In the 2 years my dad has been a resident in this care home, he has thrived. The care and attention he receives is second to none. Always a nice smiling face greets you when booking in. Their policies are on the ball, especially when covid 19 started as they shut down the home straight away. Dad has
put on weight with all the great food (not bad for a 92-year-old). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home to everyone.

My mother-in-law has been in Thorntree Mews Care Home for the last two years and during that time, has received the utmost care, dedication and attention from the staff as a whole. This has been more apparant during the lockdown period and especially recently, with the objective of the staff, the well
being of the patients, being paramount. I find all staff are dedicated to this aim and continually strive to ensure their patients are guarded as much as possible in the present climate. She is now over 100 years of age and although not being physically able regarding movement, from her shoulders up she is extremely alert to what is going on around her. The mere fact that she is extremely well looked after, enjoys the good food, has daily interactions with the cheery staff together with the homely, togetherness feeling gives her a 'good feel' factor and she is constantly praising the staff regarding their actions when I visit her. Keep up the good work and thank you.

Our mum is currently a resident at Thorntree Mews. She has settled in well and I no longer worry about her. She is so well supported and cared for with a lovely warm environment, good food and cheerful, professional staff. During this difficult time, the staff have remained consistent in their work
and we appreciate that - thank you.

My mother has severe dementia and moved to Thorntree Mews in March 2020. My mother had been in the hospital for just over 3-months prior to moving to Thorntree Mews. She was non-ambulant and had been prior to her hospital admission. Despite input from hospital physiotherapy and occupational therapy,
she remained non-ambulant. Her appetite and eating were poor.
Now with the dedicated support from the nursing home staff, she is eating well, and on occasion, walking independently for short distances. This is a testament to the professionalism and commitment of the staff and management at Thorntree Mews. They liaised closely with us as a family as to my mother's preferences and what was important to her. They used creative thinking as to how best to present food that she liked in a way that would encourage her to eat. This being achieved whilst managing the restrictions due to Covid-19. My mother appears very settled with a good relationship with the staff. Thorntree Mews is an exemplary care home.

My mother was admitted to Thorntree Mews from hospital at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. Because of the circumstances, she was not accompanied and it was a frightening experience for her, unsupported by family and unable to receive visitors, which remains the case as I write this review. Her
feeling of isolation has been even more difficult since my family and I do not live locally. Given the situation, I believe the management and staff have done all they could to offer support and reassurance to my mother in helping her to settle, doing so in a warm and sensitive way.
Because my contact with the care home has been mainly by phone I am unable to properly assess some features (food, activities, etc). But without exception, everyone I have spoken to has been caring, polite and professional. I would be happy to recommend Thorntree Mews to others.

My mum's been a resident in this care home for 3 and a half years. The care she receives is exceptional and we are so grateful for all the staff for looking after her so well. Very clean and has a homely feel to it. My mum enjoys being able to go on days out and enjoying activities and entertainment
within the home. Great place with great staff who look after mum well and keep her safe.

Since my husband was admitted to Thorntree Mews, his health and wellbeing have been improving every day. The staff and management have been excellent in every aspect of his care and have always spoken to him and spent time explaining to the family about his everyday activities. Nothing is a problem
to any of the staff, who treat him with great dignity and are more than happy to talk to him and do all they can to make him comfortable.

Excellent care and staff. The care home provided my mother with the comfort, care, attention and social interaction that she needed when transferred from Community Hospital. She felt at home there and appreciated all that was done for her by staff.
Later on when at End of Life Stage the palliative
care and attention was first class not only for her but by all the family. I have never come across such caring and superb staff, all of which went above and beyond their medical and caring duties to look after my mum and us at this very difficult time.

The most important wish I have for my dad is that he is warm, comfortable, cared for, pain-free and as happy as it is possible to be. The staff at Thorntree Mews are providing all this for my dad and I am extremely satisfied with the level of care he is receiving.
Despite being immobile and incontinent
he is treated with dignity and respect and with care. The staff are always very friendly, helpful and informative and I would happily recommend Thorntree Mews to others.

My first went into Thorntree Mews nursing home in September 2018. The whole contact and experience with the home have been excellent. They made both my father as the resident and my mother and myself as relatives and carers very very welcome. The whole staff are just so friendly, cheerful and caring.
The nursing care of my father has been wonderful and everything to do with his going into the home has been well organised and run so smoothly. The food is very good and mealtimes are now the highlight of my father's day. I cannot praise the manager and her staff highly enough and I look forward to a long and happy relationship with the home.

Mostly very happy with support provided. Staff are excellent and work hard to support residents. Food is plentiful and home is clean. My Father's room is a bit small. Many of the activities are very good but there are days when he Doesn't have any and I feel there should be activities he can participate
in at least 5 days a week. The staff are lovely and interact with residents regularly and in a caring way but more attempt should be made to get residents to interact with each other.

The management and staff of Thorntree Mews have been super during the settling in of my Aunt. During her first few weeks, everyone has been very caring and all her requirements have been catered for. As a family, we have also been treated with respect and have been kept informed at all times.

Mum has been resident at Thorntree Mews for several years now in the dementia unit. We have been extremely happy with the level of care that she has received and with the facilities which are comfortable, clean and fresh. Mum has benefited from the wonderful activities program including great outings
and entertainment as well as crafts etc. Her room is lovely - like a hotel room. It’s very important for me to know that mum is safe, well cared for and happy because I live abroad. There is good communication from Thorntree - I am so happy that we decided on Thorntree for mum. I thoroughly recommend it.

Thanks, management and staff for everything you do.

Thorntree Mews is a warm and friendly care home. All staff welcome you happily and are cheerful and always happy to talk to you with a wide range of activities to suit all residents.

Mum was on an outing recently which was to our local park and was taken around by a pony and a trailer (in her wheelchair

which she was securely in). She really enjoyed seeing the park and the scenery as it was a lovely day and the sun was shining.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.583)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.583) out of 10 for Thorntree Mews is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.708 for Thorntree Mews is calculated as follows: ( (38 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.708

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thorntree Mews is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
