Very family orientated relaxed atmosphere. Variation at activities to suit all abilities. Clean and homely. Staff pleasant, professional and give residents dignity on all personal occasions. Visitors and family always welcome. Nice garden areas to enjoy the good weather. In-house café - perfect with real teacups.

Very friendly, warm staff. My nana is always clean and tidy. She is treated very well. Her dignity is always respected. There is always a relaxed atmosphere. Nothing seems to be a problem. Her room is lovely and she's gotten her on furniture bedding photos around her.

Even gets her wee brandy at night.

Overall Experience

My Gran has been resident in the care home for one year. At the time she had been recently bereaved. The staff supported her through this difficult period in her life as she had been married to my papa for 57 years and she missed him terribly.

The home's Dementia Ambassadors programme enabled my Gran to live her life to the fullest and she benefited greatly from the innovative Woodland experience which she hopes to attend again this year.

My Gran has been living in Wheatlands for 1 year. All staff are very friendly and welcoming. My Gran has settled in well and that's with help of the staff. She is safe and well which is a weight off our minds.

My mother has been a resident in the care home for 2 months. She has settled in very well with the support and reassurance from the staff. She enjoys the meals. She enjoys the activities, especially the outdoor ones now the weather has been better.

The staff helped her to attend the local gala day which she thoroughly enjoyed meeting friends she hadn't seen for a while.

My mother in law was admitted to Wheatlands in July. She has settled in very well and enjoys participating in all the activities organised by the staff. She is particularly enjoying attending the woodland experience which is ran by the local council, this is a 10-week long project.

She also attended the local gala day with some other residents and staff, as she is a local lady, she enjoyed meeting old friends and family.

Overall Experience
My father has been in Balhousie Wheatlands for 7 months and the family is very happy with the quality of service provided. The staff offer a professional service and are dedicated and extremely kind and caring. The facilities have recently been upgraded, with new furnishings and decor. The lounges are bright and cheerful and there is a family room, hairdressers, terrace and treatment room. Until recently, there was little in the way of organised outdoor activities. However, a 10-week Woodland experience programme has recently been launched which provides a welcome change of environment and wonderful stimulation for the residents. The management apparently also has other outdoor activities planned, using the mini-bus.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Balhousie Wheatlands to anyone looking for a caring, professional home for a loved one.

Reply from Grace Sloan, Manager at Wheatlands Care Home

The Woodland Experience has been greatly received by the residents and we look forward to continuing this in the months to come. We are awaiting the delivery of a shared minibus so that we can continue with outdoor pursuits that interest our residents.
