My Mother has been in the care home for over 5yrs and I have always found the staff excellent, the service they provide has been of a level that has allowed me to relax from almost the first week, I was very nervous when my Mother went in but the interactions with them and my viewing of the work they
do under difficult circumstances has gave me high level of respect for them and the work they do.

My wife celebrated her birthday last week on 2 separate days as our family were not all available at once .
Amazingly this was not a problem for your staff who pulled out all the stops to decorate her room and the lounge and made such a fuss of her and a warm welcome for all of us.Many thanks to all
the staff for their love and care.I would like to make special mention of Sharon , if I may , as she tirelessly goes above and beyond mere duty with her patient compassionate care.We are so lucky with your choice of staff , thank you.

We could not speak highly enough of the team in the Bruce Unit. My mother in law was in there for nine and a half months and was at all times treated with respect, kindness and consummate professionalism.

The staff were all friendly and personable. They work very hard to keep the residents engaged

and stimulated, while respecting the wishes of those who prefer a little privacy. The meals are very good, with frequent snacks and drinks in between.

The room she had was a good size, with an adjustable bed. She had her own bathroom and the shower was close by. She was assisted in having these on a regular basis

My mother in law passed away at the weekend, but my wife and I are very grateful for everything they did for her. She was constantly monitored and her passing came with great dignity.

Thank you, to everyone at the home. Very highly recommended to anyone seeking a place for an elderly relative

My sister was transferred from the hospital to Lammemuir on 26th September. The staff clearly knew all about her problems before she arrived She has miraculously survived brittle insulin dependent diabetes for 68 years. She had a multitude of nursing and medical problems. The positive approach to all
of this by the staff was almost overwhelming for us as a family - and many of the family have been doctors and nurses for years so do have some knowledge of how people should be treated!
My sister passed away very peacefully on 16th October she had been treated with genuine compassion and dignity.

I do appreciate the care my beloved husband Patrick receives and I know how much he needs it, but although his powers of communication are slow, I always feel that there should be more activities especially at the weekends. Also if a resident requires physical assistance such as cleaning spectacles,
they he must have access to them at anytime he is awake, there was an incident last month. The problem is now resolved.
Reply from Liz Cass, Home Manager at Colinton Care HomeThank you for your review and your kind comments on the care we provide your husband. My father has been in Guthrie House since April 2025. Since the first day, not only has my father received a warm welcome but so have all family & friends. All the staff, without exception, are friendly, professional, helpful but also happy. All the areas are clean & well kept. The food is
lovely. There are lots of activities like bbq's, singers, arts & crafts & quizzes. The staff are always on hand if you have any queries. There's a lovely garden for nicer days. It's lovely to see all the staff interacting with the residents.

My partner was recently admitted to the neurological centre. Initially there was a few problems that were dealt with immediately by the deputy manager and her team ( I like to call them teething problems)I also work in care so these things are quite common. My partner had been in hospital for 3 months
then another facility for 7 months so we were worried about his transition, turns out there was nothing to be worried about he settled in almost immediately thanks to the team there. Nothing is ever too much for them and they welcomed us as family . The staff are always on hand to tend to my partners needs, and in the 2 weeks he's been there we are seeing quite a bit of improvement. Eventually I hope the team (nurses, support workers, physios, OT, and the other people involved in the rehab) get my partner to a point where he will be able to come home. Big thanks to all in the neuro centre for making us feel at ease and welcome.
Reply from catherine forrest-smith, Deputy Manager at Gilmerton Neurological Care CentreThankyou for your kind comments, we would like to welcome you all as a family. Lammermuir is an old building + showing its age! Since the home has been taken over by the new company I see a marked difference in the change in maintenance + a positive improvement to the facilities + furnishing/decoration. Now I can progress.
Excellent, friendly/professional staff. I am satisfied
that my wife is being cared for in an appropriate setting.

Such peace of mind knowing that he is so well cared for.
I am consistently impressed by staffs' person centred approach to the people in their care. He is happy and contented within himself and this is due in so many ways to the positive, kind approaches used by caring and nursing staff.
Well done,
everyone, and thank you so much
