Bandrum Nursing Home is a family-run, independent care home. It is situated just outside Dunfermline in the beautiful countryside of Saline. The home benefits from a sensory garden, outdoor patios, grow your own areas and there are lots of walks to enjoy.

Bandrum provides care to both younger adults and elderly people over seven units: including 2 elderly frail units; a special dementia unit; three young physically disabled units; and a young independent unit.

Highly trained and dedicated staff provide residents with maximum support ensuring people make their own choices and person-centred care is paramount for all residents.

There is a community café on site providing a café service for the residents, their relatives and the wider community and hosting a whole range of events.

Today I had a lovely time visiting my wife at Bandrum. We had all the family together and went to the Christmas event in the café.
It was lovely to spend such precious time with my wife and family in the lovely surrounds of the café.
The staff here are really nice. Nothing is too much for them and
the care is wonderful. Thank you.

Bandrum is a provider of the highest quality care, and volunteering here, where there is a harmonious balance between management, staff and residents makes my visits memorable. The residents of Bandrum have a marvellous time at the many entertainment/participation events that take place there - truly

My friend's mother has dementia and is living in Bandrum. She is only 74 but does not communicate and does not recognise family members. At Bandrum's 'open day' 30/7/16, I went with my friend to see his mum. Bandrum had set up an outside area with drinks, a barbeque and singer who was singing songs
from the sixties and seventies. My friend's mother was outside with a care assistant "singing"! for the first time in 18 months she knew her son and talked to him. He cried later, it was so emotional.
I have been to Bandrum before with my friend and on those visits, I had noticed how nice the staff are, they treat all the residents as if they were their own family. Even those with very challenging behaviour.


The open day was a fantastic event, it just highlighted the effort that was made to make the day special for the residents and visitors. I never want to have dementia and never want to go into care but if it does ever happen, I hope I would go into Bandrum.

My Father-in-Law was a resident and passed away in May 2014. Because of the excellent care he received, my wife and I decided to join the Friends of Bandrum and volunteered to help wherever we could. The work of the Friends of Bandrum was recognised when we were the winners of the Volunteer / Care Home
Friend Award at the Scottish Care National Awards 2015. Bandrum Care Home is a loving, homely environment for its residents, whilst constantly seeking to maintain the high standards of buildings and infrastructure and to this end has invested a considerable amount in a new extension which includes added facilities, giving the relatives / visitors, residents a neutral place to go for a cup of tea, etc.

Excellent staff and accommodation, residents are pristinely clean, well cared for in a happy family atmosphere. It is a pleasure to visit - which I do daily. The handyman and gardeners keep the grounds beautifully and gardeners keep the grounds beautifully and are pleasant to us all. I am a retired
senior lecturer in nurse education and examined nursing homes in the Lothians for study placements.

Our family had reached crisis point with the care of our relative as she has vascular dementia. The decision to have 24/7 care in a home was taken out of our hands but made so easy after our visit to Bandrum! Amazing caring staff who welcomed us and put us at ease with the decision during our visit.
They took a massive interest in the needs of our relative from our visit. The day she moved in I was there beforehand personalising her room.
She has been living here since February and the transformation in her is amazing, she is relaxed and most importantly SAFE. We can't thank staff enough for what they do,nothing is too much bother!
WE WHOLEHEARTEDLY RECOMMEND BANDRUM FOR CARE.

Excellent care home, wife is very happy here. Staff/carers are very very helpful and considerate to residents. Would be good if room had an on suite but other than that, one of the best care homes around.

On the day we visited my brother, he was sitting in the dining room, while there a DVD was playing he seemed to be enjoying it, as he was tapping his hand to the music.
The staff are always helpful if we have any questions regarding our brother's well being and progress. The recently refurbished dining
room is bright and spacious and has a lovely homely feel.

I would like more staff and more stimulation for residents. The care staff are very good and do their best. I feel all activities should be included in the price, as the care home should be stimulating clients with activities, outings and fresh air as much as possible. This would help to give residents
the best quality of life they can achieve.

Thank you very much for your response. I am very happy to hear you are happy with our care and take your other comments on board. At Bandrum we have a vast and varied selection of activities. Many are included in the weekly fee like bingo, art and coffee mornings to the new café etc, etc but others do have to include a charge to cover any costs for entry tickets etc. All our care and activities are bespoke and person centred therefore it would be unfair to charge a blanket cost. Our staffing schedules are set out by our regulator SCSWIS and we meet or exceed these depending on the needs for our clients. The care home meets our needs. The only problem is the homes situation. Not on public transport route. Must have own transport for visiting. My family member is happy with the care received by the care home.

Thank you for your positive feedback, it is good to know you are happy with the care your relative receives. Due to our location we offer transport on a daily basis for visitors from Dunfermline Bus Station to the home and return journey. All we ask visitors to do is call the home to book a seat on the bus so our driver is aware of those he will be collecting. We also offer extra collection service if needed. I came into the family business and haven't looked back. There is nothing more rewarding than helping people get more out of life through care and meaningful engagement. I enjoy seeing the residents and staff every day and knowing that we make a difference.


It is hard work, but worth it. I am also the chair for the Fife branch of Care Providers and do what I can to support the other care providers and make Fife the best place to provide (and receive) care services
