The Review Score of 8.9 (maximum of 10) for Barchester Seaview House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 4 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Barchester Seaview House Nursing Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.708 for Barchester Seaview House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (34 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.708

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.226 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Seaview House Nursing Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 3.75

    2. Target of 8.4 positive Reviews (42 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 4 Reviews ÷ 8.4 Target = 0.476

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

Quite simply it is an excellent home and one which I am very happy with.

The staff are truly lovely and we feel completely at home here. Food is very good and the care is of a high standard throughout.

Outstanding is the warmth, friendliness and help from the staff at all times. It is easy to recommend the care home.

Thank you for this lovely review.

My mum moved into Seaview Nursing Home around two years ago and has been very happy here. Very recently she has had a spell in hospital and since returning to Seaview she's improved no end. Nursing care is excellent in Seaview, staff are quick to pick up and act on any concerns they have, care staff are welcoming and have good relationships with residents and visitors alike. Seaview provides a relaxed, safe and happy atmosphere for residents and I'm very fortunate to have been able to have my mother cared for here. The manager is very approachable, knowledgeable and supportive.

My partner has recently moved to another care home having spent a year at Seaview House Nursing Home. My partner has dementia. I was happy with his care the staff were attentive and caring. I always felt that he was safe and cared for in every way. The management was supportive and always available if I needed advice and kindness. As the partner with no immediate family near I would have struggled to cope without the care myself from the staff.
I was always informed about the health or problems relating to my partner. I never had any worries about his care. The recent move was to his being nearer as my visits involved tiring long journeys.

At the most upsetting time, watching dad become settled has reassured me that his every need is met has made dealing with his condition so very much easier. The care he receives daily is exceptional and they can't do enough for him and me as a family member. He is treated with great dignity and I am so grateful. Thank you.
