Bandrum Nursing Home

My gran recently passed away in Meadowview, she was admitted in June 2016 when her dementia progressed and we were no longer able to care for her safely at home. We were instantly impressed with the professionalism and care provided by all the staff, she was always clean and tidy. She loved the vast range of activities that were offered, especially the tea dance. Her mobility at times was poor but she was up for a dance as soon as the music start and it has given us some special memories. They also had a range of outings on offer which my gran attended and really enjoyed. The communal lounge and her room were always well presented.

When my gran was on palliative care she received the best care, from all the staff. They were very attentive during this hard time. They didn't only give my gran the care she required, they were a massive support to all the family. The care team within Meadowview day and night are all awesome, couldn't ever thank them enough.

My dad recently passed away in Meadowview at Bandrum Nursing Home. Dad went into Meadowview in February 2017 when Mum was no longer able to manage his dementia at home. From the moment Dad went into Meadowview we were immensely impressed with the professionalism of all staff in the unit. Dad was always clean and tidy and we never detected any odours despite him being doubly incontinent. As a retired nurse, I am able to recognise the little things that make such a difference to someone's dignity such as being clean shaven, clean nails and having hair combed and I know dad would not have had that level of care and attention in hospital! Mum and I spent most of the last week of Dad's life sitting with him in the home and witnessed at first hand the amazing work all staff in Meadowview perform for all those in their care and their relatives. We owe such a debt of gratitude that Dad was fortunate enough to live out his remaining days in such an amazing nursing home.

It was reassuring for the family to know her end of life care was managed with so much skill, experience and compassion. I will always be grateful that my aunt had quality of life during her time in Hilltop, Bandrum.

He is enjoying regular contact with the other residents and focused attention from the staff. We have now become part of the Bandrum family.

The staff here are really nice. Nothing is too much for them and the care is wonderful. Thank you.

Bandrum is a provider of the highest quality care, and volunteering here, where there is a harmonious balance between management, staff and residents makes my visits memorable. The residents of Bandrum have a marvellous time at the many entertainment/participation events that take place there - truly wonderful to see the enjoyment had by everyone!!

I have been to Bandrum before with my friend and on those visits, I had noticed how nice the staff are, they treat all the residents as if they were their own family. Even those with very challenging behaviour.

The open day was a fantastic event, it just highlighted the effort that was made to make the day special for the residents and visitors. I never want to have dementia and never want to go into care but if it does ever happen, I hope I would go into Bandrum.

My Father-in-Law was a resident and passed away in May 2014. Because of the excellent care he received, my wife and I decided to join the Friends of Bandrum and volunteered to help wherever we could. The work of the Friends of Bandrum was recognised when we were the winners of the Volunteer / Care Home Friend Award at the Scottish Care National Awards 2015. Bandrum Care Home is a loving, homely environment for its residents, whilst constantly seeking to maintain the high standards of buildings and infrastructure and to this end has invested a considerable amount in a new extension which includes added facilities, giving the relatives / visitors, residents a neutral place to go for a cup of tea, etc.

Excellent staff and accommodation, residents are pristinely clean, well cared for in a happy family atmosphere. It is a pleasure to visit - which I do daily. The handyman and gardeners keep the grounds beautifully and gardeners keep the grounds beautifully and are pleasant to us all. I am a retired senior lecturer in nurse education and examined nursing homes in the Lothians for study placements.

I have stayed at Bandrum Nursing Home for a number of years now and have been very happy here with the care and activities and everything. I am also very happy to say this nursing home is excellent as the qualities listed below.

Excellent care home, wife is very happy here. Staff/carers are very very helpful and considerate to residents. Would be good if room had an on suite but other than that, one of the best care homes around.

The staff are always helpful if we have any questions regarding our brother's well being and progress. The recently refurbished dining room is bright and spacious and has a lovely homely feel.

I would like more staff and more stimulation for residents. The care staff are very good and do their best. I feel all activities should be included in the price, as the care home should be stimulating clients with activities, outings and fresh air as much as possible. This would help to give residents the best quality of life they can achieve.

The care home meets our needs. The only problem is the homes situation. Not on public transport route. Must have own transport for visiting. My family member is happy with the care received by the care home.
