After a difficult few years for our mother personally, she now feels very much at home in Dounemount. A warm caring approach is demonstrated by all staff who work there and is evident as they go about their duties. They use encouraging words when supporting Mum and are very responsive to her individual needs. Any unexpected medical needs are dealt with promptly and my sister and I are confident in the high-quality nursing care provided. Mum enjoys the relaxed environment in the recently redecorated lounge, where she enjoys chatting with her fellow residents and staff alike. The dining room experience, with very well set and presented tables, gives value to eating together. Mum enjoys sitting with her friendship group for meals and looks forward to selecting from the menu. The activities and social fund events give her the opportunity to have a laugh, enjoy a sing song and generally join in.

Overall we are very happy with the care provided to Mum in this well-managed home.

My mother has been residing in Dounemount for almost a couple of months now and seems very happy and settled. She is always talking about how attentive the staff are and that nothing seems a bother to them. I visit regularly, at different times, and always seem to meet someone running about with a hoover or pushing a tea trolley. I, personally, find the staff very friendly and knowledgeable when asked about my mum's care or how she has been that day. At the end of the day, it is my mother who is there full time and she is very happy there, what more can I say?

My uncle has been in the home for several months now and I think he has settled well. The staff are very friendly and caring and seem to have a good rapport with him when I visit. He looks clean and tidy and always says he's doing fine. That's all you can ask for!

The nurses and carers at Dounemount are always going above and beyond for my Granny. Granny has good relationships will all of the carers and nurses and really enjoys staying in Dounemount. The recent renovations have made a huge difference and made it feel more homely. The staff were more than happy to set up a wee birthday party for Granny in October and allowed us to make special memories! We, as a family, always feel welcome when we visit and were welcomed in on Christmas Day to have our Christmas Dinner with my Granny in her room! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to the residents and visitors!

To all the staff at Dounemount. My mum spent her last six months staying at Dounemount from April 22 till August 22. From day one mum was treated as part of the family. The staff were always cheery and smiling and went an extra mile every day nothing was ever too much trouble not only did mum receive excellent care she enjoyed many of the varied activities from concerts, outings, and garden parties she really had a ball. All I can say is thank you so much for making mum's short stay so enjoyable.

My sister has been in the Home for nearly a year now and, through choice, is virtually bedridden. However, the staff have been very encouraging and have persuaded her to occasionally come to the lounge in a suitable chair. This requires lifting her on a hoist but they do so willingly. They laugh and joke with her and arrange cakes and suitable accessories for special occasions. They keep me informed of her condition and medical needs on a regular basis which is very helpful as I live too far away for visits.

My mum settled in instantly to Dounemount Care Home, bearing in mind this was under difficult times during the first week of the pandemic but the staff were so reassuring and made the transition smooth. The staff went over and above to arrange a special day for the resident and her husband to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. They provided a buffet and a cake for them and all the family. Also, there was a singer so they had a wee dance. It was a lovely day and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. We couldn’t thank the staff enough.

It's fine at Dounemount and the staff are wonderful! I like going out in the mini-bus into town and doing all the arts and crafts. I enjoy it when the children come to visit from the school. I love sitting in the reception area since it has all been done up.

My mum was admitted to Dounemount on February 1st 2022. It was a difficult time for the whole family but the staff at Dounemount have made the whole experience so much easier. My mum is happy, thinks that this is her home and has settled so well. We even celebrated my mum and dad's diamond wedding at the home last weekend - it was amazing! The staff had decorated a lounge, provided a wonderful buffet and even made a cake! They had a singer and we all applauded as my mum and dad took to the dance floor! My mum has no memory of it but it made memories for us. Wonderful place!

Reply from Louise Queen, Home Manager at Dounemount Care Home

Dounemount Care Home has impressed with their professional and consistent approach to the safety of its residents and is one of the few that has been able to keep the Covid virus from affecting any resident. I am extremely grateful for their diligence.
My mother has found it difficult to settle, however, Dounemount has informed the family of any issues and I know they have worked hard to make my mother comfortable and feel welcome in the home.
Recently, I have had the opportunity to visit my mother in the home and I was impressed by the calm and relaxing atmosphere, the beautiful views from the lounge windows and, most importantly, the professional, friendly and helpful interaction that we have received from each and every member of staff.

Difficult though it has been for our family to place our mother in the home, I am happy that she is in Dounemount where I have confidence that she is provided the best possible care and attention.

Without exception, all of the staff that both I and my mother came into contact with were all kind, patient, caring and understanding. All parties went to great lengths to support and care for my mother in so many different ways. Later the palliative care given/shown to my mother was considerate, professional with compassion. The consideration shown to me was greatly appreciated along with constructive advice and empathy. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you all.
