This last year in lockdown has been very difficult with restrictions on visiting in care homes. My mum is a resident in Forthbank Care Home, however, the staff have worked so hard in caring for my mum who has dementia. This has given me peace of mind that she has been supported and cared for when my family have been unable to visit.

I am very happy with the care my mum receives, however it has been very difficult to assess this during covid as we have been unable to visit. The care home have been under immense pressure and I think they have done their best under very difficult circumstances.

Really happy that my Granddad is safe and well looked after here. The staff regularly update us on how he's doing and do a wonderful job of looking after him - which I know can often be a thankless effort from him if he's crabbit! Visiting has felt safe and well organised and someone always answers the phone which is a huge improvement from the last place!

Due to Coronavirus, I hadn't been able to visit Forthbank except for half visits once weekly, however, the staff are always very attentive, pleasant and helpful. My wife no longer communicates well but still is always smiling and content, I say content but not as happy as being back together would make us. Forthbank gives me great assurance that my wife is safe and well cared for, should anything happen to me.

My father received excellent care at Forthbank. He lived there for the last year of his life and was extremely disabled.

Staff treated him with the utmost dignity and respect. They were unfailingly kind and caring to my father and the family.

My husband went to Forthbank Care Home for respite care. He was assessed as requiring full nursing care and remained there for 18 months, until his death. He was well looked after by the staff. I was always made welcome when visiting him. He was dressed in his good clothes, hair etc kept smart to maintain clements of his old self before the Alzheimers. He was encouraged to join in activities to stimulate his fading brain and taken for outings when possible. It was obvious that staff were trained to remember visitors names to offer friendly support, with a listening ear and tea and coffee.

My mother, unfortunately, is not able to move very well, however, other than that, she is mentally alert. This is the downside to her being in a home as she feels she has little "company" of people with like-minds. Whilst she realises there is no option to being looked after and her care is good, she'd still rather be at "home".

There are no words that can describe the kindness and care that my father and our whole family received. I cannot believe how much your staff cared and were so sympathetic at our and my father's time of need.

Thank you with all my heart.

The care my husband received at Forthbank was excellent. When we realised he was in the end-stage of his disease the staff were exceptional. The empathy and understanding I received was something I hadn't expected. The staff looked after my husband with such compassion. He was treated with dignity and love. I thank them all from the bottom of my heart.

I was very impressed with Forthbank. The home is very welcoming and has a good range of activities and facilities. The staff are exceptional, my brother was always treated with kindness, dignity and respect from the time he became a resident to his passing. The care was also extended to the family, which was greatly appreciated.

William Coats
William CoatsJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2026

I have worked in social care for nearly 20 years, gaining extensive experience across a variety of care settings and developing a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. As the Home Manager at Forthbank, I am passionate about leading a dedicated team that upholds the highest clinical and professional standards, while always putting the well-being of our residents at the heart of everything we do.

At Forthbank, we believe that care is not a "one-size-fits-all" service. We aim to provide a warm, secure, and stimulating environment where residents are supported to live their lives to the fullest. We aim to bridge the gap between clinical excellence and the comfort of home, ensuring that while the support is professional, Forthbank’s approach remains personal.

My approach to managing Forthbank is progressive and transparent, combining multi-disciplinary expertise with empathy and compassion. I strongly believe a care home should feel like a true home, not only for residents but for their families as well. I actively encourage relatives to be as much a part of the home as our residents, fostering an open, inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, valued, and involved. By building meaningful relationships and a warm, supportive culture, I aim to create a place where people feel safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for every day.
