The Forge has been excellent. When my Dad was taken into the centre, I was very worried as he has young-onset dementia. I live 5 hours away, so I am not able to be with him as much as I would like. The centre is homely, comfortable and ensures that his needs are met day and night. The staff are caring,
compassionate, and follow his care plan and allow him to make choices. The centre is open 24 hours, so I can contact them at any time. The staff and manager are always available to talk about my Dad's care and any changes that may be needed to support him. The food is great and offers a lot of choice. They have daily activities set throughout the day to keep his mind active, and they have a beautiful garden where he can relax. They also have a specialist on-site mental health nurse who understands his care needs and is always available to chat; I don't ever feel a burden calling to ask for information.
I would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who looks after my Dad and gives him

I am so happy with the placement here at the forge. The wait for a place that would accept someone with very challenging communication difficulties and behaviours which would stop some services offering care. At the forge people are seen as human beings and the compassion and care shown by the dedicated
team is evident by how well my loved one has settled and thrived in only a few weeks. He is eating better. Sleeping better. Although non verbal he is smiling now. There is a real dementia understanding here. The management are so caring and so professional. They will not let you leave with a concern or worry. They listen and understand what it must be like allowing someone to go into care. We are so lucky we have found somewhere where the residents are at the heart of everything. The nurse team are so invested in wellbeing. Even the ancillary support team behind the care and treatment are very special people. You will not find a more knowledgeable caring or professional home

Thank you for your kind words - It is an honour to able to care for your loved one as it is the rest of our residents here at The Forge. We do see everyone as human beings regardless of their needs and struggles. To be able to bring normality back to someone's life with dementia is such a rewarding experience and we are lucky to be able to do this on a day to day basis. We are here to help in anyway we can, and supporting families and loved ones is a big part our job too. Thank you again for your kind words - its an absolute pleasure to be able to do what we do!

The staff not only look after my Mum's needs but also take care of the families too. It is the hardest thing to watch a loved one decline in health and stature. Without the staff providing me with a friendly comment and a shoulder to cry on it would make it so much harder. Thank you and may our chats

Mum moved to Leadon Court in January 2025, and we can't praise the staff enough. It was a difficult decision to move mum to a care home, but the staff made the transition easier and have been very supportive. The staff are great and really seen to know and genuinely care for the residents.

I am really sad because my dad passed away on Friday, and my mother passed away a little while ago. But I must give a shoutout to the whole team at The Forge Care Home. They have been amazing from day one. The care and respect they showed to my parents was second to none, not just to them but to our
whole family. I got really friendly with many of the care staff and reception staff. They treat all the residents like family, and it is clear that it is not just a job to them. The care in meeting my parents' needs was second to none, and it takes special caring people to do what they do. To them, it is a vocation, not a job. Big thanks to every member of The Forge Care Home for making my parents feel at home. They should all be proud and please keep up the excellent work you do, including supporting families.

The care my dad had during the last few months of his life whilst he was at Leadon Court was excellent. The staff are kind, caring and sensitive. Dad wasn't easy to care for. But they tried their best to lift his mood whilst not pressuring him to do anything he didn't want to do. They were so sensitive
during his last few days.

Very person-centred. Very flexible. Extremely caring. Accommodating activity team. Food, meals excellent. End of live care outstanding. I was able to sleep by Dad's side and stay with him 24/7. Even a camp bed was provided for me. Chefs made meals for me. Every member of the team from manager, chefs,
cleaners, carers, nurses, and activity team are a credit to the care home industry. Please be proud. Team always put residents first. The Forge really is a big family. We feel blessed that Dad called it home.

From the moment Mum arrived the kindness and care provided was exceptional. All staff are compassionate and caring, Mum wasn't just a resident she was part of the Forge family. Staff had a lot of patience and time, not only with our mum, who at times could be very difficult, but also to Mum's family.
We are a large family and visited daily and every time we were welcomed (day/night), updated on Mum's day etc. and they talked to us, clearly explaining everything so we could understand. Before we chose The Forge, we visited a different care home and we knew The Forge was the best place for Mum! This gave us a lot of comfort from day one!
Reply from Kayleigh Morris, Business Support Manager at The Forge Care Centre

Thank you for your kind words Lesley. It was our honour to be able to care for your mum. She was such a character and she will be spoken of fondly amongst the staff, for a very long time to come. We will also miss the rest of you! Working in care we get to know the families just as much as our residents, and your whole family were always so supportive of The Forge and continue to support us in the memory of your mum. We can't thank you all enough. You will all always be a part of The Forge Family. x

Due to my living location most of my communication with the home was through telephone conversations which, on a few occasions, what I was told was different when my family visited. When I was able to visit the care home in person, I could see the care my mother was receiving was of a very high standard.
It was lovely to see how the staff took time out to say goodbye to my mother prior to her passing. When my mother was at End of Life the staff went out of their way to comfort and care for the family who were there at that time, whilst at the same time caring for my mother.

