having worked in the patient safety field. This is by far the best nursing home that I have ever come across and it is so reassuring to be able to entrust my lovely mum to the caring and capable hands of this dedicated and special team of people, in all roles throughout the home. A huge thank you to all at Leadon Court. You are amazing and you should all be very proud of yourselves.

A nursing home wasn’t what we wanted for my dad. But the care my dad received at Leadon Court was off the scale. The staff are so welcoming and so caring. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer care home for my Dad to spend his last days. Well done to everyone.

My mother has been in Leadon Court Care Centre for about a year, so I know the place fairly well. There is a constant buzz of staff purposefully going about their business, doing what needs to be done whilst laughing and joking with the residents. I believe that Leadon Court's best virtue is its staff.
It is total quality management (TQM) in action. All the staff, that is, managers, cleaners, laundry staff, care assistants, hairdressers, activities staff, kitchen staff, helpers, nurses and maintenance workers, all know their jobs, do it well and take the time to speak to residents and help them whenever they can. Leadon Court has visiting entertainers, including musicians, a Welsh Elvis and nursery school children. The guests and the residents have a great time. I am forever grateful that my mother is being cared for by such warm, friendly and professional people. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Leadon Court Care Centre and its wonderful staff.

My dad attends the Day Centre at Leadon Court twice a week. And I have to say the staff there are amazing with him. He has dementia, so needs help to keep his brain active. Which the staff do. Playing games, playing music and just general chit chat which he loves. He loves a cup of tea too and has a
bite to eat. I just can't thank them enough for looking after him.

Our mum has been a resident at Leadon Court for three and a half years now. During this time, she has been receiving the best of care. Nursing staff keep us up to date with her medical needs, the carers look after her everyday requirements with kindness, respect and friendliness, making sure she is
well-fed, happy and comfortable. We cannot praise all the staff highly enough and alongside are the activities staff who keep the residents active and entertained. There are regular visitors in the form of choirs, singers and theatre groups, and there's a special link with the nursery next door that visits too. There are daily activities in the form of bingo, connect 4, arts and crafts, etc. Our family are grateful to everyone at Leadon Court for taking such good care of our lovely mum. Keep up the good work, and thank you!

My husband has been a resident for nearly three years. We wouldn’t want him to go anywhere else. Not only are the staff extremely efficient and caring to him they have shown me the same, this year especially during my illness and the death of my brother. I was unable to visit for many weeks but the
staff kept me fully informed as to his welfare. Sadly on TV we see many programmes showing poorly run nursing homes, I wish they would show how Leadon Court care for some of our most vulnerable senior citizens. Every good wish to all the staff during 2024.

While visiting my sister yesterday, we were blessed with a visit by the real Father Christmas and Mother Christmas who brought along some young children to say hello to all the residents and put smiles on their faces. All throughout the year, it never fails to amaze us how each and every one of the

My mother has been at Leadon Court Care Home for one year and has received the best care our family could ask for.
Nothing is too much trouble and nurses and care staff always give the very best welcome and the standard of care is to the letter, and always work to the best ability. Nothing is too much
trouble, if l need to ask any questions to the nurses about my mother's health they are always ready to give me an update. And always react if she is unwell and contact me to tell me if there any concerns.
Cleaning staff keep rooms and the home excellent. Plus laundry ladies also do an excellent job too.
Kitchen staff always go the extra mile to give residents what they enjoy eating.
And choices which is important, so my mum feels as if she is in her own home. Entertainment staff keep all the residents all involved and plenty going on, to suit all of the residents.
It is a pleasure to come to the home and see my mum smile, and being involved every step of the way of this journey.

My brother has been in the care home for almost a year and the care he has received has been outstanding. The staff at Leadon Court know all of the residents well and always know where my brother is and how he is feeling on a given day. We visit regularly and the home is always very clean and fresh.
All of the staff are friendly, positive and professional at all times. My brother always smiles when the staff speak to him and he clearly enjoys the attention that they give him. The activities, shows and special events that Leadon Court provides are excellent and well-tailored to the residents. The staff and home provide a happy, safe and positive environment and know the residents well and are always happy to talk to us when we visit. Given my brother's health issues, he could not be in a better home. Thank you, Leadon Court!

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.558) out of 10 for Leadon Court Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.808 for Leadon Court Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (115 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 130 Ratings = 4.808
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Leadon Court Nursing Home is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 34 registered maximum number of service users is 6.8, which has been reached with 10 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Caroline Leighton

Job Title: Registered Home Manager Joined: 2025

I qualified as a General Nurse in 1992 and initially worked in Kent.

I moved to Wales in 2015 and initially worked in Cardiff within the same group as Leadon Court, initially working as a nurse on the floor, moving on to Clinical Lead supporting the whole home, and then as Clinical Compliance Lead ensuring governance and compliance needs were met through robust auditing and providing training. I then gradually made the move to support Leadon Court in the middle of last year. I took over as Registered Home Manager in April 2025.

I work on transparency and honesty, ensuring I offer support not only to residents and their families but also to staff.

I love a challenge and I love improvement, and I aim to strive for the best for myself and in others.
