Guthrie House Care Home

My mother has been a resident at Guthrie House for over two years now, and the care she receives is excellent. My mother is now fully immobile, so needs help with everything, and this is never too much trouble for the carers. She is always well-dressed, and there are always carers on hand to help with her needs. Special shout out to one gentleman on the 3rd floor, whose cheery disposition helps make for a good atmosphere. A very cheerful place.

My sister is a resident, and she is extremely difficult with complex problems, and the staff have looked after her very well indeed. My brother and I have recently visited from the South, and we are very pleased with Guthrie House. They are very kind and caring.

Room lovely and clean, and all staff very helpful.

My grandad was in Guthrie House Care Home and as a family we were very pleased with his care. The staff were wonderful.

My dad was so well looked after in this care home. We were always welcomed and looked after by the wonderful staff in this home. Everyone is so friendly, from managers, carers and housekeepers. We were impressed by the quality of the food and the lovely home baking. We would recommend this care home.

There are no doubt some genuine caring individuals on the care staff, and to those that cared for my friend, I thank them sincerely. I regret that further comment cannot be made as it would not comply with the Review Policy.

Thanks Guthrie care team. Your care is awesome. We have felt so supported with the process of moving Gran into a care home. Your kindness has been overwhelming to say the least. The staff are a great team and the home is so welcoming and full of fun. I won't estate to recommend your care home.

My partner has been so well looked after on Skye's unit in Guthrie House Care Home. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble. I am always welcomed by the manager and the team and I even stay for some meals with my wife. The care is 120%- I would highly recommend Guthrie House to anyone needing good quality care.

My mother is currently staying at Guthrie House Care Home. The care, respect, compassion and dedication of all the amazing care staff, nurses and Management is outstanding! Knowing that mum is happy and content makes me happy and at ease knowing that she is being well looked after. Thank you so much!

Firstly, the care for my aunt was good but I moved her as her mind was regressing as she had no one to talk to as even on a non Dementia floor none of the other residents could communicate. The problem I have, and still ongoing, is that the finance department is refusing to communicate with me over funds they have overcharged me. On the 1st of April, the Scottish Government increased the amount paid for personal and nursing care to those self-funding. This would have made a big difference to me but the finance department has remained silent despite taking this up with the administrator, the manager, and head office. You are not permitted to speak to the finance department directly. This is not the first time that I have had issues with them. I was accused of not paying when they had not taken it themselves. I am prepared to take the matter to the small claims court and will involve the Care Commission as they should have the power to stop this from happening to anyone else.

My aunt lives in Guthrie House and has been so well looked after since she arrived in November 2021. She has a lovely room with spectacular city views and is helped into the garden to potter around. Her care is excellent, and she wants for nothing. She/we cannot praise the staff highly enough for their commitment and dedication. You are always welcomed with a friendly smile and made to feel at home.

The staff are all very caring and attentive to my relative. The home has a great activity team and it is great to see what they are doing on the Facebook page, this really engages the residents. I am also impressed by the management as they keep us updated on what is happening and also know my relative when I need to call, which is good.

Thank you to the wonderful team of Guthrie who made Dad's birthday so special. I cannot commend you enough for the care he has received which I feel is second to none. His birthday celebration was beyond our expectations so thank you for the wonderful spread put on. It was amazing for us all to be together as a family to share Dad's special day. You are all amazing and doing a great job.

My mother has lived in Guthrie House Care Home for almost a year and I am so glad this was the home we chose - her care has been exceptional and all the staff are lovely, kind, caring and always smiling. Her room is beautifully decorated with a nice outlook which makes her happy. We are always kept informed and most importantly have been welcomed with exceptional visits. Thank you!

A huge thanks to all the team who made my friend's final few months so much better. I was always made to feel extremely welcome and my friend felt very comfortable in the home. There were plenty of activities for them to do which meant they were included and met other people. The staff were also excellent and kept me up to date with how my friend was doing. I can't thank them enough.

Thank you to the manager and the team for the kindness shown with such care and compassion in my mother's last days. Sadly she didn't live long at Guthrie but we knew she was coming into your care for what would be her end of life. You provided this to a level I can never thank you enough for but over and above we as a family felt looked after. Mother lived longer than expected but thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the time we were able to share.

My mother was treated with care and respect throughout the three short months she was resident at Guthrie House Care Home. She said she felt comfortable and safe and was well looked after. I always found the staff to be approachable, welcoming and very helpful and was always kept informed if staff were concerned about her health. Guthrie House Care home handled my mothers rapidly deteriorating health professionally and with respect for her and my family. They handled her passing with great sensitivity and care.

Thank you for the care given to our old friend who was looked after beyond anything we ever expected. It was amazing to see him able to spend his last days in the care of such an amazing team. We will be forever grateful to you all for making him happy in his last few months. Brilliant care and lovely people.