My mum went into Millheath after I had to take her out of another home as it was so bad it should be closed down, so we were worried. But from day one, I knew Mum would be happy here and all of us, as a family would be happy. The welcome from all the staff was outstanding and continued until sadly
mums last day, they were loving caring kind and much more to Mum. Mum loved them all. What a change in her, and we as a family, can't thank them enough. Wonderful home staff and food.

Both my parents are full time residents at Leadon Court as my mother has vascular dementia and my dad has early onset dementia and clinical depression. They are quite immobile and need regular help to get around and Mum can be difficult as her dementia has adversely affected her character. This doesn't
affect the staff at Leadon Court as they are great with my parents and clearly know them very well as Mum and Dad are so comfortable with them. Also the staff responsible for organizing entertainment etc. have to not just provide this but also raise additional funds through raffles etc. to supplement their small budget. They do this on top of focusing on the needs of each resident. Amazing. It feels like my folks have an additional family at Leadon and I can't speak highly or thank them enough.

It was the most heartbreaking decision we ever had to make to pass over responsibility of caring for our dear mum but any doubt about the quality of care and attention in this care home has been dispelled in the first month of Mum being there. The home is bright and welcoming, and always smells clean
(there are staff cleaning every time I visit). We are offered a cuppa whenever we visit and even lunch if we time it right! Dad is always made to feel welcome and comments on the standard of care being exceptional after his visits. We didn't want Mum to go into care but we could not have asked for a better provider. It's a real home-from-home. Thank you so much to all the staff at Leadon Court.

My husband has been a resident since March 1st of this year, he is so happy and settled and loves all the staff. Not just the nursing/care staff but also the cleaners, cooks and kitchen staff along with the girls who do the laundry and the activities/entertainment staff.
For my part, it is such a blessing
and relief to know that he is being cared for and that all his needs are being met and that he is safe and happy as I am sadly no longer able to look after him at home.
My best friend's mum is also a resident at Leadon Court and the whole family feels the same.

After visiting many Care Homes in Cardiff during 2012, I chose The Forge for my dad due to his Alzheimer's. He was only here 6 months but he was well looked after and happy. He even put on weight!
Then 5 years ago my Mum also developed a similar condition. Again I visited a number of homes around Cardiff
but The Forge impressed me the most and together we decided this was the best for her.
My Mum had difficulty settling in at first but nothing was too much trouble for the management and carers helping my Mum to settle.
The Nurses even allowed her to 'help' giving my mum a sense of purpose.
She particularly likes the food, saying it is like the real 'home cooking' she used to make. A number of times she has commented just how clean and tidy it is without that smell associated with similar institutions. When she was fitter she enjoyed joining in the fun and games provided by the entertainment staff.
And thanks to the reception staff; nothing is ever too much trouble!
Reply from Kayleigh Morris, Business Support Manager at The Forge Care Centre

Thank you so much for such kind words. As you know we all absolutely adore your mum, and making sure she feels happy and safe is our main priority. I always remember when Mum first moved in, she would come down to reception and sit with us, helping us to answer the front door and welcoming visitors with a smile. I can only thank you for putting your trust in us, not only with Dad but with Mum too - it's an honour to know that the care we provide is held in such high esteem by you. Thank you.

We chose the Forge, of the five care homes we visited, because we felt it had heart. We were introduced to residents as well as shown the facilities which gave me a sense that staff have meaningful relationships with everyone. I was a bit concerned about the size of the dad's living room but found that
he moves around the whole building, depending on the many activities they do. He is also making the most of the garden. I've been kept up to date on GP visits and medical plans. All the staff I've met have been brilliant. Dad finds it hard to express himself but staff have taken time to get to know him and understand what makes him happy and, crucially, how to reassure him when he's uncomfortable e.g. during personal care. He is also eating properly for the first time in years. It's been a stressful few years and I can't thank the Forge enough now I know that dad is safe and content and my mum can start to build a life again.

My mum has been a resident at Leadon Court since December 2023. I don't think words can do justice to the appreciation that my family and I have for the compassion, high standard of care and the supportive and welcoming nature of all the staff involved in Mum's care. Nothing is too much trouble, the
atmosphere in the home feels uplifting and homely and the cleanliness is excellent. As a former nurse, having worked in a number of nursing homes over the years and also having worked in the patient safety field. This is by far the best nursing home that I have ever come across and it is so reassuring to be able to entrust my lovely mum to the caring and capable hands of this dedicated and special team of people, in all roles throughout the home. A huge thank you to all at Leadon Court. You are amazing and you should all be very proud of yourselves.
